buildup. >> it's very brisk. >> it's more about food and fashion anyway. >> we have the latest on a story we have been following here for nearly two years, and that is benghazi. one of the questions from the very beginning we have been trying to get the answer to is where was the president during the attacks? the attacks went on for eight hours. what was president obama doing during that time? we know no one in the white house called for direct military support of the americans under fire in libya that night. what was he doing? well, it now turns out that the white house visitor logs reveal he was in debate prep. he had three aides join him that night including ron claim, the democrat well-known as a debate prepper, and apparently the president was preparing for debate. >> mr. dude, a number of senators have requested information from him and wanted to find out exactly where the president was as this event was unfolding. did anyone go to the situation room in the white house?

were you in debate prep the whole evening with these three aides or did you stay, did you wander off down the hallway down to the situation room? was anyone in the situation room as this was unfolding? when was hillary clinton during all this, too? she seemed to be watching in realtime what was unfolding in benghazi and she gets on the phone with the president at 150:00 p.m. and we still do not know the contents of the phone call because then did the president say, is this on video? or did hillary clinton watch this in realtime and make her own determination this was protest because of internet video. >> congress sent out subpoenas for information and we just found out after judicial watch had to sue to get the e-mail chain, or at least the documents of the 4:00 p.m. prep call with susan rice. so it's something we'll eventually get. we don't know where she got the

intelligence from that it was, in order to blame it on the internet video, where did she get the story from? we have not seen any e-mails or drafts, no talking points, outlines or anything like that. so is that something to come out soon? >> that's the question. the secretary of state then, hillary clinton, was the first person to suggest the attacks were the result of what he turned to inflammatory internet content. and yet there's no paper trail of any kind describing how she reached that conclusion. so it's a little strange. we do have a lot of documents from the various benghazi investigations, but nothing to show hillary clinton's thinking at that moment. is that an sent? she was the secretary of state? >> she was monitoring this in realtime and know the top military officials were also monitoring all of this in realtime from africon. the headquarter there is in germany, they had a 50-person

specials operation that could have gone into benghazi should they needed them. and there were a top numbq) of military officials watch this unfold in realtime. take a listen. >> benghazi takes eight hours. the president gives and order for prepare but never gives the order to execute. over 15 organizations or headquarters like the fbi, the cia, military, et cetera, and at least 100 staff in each one of those places were watching in realtime and listening to what was going on in benghazi. we were never given the order. there's no -- we could have been there within four hours to effect that battle. and we did not get the order from the president of the united states who is the only one who can give the order. >> this raises the topic that nobody wants to discover the answer to, why were they there in the first place? why were two dozen cia employees

in benghazi, libya, in a place hundreds of thousands of americans never heard of before this took place. why were they there? the rumors is they were trying to keep arms caps under control and were trying to keep them from going to the syria rebel. is that true? >> we haven't heard much. did that get swept under the rug? >> it has and is a viable question to help us understand what happened next. >> also the president wanted to make sure he could fix his narrative. osama bin ladin is dead, al qaeda is on its heels. and we have new information out today that 11 terrorists were linked to al qaeda and were reportedly arrested in malaysia? connection with the disappearance of the missing airliner. that is 239 people on board. >> why have we not heard about this? according this happened last week as they rounded up terrorists that they may have gotten on board to hijack the

aircraft buzz did not come forward. al qaeda almost immediately claims attack, but now officials are looking at 11 potentially al qaeda-linked terrorists who may have gotten on board and downed this aircraft. >> and apparently they conceded to be planning attacks in malaysia but denied being involved in the disappearance of the plane. but this continues to show you there's a lot going on that we don't know about. >> an international investigation. reportedly these were business people, students and a young widow. so quite a range of people there. >> and so that news is fascinating. we'll again continue to stay on top of that this morning. you can weigh in on the stories we are talking about at f foxandfriends.com. the search is on for a

missing army ranger. the man went missing after kayaking off the coast of baa least with another ranger. they kayak flipped over and the two were separated. the kayak and his friend have been found by the belize coast guard. the ranger's family has set up a website for donations to help in the search. leesburg served five tours of duty. overnight we have learned that the ferry that sank in south korea failed nearly 250 trip this is year carrying too much cargo. and worse, the exceeded cargo limits were never reported. officials believe this ferry may have been overloaded when it sank last month leaving more than 300 people missing or dead. a former minnesota congressman who represented his state for 36 years passed away. democrat jim oberstar was elected in 1974. in 2006 he became chairman of the house transportation committee.

