state of arkansas alone. they have told us the press conference is still an active search and rescue mission because you can see back here a home that has been levelled and there are canine units and also first resonders going door to door searching for communities. if my photographer continues to pan that way you can see how the damage goes on and on. in fact this twister stayed on the ground for 80 miles. cutting a path of destruction and sometimes the funnel cloud was half a mile wide. it happened near 8 p.m. as it was getting dark and making it difficult to see with the rain and cloud cover as the people

tornados. it goes as highs e-f5. i talked to the man in his home and he said he and his wife were inside with their dog and they were in the bathroom. the front of the house collapsed and the roof ripped away and they could see the sky. absolutely terrifying but they are happy they walked away without a scratch. >> that is amazing they survived that. a good reminder of the families impacted by the damage we are seeing. we will stay close and follow this throughout the day. and new information on the claims of the shocking neglect and possible cover-up at a hospital in phoenix, arizona. 40 vets reportedly died waiting for medical care that was denied due to fake paperwork making it look like the waiting time for a doctor was reduced.

districts of boehner and rogers. is this part of their reelection strategy or the gop strategy to turn away from repeal? >> i think they got a lot of flack from the right because there are a lot of people on the ground trying to turn out conservative voters ahead of november and are using appeal to do that. that is why rove said this wasn't helpful to say what many are saying privately which is the idea of obamacare is likely here to stay. they don't want to tell that to voters because they want them to turn out because of the unpopul unpopul unpopularity of the law >> what do you think the republicans will do with the law? >> house republicans have been

saying they will rollout on alternative to obamacare and we have not seen that bill yet. we know it is in progress but there is a debate going on. i think in 2016 we will hear from candidates that still want to get rid of it. it has not become a poplar law like the democrats thought. i think we will have to wait and see. this is one of the issues that holding the republican party and karl rove knows that. he knows the establishment and tea party conservatives can rally behind this. >> he was asked is this helpful to the gop and he said no this isn't the strategy that we should be employing. one of the other comments that has surface said about this whole debate about obamacare and whether to repeal it is the point that over the last several weeks, the momentum has changed.

now democrats are embracing the health care law more and this is putting republicans on the defensive where they were not on there before. what is your opinion on that? does therese seem to be a transition where the health care law isn't what either party thought? >> i think there is a transition taking place and the political calculus is shifting for the gop. the republicans have been behind repeal always and they use the law's unpopularity now. but when you look at the polls most people oppose it but want to see it fixed and not fully repealed. the gop is in a tough position. they know the law is unpopular but they are deal wilderness

lawyer goes to congress and he is considered well inside the house and then to have something like this which occurred right after he left the fbi is astounding. these charges are serious. the timing is suspicious. this guy went inside the fbi which makes the gambino cases interesting because he went inside the mob. he was controversial inside the fbi and this was going on for two or three years. and you have to ask why are they unveiling this. they have been talking it up about the charges. i started hearing about it a year and a half ago. he is running for congress. the republicans can't take him off so it is good chance the republicans lose that seat in the staten island.

jenna: we continue our coverage of the controversy surrounding clippers owner donald sterling today. he's accused of making racially charged comments caught on tape. some say these comments are consistent with a pattern of behavior by sterling for years. take a listen. >> david, you know, i guess i'm surprised that anyone is surprised. i mean, donald sterling's reputation is such that one could say if you keep a vicious dog for awhile and you know he's vicious, you can't be surprised when one day it bites someone. donald sterling's racial history is on the record. it has cost him money. it cost him his reputation long before this. so i'm kind of amazed that anyone is surprised at this. jenna: sports editor for the "wall street journal" joins us on this. >> good morning. jenna: when i heard him talk about this, i realize i didn't know too much about sterling's

past. what should we know about him? >> i think that's true of a lot of players in the league right now didn't know this as well about even the guy they were playing for. he had multiple incidents where he's accused of being a racist. he's two lawsuits where he was accused of discriminating against his tenants. and he settled both of them and then he had another lawsuit by a former g.m. for wrongful termination. in that case, they ended up siding with him on that one but he was accused of running the clippers like a plantation. this has been out there for a long time. jenna: how do you think that factors in? >> i think it factors in. this is something we've known and i think it presents a question on why, if the nba knew about some stuff, they hadn't acted to sanction him before. jenna: what do you think it is? >> i'm not sure why they haven't. it was not directly connected to his clippers business. maybe that's why. jenna: we should mention these lawsuits came up and the allegations he did settle were that he was not renting to

minorities. >> right. and some he wasn't doing repairs for african american tenants and that kind of thing. jenna: there were clear racial lines on those allegations. what happens now, jeff? >> it's an interesting question because adam silver, the new commissioner, it's an important moment for him. he has the players and the fans very upset and i think he has to do something or people will be really upset. i think he can certainly fine him but how much is fining a billionaire, even $1 million, that is not going to satisfy people, either. i think he can also suspend him. that hasn't been done in the nba but there's a precedent for that in other leagues. mlb, the owner of the reds was suspended twice for making racist comments. jenna: because he's one of the two sole owners in the nba of a team, what he can actually be forced to do legally or otherwise because we've heard, again, this speculation about what's to come. some say they're going to force

him to sell the team. is that even possible? >> i think a lot of people want him to sell the team. it's not that easy. you can't just kick out an owner. they have a constitution and you're not -- i think you can do it maybe if they weren't paying the bills but to do it for something like this is tricky. he can come back and sue the nba if they did that for violating the anti-trust law saying he was forced to sell below market value. he has a case if they do that. jenna: we haven't heard from him at all. >> no. his ex-wife said something. jenna: that will be interesting to see if he says anything the next several -- do you think he will? is he that type of personality? >> i think adam silver does not want him at the games at least for the remainder of these playoffs so i think we'll see something from silver pretty soon saying maybe he can't come to the games for x amount of time. jenna: you mentioned players, both in the team and for the league, maybe that didn't know this about his history, the clippers last time were wearing their clippers jerseys inside

jenna: a look at crime stories we're continuing to follow for you here. defense attorneys continuing to present their case in the murder trial of a minnesota man accused of killing two teenagers. byron smith claims he acted ee self defense when he shot the teens who broke in his home. a connecticut teen was stabbed to death on prom day. this is the 16-year-old classmate accused of her murder. he's set to be arraigned. mother of a new jersey teen who killed a 12-year-old girl will be allowed to file a civil complaint against her son and his father. justin robertson's mother is seeking to hold her son and ex-husband liable for any potential damages stemming from a lawsuit brought by the victim's father.
