arkansas. rescue crews return from the rubble. joining us is brandon morris. he is the investigative officer for arkansas. we know you are busy. can you tell us first what area -- is there an area that was part of arkansas you are concentrating on right now? we mentioned 16 deaths. what about injuries? >> we don't have a comprehensive list of injuries at this time. the main damage was focused on falkner county and the community the cities of may flower and columbia. >> i am looking on-line the tornado watch in arkansas is still happening right now another hour and 44 minutes so people need to be aware.

describe what you are seeing on streets? >> we received reports from the local office of emergency management that there are houses completely destroyed. there are power outages through out the area. we are not sure how many people are without power there. >> you have been through this before we are looking at images right now. cars tossed around. y there was a warning about this happening and what did you tell people about>> we told people if they had a safe place in their home go there or find a community shelter or one in their neighborhood.

to see severe storms. today thereofed a iris can or yesterday there was a high risk issued in arkansas because of the potential of tornadoes. we arrived a few minutes after the tornado touched down. we saw trees, smashed cars, homes that were completely destroyed. we also smelled a gas leak and saw fires in the distance and also we saw search and rescue ongoing. we saw a man being rescued from his car and other people that were injured as well. getting treatment trialers were completely level as well. they only this moments to seek shelter. >> she jumped in a storm shelter next door. thank god the alarm went off on her phone. came out about 15, 20 minutes later looks like we had a war

the entire town flattened by massive twisters that left at least 16 people dead. that is where we find our own maria molina. maria, tell us about the extent of the damage. >> it is so extensive.ç heather, we are just seeing search and rescue crews back out this morning sorting through the rubble and homes have been completely destroyed. you can see behind me what's left of a home. trees have been toppled, cars mangled, tractor-trailers twisted. the extent of the damage is just absolutely heart breaking. when we arrived, we also could smell gas leaks and we saw fires off in the distance. we also saw a man being rescued from his car. there were many people trapped on interstate 40 when the tornado moved through, so thereç was a lot of damage there as well and cars moved by the tornado and many people that were injured. we also have seen a lot of damage elsewhere here across the may flower area