in 2010 he retired from congress after losing to his gop competitor. oberstar's family said he died in his sleep in maryland. he was 79 years old. later today former president h.w. bush will be honored with the 2014 john f. kennedy profile encourage award. the award is given in recognition to political courage he demonstrated during the 1990 budget compromise. the event is being held later this morning in boston. president bush's granddaughter lauren bush will be accepting the award on his behalf. and those are your news headlines. all right. we talked about the horse race yesterday, it was quite a horse race. i don't want to boast much, but yesterday my dad said, who are you going to pick? and i said, california chrome. >> you did? no way. >> did you put any money on your prediction? >> i didn't put any money down. >> then prove it, clayton.

>> but this is an unlikely horse. $8,000 horse they spent on this foal. like everyone passed over this horse. they didn't want it or think it was race quality, but when they got it and bought this horse, the owners, $8,000, they said, some day this horse will win the kentucky derby. now think about it, when most of these guys race, they are upwards of $2 million sometimes to get the foals to make sure the dna and genetics in the horses is race quality. everyone passed over this horse. >> and it was just a few thousand dollar investment there. reportedly a couple months ago they were asked by some wealthier horse owners that they wanted to purchase them for $6 million. that's something you wouldn't turn down, turning a few thousand dollars into a million dollars. they said no. >> and they hired the oldest trainer ever to win the kentucky derby. in fact, they also have never been in the kentucky derby as a trainer before. he was just recently working at the ticket window at a racetrack to make ends meet.

>> so california chrome's mother was $8,000. so the foal everyone passed over potentially. watching him break out of the gate, he like sort of went off to the right-hand side with concerns he's got off track, but he held back and listen to the jockey later. he said, i just let him run his race. he wanted to go where he wanted to go and i just let him go. >> you picked this guy !ut didn't bet on him. will you be smart enough to submit the first movie trace on yesterday's race? >> like "seabiscuit"? >> i think i will get in on this. they were total amateurs. if you listen to the owners talk after the race, they were thrilled they had this up fold. we'll talk to them coming up later on the show. >> these guys didn't know what they were doing and won. >> it's a dark horse story. the numbers are in.

well, the government is releasing job numbers for april. the u.s. employment rate dropped to 6.3% down from 6.7% in march. the labor force added according to the government, 288,000 jobs. >> many say the numbers signal a turn-around in the economy, but do they prove the u.s. is back on track? joining us to weigh in is business and economics professor, brian, thank you for being here.

>> good morning. >> we should be running through the streets applauding, right? >> i wish it was like that. the jobs added at 288,000 is a good number, but if you look at what is driving the number is people leading the labor force. áuá$(p' go up and down for two reasons. and it looks like people are continuing to quit looking for jobs. >> and they are quitting looking because they can't find them or find jobs that pay well enough. >> it could be either one of them, but they are looking at the economy saying i can't find work that meets my requirements or pays the bills to take care of what i need to take care of. >> all the companies are hiring, you know, jobs, there's the report all the jobs across the country, so where is the disconnect? >> there are jobs across the country, right? but there are certain pockets in certain parts of the country where you are not getting the growth. there are skillsets that certain

industries value. there's a lot of dislocation going on. we need robust growth to get people back to work. >> it depends on what kind of jobs. come on now. the labor force participation rate strikes me as a more accurate way to understand, i don't know if we have what to put on the screen, but the percentage of american who is can work but aren't working in better measure, no? >> yeah. that's a good indication of what is the productive capacity of the country. >> why not use that number instead of these silly numbers? >> every measure tells you something different. and you have to look at every one of the measures to get a full picture. the headlines are giving us one-two measures to create a distorted picture of how much better the economy is. >> every time the jobs come out the obama administration revises the numbers to say we are going up, looking good. >> that may be the case, but

a battle over land heating up in indiana where one city is trying to use the power of em in any event eminent domain. indiana is the capital of roundabouts using property that belongs to them. but homeowner sandra vincent is not giving up without a fight and her daughter leah is joining us this morning. nice to see you both. welcome to the show. >> thank you for having us. >> sandra, how did you first learn about the city planning to take your property? >> at the first public hearing, which was in february of 2013. >> so you didn't get a letter or anything? you found out at a public hearing? >> correct. correct. >> and what did you r'k when you found out that the city was planning to take your property? >> well, at that point it was a just taking a part of the yard. and i was devastated over that.

