10:00 pm
we would love to hear your thoughts on the story of the newly released e-mails on benghazi. go the facebook.com. thanks for watching tonight. i'm martha mcelderry cullen in for megyn kelly. y. welcome to "hannity." we have an explosive news development linking the benghazi coverup to the white house and that's the beginning of a very, very busy news night. america, are you ready? it's time to roll. tonight. >> there is pressure coming to bear on journalists for just doing their job. >> former cbs news reporter cheryl atkinson opens up. >> the implication we were
10:01 pm
somehow holding back information when, in fact, we were saying what we thought was right. >> and how they are still trying to coverup what happened in benghazi. race disgrace. >> it's ridiculous. it's disgraceful. >> steven a. smith says the naacp must be held accountable over the donald sterling mess. why? he's here to tell you. plus a murderer's execution gets botched, but where is the sympathy for his young victim? and betraying our veterans. >> there are so many beautiful people dying for no reason. i can't afford to have tony die on me, i can't. >> ainsley earhardt's interviews will make you think. this is a fox news alert, the smoking gun is out when it comes to the obama administration's coverup on the benghazi attack that killed four sneinnocent americans in 2. there was an e-mail written by ben rhodes.
10:02 pm
in it he provides talking points. the document reads quote to under score these protests are rooted in an internet video and not a broader internet policy. and there you go. cold, hard evidence proving that a high-level white house aid instructed rice to instruct benghazi on a youtube video. jay carney stepped in front of reporters and actually, with a straight face, said this. >> that document that we're talking about today was about the overall environment in the muslim world. i can say it again and again and i know you can keep asking it again and again, this document was not about benghazi. >> sadly, that's how administration attempted to dismiss the smoking gun e-mail written by ben rhodes, it wasn't about benghazi but referenced by rice on the sunday shows which is why carney's explanation did
10:03 pm
not sit well with reporters, including abc's jonathan karl. let's take a look. >> why were you holding this information back? why was it not released with the other e-mails? this is directly relevant. why did you hold it back? >> john, again. >> why did it take a court case? >> john, i can say it again and again and i know you can keep asking again and again, this document was not about benghazi. >> it was the prep for the sunday show. >> not her only prep, john she relied on her answers for benghazi on the document prepared by the cia. >> we're supposed to believe jay carney who informed us today the rhodes he met was not about bengha benghazi. it was designed to enlighten ambassador rice about other hot spots in the muslim world.
10:04 pm
there is one problem when rice blamed a youtube video during these appearances she wasn't asked about iran or egypt when she pointed the finger at causing the death of four americans. she was asked about one place and one place only, benghazi. >> what is the latest you can tell us on who the attackers were at the embassy? >> let's talk about the attack on the u.s. consulate that killed four americans including chris stevens. >> you talk about this is spontaneous. can you see definitively that the attacks on the consulate, their security personnel was spontaneous? >> our current assessment is that what happened in benghazi was a spontaneous result of what happened in cairo. almost a copy cat of the demonstrations in cairo which were prompted by the video. >> make no mistake about it,
10:05 pm
susan rice got her accused from this e-mail and not written by the central intelligence agency, it was written by a top white house aid about benghazi and it was designed to provide political cover for an embattled politician ahead in a presidential election. here with reaction to the developing story, investigative journalist cheryl atkinson and the host of special report brett bear. guys, welcome to the program. glad you're with us. >> thanks, sean. >> let me start with you. you are objective reporters. i come at this a little differently. i have a political point of view. i want to make sure the audience has the facts. your reaction to the news conference. is this plausible considering the data? this is three days after the attack. >> if you were to believe, sean, what jay carney said today, they are saying that ben rhodes was prepping susan rice for the sunday shows and was typing up an e-mail memo that dealt with other places and not benghazi,
10:06 pm
specifically not benghazi. he doesn't reference that in the e-mail by the way, but she's going on the sunday shows just days after the attack. now, the key to this whole thing is that the deputy director of the cia at the time, mike morrell, in recent weeks testified on capitol hill. it was in the talking points. when she mentioned the video he testified on the hill, that caught him by surprise. because that was not in anything that the cia had produced. he said the video caught him by surprise. now, it's strange as we watched a lot of reporters today ask these questions to jay carney. abc, cbs, the new york times,
10:07 pm
pressing him on this for many, many months. jay carney has said they didn't have any guidance. one more thing. this e-mail was classified at first. it was classified, so it didn't go up to the hill originally. then it was declassified and put up there redacted, so they couldn't see who sent it and who received it. the judicial watch request was for benghazi e-mails or documents. nothing else. and the judge ordered that they had to comply. this is an e-mail that came out and jay carney says it is not a benghazi e-mail. >> this is what i believe is a smoking gun. do you think it's a smoking gun? do you think jay carney's explanation was plausible? >> i don't know if it's a smoking gun. i'll let that be for others to decide. it's clear when you look at the narrative by multiple obama
10:08 pm
administration officials they were all reading from the same page. whether or not carney is correct that that particular e-mail dealt with benghazi or did not deal with benghazi, it was the message that was put out by hillary clinton when she smoke to t -- spoke to families upon return of the bodies. >> you mentioned the others that made the same argument. we have a montage of what they were saying and telling us. we have to see this through the prism. >> some thought to justify this vicious behavior along with the protests that took place at our embassy in cairo yesterday as a response to antiinflammatory material posted on the internet. >> we can all condemn this
