tornado. more tornadoes are expected. some of them expecting to hit arkansas. we take you now to ktrl in little rock arkansas bracing the viewers for a possible tornado warning. >> it is amazing the pictures we are seeing out of this. >> we have been spending time north of little rock around the 67 corridor. radar right now is showing that central and southern arkansas we have no thunderstorm activity occurring at all. all of the activity is across the north central part of the state. severe thunderstorms rolling through the heeber springs area large hail damaging winds will be possible.

that warning continues up around the hope well and pocahontas area. we have the particularly dangerous situation tornado watch in effect. essentially that watch in effect along and south of u.s. 64 and north of u.s. 82 that runs across arkansas. most of the state is still covered by a tornado watch not necessarily the pds tornado watch or particularly dangerous situation tornado watch. >> far northeast arkansas wasn't under a a watch until 2:00. the rest of us 11:00 from central arkansas to the springs. there is a tornado warning in southeastern parts of the

county. we also had the tornado were with aing with a severe thunderstorm warning but the southeastern part of independence county that is in extreme southwestern independence county that is getting closer to the jackson county line. to the store south of oil trough that area under the tornado warning. that is there for 12 minutes until then. western parts of akkon county. >> we are getting reports in numerous people in the shoerm shelter of velonia high school. not sure if they need to get out of the temperatushelter or not. they should go to the storm shelter to check the situation out. we got the folks into storm shelters extensive damage at one point spotters reported them three quarters of a mile wide.

across portions of jackson county as this thunderstorm continues to move to the north and northeast. we had reports of possible damage in the den mar community. earlier i saw a road that was blocked or stopped as folks are trying to get past 167 into independence county. there is a live feed there. cars are on the highway as they are waiting for possible damage to be cleared. >> in western parts of jackson county. maria molina is in oklahoma in may flour -- mayflower arkansas, not oklahoma. we are going to join with her right now to look at the situation taking place there now. >> hi, how are you? i am here in may flower arkansas 20 minutes north of little rock

arkansas where a tornado hit part of interstate 40. the tornado touched down to the south and west. the tornado moved through this area may flower arkansas and then moving to viola. we were out here because we were anticipating more weather. it was a particularly dangerous situation. that is a tornado watch that meant violent tornadoes could rip through partsdz of a-- part arkansas. we were chasing the storm we could see a visual and on radar and there was a coronado warning declared. looks like a battle zone. there is search and rescue

ongoing. we know there are injuries and seven and resc -- search and rescue ongoing. we did smell gas there was a leak. there are many other out here because of the damage. we are in may flour arkansas and the storm keeps moving but we don't know what happened after that. >> if i could add because you are on the ground in the thick of it we know according to the report we received our affiliate ktrl that there have been fatalities. we don't know too many. there are reports from them that a school where a lot of people were able to go for shelter they may be trying to get people out of the shelter now for the mere fact of safety reasons. tornadoes could be coming back

for that region. from your vantage point what are you seeing on the ground? you talk about a battle zone. it can be devastating the aftermath. you are seeing search and rescue crews going on. what else can you tell us about the people and how are they responding? are they taking shelter and are they finding coverage from this potential of more tornadoes striking that area? >> that particular tornado is gone. n no one appears to be seeking shelter. we can see cars moved off of each other on the side of the road. there is debris every where where we are located on interstate 40. cars have started to move. there was traffic that stopped here since the debris. we spoke to several people there were some anchored in the storm

in the base: they survived but they were injured a. >> we want you to be safe you and the crew. we thank you for being on the ground and reporting the details of what is happening there. money people were getting fair warning about tornadoes. what is causing this storm system in terms of the weather? what have you been able to see as far as how long this might last and how long of an endurance test. >> the storm system was exiting the rockies. it is a severe weather outbreak. we saw the rigs can for severe weather yesterday in parts of texas and kansas. there was a slight risk

yesterday and we didn't see any reports of tornadoes or much damage there was dangerous light lightening but today it was different story. it was further off to the east. we also saw the clouds early in the morning something called a low level jet. they were moving from the south to north very rapidly. they issued what they call a high risk. that is very rare. only a couple days in the entire year are labeled as a high risk. very hood air. very warm temperatures. high dew points and dry air behind the storm system that was movings eastward. we were attracting this particular storm that hit may flour arkansas for a while about an hour in far person parts of

arkansas. it was in a town called malal. it was spotted on radar so we knew the tornado was on the ground and a tornado warning was issued with this storm. then we did get a visual of the tornado on the ground in the distance. thfdz also dangerous lightening. the storm was east of where we were. the storms hit viola. the tornado hit the town of viola north and east of the region. there were a lot of people here and considers serly -- severely damaged. search address cue all over. some people did ride out the storm in their basements.