>> and this house as we mentioned that be in your house since 1948. you remember growing up as a little girl playing there. leah, when you first heard about this, why my house? why this house? >> it was devastating. this is more than a house. this is our family heritage, our history. my mother grew up in the house, i grew up next door and was frequently in the house visiting my grandparents. it is just unbelievable. >> sandra, what justification did the city give for claiming that they are going to take your property? >> they can. >> that's it? >> that's it. they can, by law, they legally can take it. >> now, i understand that -- go ahead, i'm sorry. >> within eminent domain, there's nothing you can do if you're the defendant in the case. you're virtually helpless. >> i understand the plans to build the roundabout had changed. they were in a different location, is that your understanding as well?

what happened there, explain that. >> originally in the public meeting we found they were going to take part of our yard. well, because of some environmental issues over an oil tank that they had not researchered properly, so therefore because of their negligence they had the plans drawn incorrectly and had to be changed. and the roundabout had to be moved farther south. well, one of the property openers to the southeast didn't want to give up some of his property. it was a multibillion company that owned the property, so it ended up that instead of moving it to the south, he just bought the property directly south of me, too. so the next thing we knew, they were taking my house. the roundabout was moving back north and they were taking my house. so in other words, they chose to

destroy our lives in preference to a multibillion company. >> that's how you read it, yeah. he was able to make a quick phone call and say, go pick don the little guy down the street. we understand in eminent doe main cases that it's -- the justification is for ÷he greater good of the city. do you think that moving it to your house makes it for the greater good of the city? >> well, we understand progress, things move on. we're not fighting to keep the house because we would lose, we know that they have the legal right to take it, but our contingent is they have favored a multibillion company. this ground i'm talking about is vacant land where they could have put the roundabout. but they are taking our -- >> they didn't realize the oil tank was there that could have contaminati

check it out. >> i love the fred astair moment in the film. how did they shoot that? it could have been done so many ways. explain it. do they build a set? >> spider-man, every surface is a floor. so i wanted to go up the wall on the ceiling and lay back, and they were like, how do we do they built a rotating room. it was like a spider-man ride. it was so much fun, just trapsing around the room. >> how do pieces of the room not move? >> they staple down everything, everything is really secure, like bolted to each surface. so there's no flapping of paper or anything. >> that's kind of like what they do with my hair and the hairspray. spray it so it will never move. is this worth the money? >> i give it 3.5 out of 5. solid but not great. clayton, i don't know if you agree with me. they had cool action, 3d worked.

welcome back. a miami senior facing charges for hacking into his school's website and changing the grades. jose batista was faced with multiple accounts and could face explulgs. and three california teenagers busted for stealing a

comic book's "flinstone" mobile. that helps. now i can see it. it's the "flinstone" mobile. the opener asked the three boys to dress up as flinstones characters and work for him on free comic book day. the boys dance and wave signstt store. the flinstone mobile. a girl was inspired when her best friend's dad was deployed to afghanistan. she made it her mission to write letters to those overseas. and now the organization has sent out more than75,000 letter. savannah is here with us, thank you for being here. tell us where you got this idea

from? >> my best friend's daughter said, hey, savannah, my dad is going to be deployed. so i googled it and decided her dad was going to war and i wanted to help out. i had never experienced anything like that and couldn't imagine how she felt. so i sang a song for her and she was overjoyed. we decided to do more. so i started writing letters to soldiers. her dad is italian, and we were getting kids coming around the neighborhood and writing letters at the table. so that's how it started, and it just started growing and growing. and then matt lauer picked us up and got us on the "today" show. so from now we have collected 75,000 letters since then, so it's gotten pretty awesome. >> all from your kitchen table. i know your goal is 100,000 at