10:09 pm
reprehensible video. >> we find the video that has been so offensive to muslims to be disgusting and reprehensible. >> although we have nothing to do with the video, we find it offensive. it's not representative of america's views. >> it's a cruel and disgusting video that sparked outrage through the muslim world. now i have made it clear that the united states government had nothing to do with this video. >> let me go back to you. that was september 25. when we look at the original talking points, which we now have access to, and we also know there was a previously scheduled meeting with the chairman of the joint chiefs, they saw the president on september 11th while the attack was going on. do you think that things changed and can be provably on paper can
10:10 pm
be shown to be changed? >> i think this is going to produce more questions on capitol hill. it's important to point out to be fair, there were protests other places that they did believe were tied to this video or at least they said that but on the benghazi situation, everyone through the chain, on the ground, said this was not a protest. there was no protest. it was a terrorist attack. the military was sending it up their chain. the intelligence community was sending it up their chain. we've heard testimony specifically about this. three, four, five days later they know there was no protest and this was an organized terrorist attack and many times after that when referencing benghazi, the video comes up in discussion. >> there was also the conscious decision that was made not to take the word of eyewitnesss on
10:11 pm
the ground and the station chief and others but rather go with an interpretation from langeley? >> i would argue you're left with two scenarios. one is they took the wrong information and put out the misinformation. and the other is a political motivation. let's accept their explanation, they were wrong and that stands out as one of the most terrible mistakes in intelligence that has been made in recent memory that i've heard of. in other words, they took all the evidence, someone who collected and analyzed it drew the wrong conclusion of a tiny slice that somebody said ignoring that and intelligence reports and prior warnings, that in itself should be alarming. >> i don't have time to play a
10:12 pm
montage here. cheryl, let me ask you about your situation, comments you made when you left cbs. there was this reluctance, resistance to go deep into some of the more controversial issues coming before the obama administration and you've come under heavy fire for that. do you stand by your original comments? >> well, sure i'm under fire for those surrogates accused or representing those who believe they've been accused in the reporting, so that's expected. i accept that and i don't pay much attention to it. >> brad, i never miss the special report. thanks for being with us. >> thanks, sean. coming up, what i believe is the smoking gun of benghazi and the coverup is now out in the open for all to see. what is hillary's infamous testimony and the new evidence mean for her 2016 presidential

10:15 pm
welcome back to "hannity," in light of the e-mails, we must not forget when 2016 hillary clinton said this during her testimony on capitol hill. take a look. >> the fact is, we had four dead americans. was it because of a protest or guys out for a walk one night that decided they would go kill americans? what difference does it make at this point? >> what difference does it make? with more political fallout, david limbaugh and steven hays. it makes a lot of difference if they lied purposely to the american people to coverup the failure, don't you think, david? >> yes, in fact, hilary knew the whole time.
10:16 pm
obama knew the whole time. david knew the whole time. jay carney knew. it was not the result of a video. the attacks were planned by al qaeda. the cia never said that it was a video, in fact, said it wasn't. they altered the talking point. this e-mail from september 14th is a smoking gun because it reveals that the white house knew it and they wanted to prep susan rice to go on these sunday shows to say that it was the video. and they were clearly covering obama for reelection. it had a potentially substantial effect on his reelection because if it would have shown that it was a result of an al qaeda attack, it could have cost obama the election because he said he had al qaeda on the run. instead they prepped susan rice to say, we're doing everything we can to protect our facilities and to protect the american people. we're bringing all these people to justice. this wasn't caused by terrorism,
10:17 pm
but a video. three of the four bulletins were outright lies. the administration is only concerned about covering its own you know what and it's own pr like it was in the gulf oil spill. it's never concerned about the american interest and this is outrageous and i really believe and i'll shut up in a second. i believe this would be an impeachable offense if any other president were in office beside president obama. >> steven hays, do you agree with that? >> let me start by defending hillary clinton, which i don't do often in the context of benghazi. that sound byte is misinterpreted by some to be a declaration of her indifference of what happened on the ground in benghazi. she wasn't saying basically, i don't care, we're beyond it, it doesn't matter. what she was saying was, it doesn't matter how it happened. i think she was profoundly mistaken to make that claim. >> but a big difference they
10:18 pm
lied to us like the irs and keeping your health care plan and paying less and keeping your doctor when they knew otherwise. >> absolutely. it's a narrow defense, but it's important to be precise as we can on what she actually meant. on the broader question, there's no disputing the fact that the white house misled the american people whether you're talking about the original claims that came out of the white house in the aftermath of the benghazi attacks or jay carneyis press briefings, that the white house has no substantive role in making changes to the talking points when we have 100 pages of e-mails that show that they did. the white house played a big role in shaping the response to that. >> david, what should the consequences be and what impact on hillary before we go?