the end of the year. so hopefully after being on "fox and friends" it will grow. have you received response from soldiers? >> we have. soldiers can connect to us on facebook and they message us on facebook and send back pictures of them receiving the letter. and i receive the letters from the kids and proofread them and send them. so it's cool for them to see them full circle. >> you say everyone is always smiling when they send you the picture. does that make you smile, too? >> it does. it's amazing to know you are distracting them from the situation they are in and to have a moment of peace and to read a letter. >> you are 13 years old, a singer, songwriter, doing all this for the heroes, you are quite impressive. who on earth got you started doing this type of thing and encouraged you? >> it was my best friend, we are like this, and it was all for her. >> she's from a military family so she moves around a lot.

friends" on the weekend? it would be good for our numbers, i can tell you that. >> meanwhile, a lot of critics are saying, this is what you did with executive action, but where are the actions on benghazi or the red lines in ukraine? what sort of action will we take about vladimir putin there? and what about job creation? we just talked earlier on the show about the jobs numbers and the amount of people not looking for jobs with the jobs numbers improving but people leaving the workforce are not looking for work anymore. >> the measure is phony. in georgetown or malibu, you know the country is hurting. go to the left interior north america and they have been in trouble a lot. why is that? president obama had an explanation in yesterday's weekly address. watch this. >> but we could do a lot more if republicans in congress were less interested in stacking the deck in favor of those at the top and more interested in growing the economy for

won't get through after six years? we have cautionary signs from the april's job report, 543,000 fewer people seeking work, no housing rebound, high school graduates are dropping out, losing out, flat wages and 45,000 more men working two full-time jobs. >> wages and working people have not gone up in 50 years and are lower than 50 years ago. let's let in a million more people from other countries to make sure that makes things better, plus that won't undercut the wages for americans. that's the president's plan for a country that has a lot of unemployed people to bring in more people to cut their wages? >> let's put out the middle of the graphic which is the housing stall. builders used to build the houses hoping people will buy them, but now builders say, when you go to outtaburger and you

have to wait for six to seven minutes to order the way you want. we literally have to wait. and if you want to house it, you have to build it. >> not to mention the people where you see the outsource where construction companies build homes and run out of money or someone decided to pull out and now you have the skeleton of a house just standing there. >> is there a single person anywhere? have we had a single guest on any channel, any reputable economist who looks at obamacare and says, yes, this is a great thing and a net creator of jobs. i have not heard anyone make that case. if you care about the economy and support obamacare and increase low wage immigration, i don't know. that doesn'ted up to a coherent world view. >> friends can weigh in to sound off. and other stories making headlines this sunday. we just learned that malaysian officials are now denying that

11 al qaeda terrorists arrested last week are connected to the disappearance of malaysian flight 370. the suspects were reportedly being questioned in malaysia following demands from international investigators. but police say the militants are under arrest for training fighters to send to syria. a search underway this morning for an army ranger from texas who vanished at sea. randall leesburg went missing off the coast with another ranger when the kayak flipped over and the two were separated. one ranger was found by the belize coast guard. the ranger's family set up a website to allow you to donate to search for him. a battle in indiana where one city is trying to use thip % power of eminent domain to take over a family's property. the vincents have owned this house since 1948 but now officials want to build a roundabout where this stands.

>> this is the quite the luxury. the 77-year-old trainer doesn't have a lot of experience, but more of a dark horse is, do you think this will be made into a hollywood movie. >> it shower could be if you know the circumstances involving this horse. it's like a dream come true. >> why do you think the openers picked you? >> well, a lot had to go with -- i was visiting my son in northern california. and they told me in the panic and said, listen, i'm going to send you a horse, and i think it's a good one. and sure enough, here comes california chrome as a 2-year-old coming into the barn. and it's a storybook.