10:19 pm
>> i think that they should form a select committee, congressional committee, because they're not going to get a special prosecutor. i'm not sure i would be in favor of that anyway. steve said we already knew this was a fabrication. of course we knew, but the white house has never admitted and now they have to admit it, even though they're still not admitting. it i don't deny that her statement in that limited context was, somebody died. quit worrying about why, but she knew when she made that when she was trying to distract and deflect it wasn't a video. she was part of that coverup. she does not deserve to be defended on the broader point and i know you're not. >> we've been lied to about the irs rogue agents, lied about health care when they knew better, a lot of lies. we'll see what the consequences are. guys, good to see you. thank you. coming up next, we exam the

naacp's hypocrisy when it comes to the sterling scandal and why is al sharpton being honored by them. next on "hannity" tonight. a tt not caused by a heart valve problem. i was taking warfarin but wondered, could i focus on something better? my doctor told me about eliquis for three important reasons. one, in a clinical trial eliquis was proven to reduce the risk of stroke better than warfarin. two, eliquis had less major bleeding than warfarin. and three, unlike warfarin there's no routine blood testing. [ male announcer ] don't stop taking eliquis unless your doctor tells you to, as stopping increases your risk of having a stroke. eliquis can cause serious, and in rare cases, fatal bleeding. don't take eliquis if you have an artificial heart valve or abnormal bleeding. while taking eliquis you may bruise more easily and it may take longer than usual for any bleeding to stop.
10:21 pm

welcome back to "hannity." the nba banned donald sterling for life after hearing his r racist rant that went viral this weekend. as we reported last night, this is not the first time sterling made racist disgusting comments which is why a lot of people are scratching their heads as to why the naacp chose to honor this man back in 2009 and was about to do it again. my next guest is just as outraged as i am, friend of the program, personal friend, espn analyst. watch him all the time. he doesn't like my buddy tim tebow. what is up? >> what's going on, sean, how are you doing? >> when you go after tebow, stop, you're killing me.
10:23 pm
this is a serious matter. let's start with why did they honor him? now that we know so much about his history, the nba had to know, the naacp had to know. why would they give him an honor? i think the nba handled it perfectly, but why the naacp? >> it's inexplicable. there was a racial discrimination case brought against donald sterling by the department of justice. their local chapter in los angeles was fully aware of that when they decided to give a lifetime achievement award in 2009. one of the quotes on the record was that he does a lot for the youth in the community, particularly giving tickets to games for the clippers, and that was the excuse. that was their justification. we all know that doesn't hold water. that doesn't make any sense w t
10:24 pm
whatsoever. it needs to be an investigation as to what possibly warranted him receiving a lifetime achievement award. >> i don't think the nba handled this properly, are you happy with it? >> yes, i am. >> or do you have a problem with the fact they probably knew it ten years ago? >> he was an owner in the league. you can sit there and be accused of a lot of things. if he lost a case against the department of justice, if he had lost a case against his former vp for basketball operations, that would be different. but considering the fact he didn't lose in any of the cases, what jurisdiction would the nba have to get rid of him? we can understand how to frown upon it but plausibly speaking, they couldn't get rid of him as an owner. >> let me ask about the naacp
10:25 pm
we're going honor sterling and reverend sharpton. for those of you that didn't hear comments over the years, here is just a small sampling. >> you ain't nothing. you a punk [ bleep ]. come and do something. >> then the most recent development is that videotape of a younger al sharpton, heavier al sharpton with the deal and cocaine. we got the video. why are they honoring him? >> listen, that's for the naacp to answer. i'm certainly not here to judge al sharpton. we can look at a lot of things in his past. i know him personally and know as an african american, even though you can pull out tape, which i didn't know you were

10:27 pm
they're second-class citizens and the role they have in our society as a subservient nation. >> he was saying those things about the first black mayor of new york city. >> again, i would have to educate myself, i couldn't understand the tape and i'm just learning of it. i didn't know. >> love watching your show. thanks for being with us. coming up tonight right here on "hannity". >> it's almost to the point to say this man doesn't even like black people. he doesn't like being black. >> that language stoops to an all new low, but will this rhetoric be met with the same outrage that greeted donald sterling's racist comments and