people don't realize, they send me a text with the road to the derby, and i'm like, do you realize what kind of road that is, you must know somebody upstairs to be that lucky. so the first horse, baby, getting to the races. and sure enough on the derby road, we he won all four races and a remarkable experience. >> i'm curious if you think this is going to shake-up horse racing forever. a lot of people spend $2 million from a hour. do you think people will rethink the way they spend money on horses? >> i think it will help the breeding end of it, which always

you know, tñe coq brothers are to blame. all kinds of crazy stuff. so why is it important to have this panel be bipartisan? >> well, it's important because of the fact that if it is simply a republican panel, it will be easier for democrats to say and for some people to doubt whether this is really a nonpartisan effort. whether this is all about politics, all about the 2014 midterm and trying to damage hillary clinton. you know, i think it will be interesting to see what nancy pelosi does on this. on one hand, i believe she wants democrats represented to argue their side of the case and ask the questions they think will be helpful to their argument. on the other hand, were she not to participate, then it would make it a republican panel and much more partisan in the minds of a lot of people. >> so, chris, the congress has

looking into benghazi for a year and a half, how is the panel different, do you think? >> well, it's a select committee, which means it brings together all of the various committees. you have separate investigations going on from foreign affairs and from oversight in intelligence. this brings everybody together, but i have to say, i think it's a risky strategy. and i tell you, speaker boehner was not enthused about this. they was dragged kicking and screaming into it. i talked to the white house correspondent at the dinner last night dubious about this saying, look, when you have a select committee and people think back to iran and water gate, it immediately raises the idea that you'll is some great break through and we'll find out about the white house tapes. now that may happen but it may not happen and can be disapointing. and there's a real risk for republicans if they are seen

pursuing this issue as important as it generally is and outraged like americans are, let alone the families of the four americans killed. but it can be seen razz well. they are pursuing benghazi instead of talking about jobs and education and a lot of issues to affect those daily lives. >> we know they are frustrated because they feel the trickle of documents coming out. we see the e-mail that they were furious to learn this fame of information request was not given over to them earlier this week. you'll be talking about benghazi on your show today. who do you have on this? >> kelly ayotte, the senator from new hampshire edge lindsey graham and john mccain has been a senator calling for answers for months, and a democratic committee, adam schiff. >> on the economy, you have a fedex ceo and who else?

1990 budget compromise. clayton? thank you, tucker. well, trophy husbands are ruling the playground as their high-powered wives bring home the bacon. but are female breadwinners a problem? here is chris scholls, meila foster and joanne jawinsky. camille, is there a problem with women earning more than men? >> it certainly can cause problems. any time you are running against convention, i suspect there could be problems, tension with friends and family and those judgmental, but if your relationship is strong and if you understand it's about supporting one another, then i don't think it should be a fundamental problem you can't overcome in a marriage. >> i get the cultural argument, guys, i can see -- we can all weave through cultural issues,

but isn't there some biological need for the man to be the caveman. is it emasculating if we don't do it? >> i agree the traditional gender roles is that the man takes care of the woman and problems can arrive. and a lot of men face their identity on being able to take care of their families and kind of bring home the bacon. i think that is emasculating, but i'm not saying it's right. there can be problems if you are supportive of each other. maybe you wouldn't necessarily start out as a problem but could turn into one. >> joanne, is there a biological need for the men to take care of the women? >> yes, but it doesn't need to be financially. there are other ways to take care of the family. you can be the head of the household without being the one who makes the most money. unfortunately, money is tied to pride, so you need to make sure you find the man who doesn't

have the insecurities because that's when it gets tricky. >> but would you lose respect for the guy home doing the laundry, they are taking care of the kids and doing the other things. when you come home from a long day, sometimes it doesn't matter and add up to the day you had. >> i think that good work, as long as it is honest work, is good work. and so long as you are working to your best ability, money doesn't necessarily mean success. >> i agree. it doesn't necessarily mean drive, but i think that it's all about communication and kind of keeping those lines of communication open because right now gender roles are blurred, so there's a new set of rules and new ways to kind of talk about what's going on and keep everything open like that. >> you are talking about the cultural issues. do we have any social pressures in this country, too? is there a shift here? we think about norway and other

i'm very concerned about it's effect on our veterans and their families. and i'm doubly concerned about whether or not this is systemic and whether or not it's a result of what's happening to corrupt influence at the highest levels of government today in america. when you see dishonesty and the duplicity in the things like the affordable care act, obamacare or you can keep your doctor if you want. you can keep your plan if you want. and then the things they have done with the i.r.s. investigating conservatives, the lies around the video of benghazi, the fast and furious in mexico, and you see those things happen and the people of our country do, and the people working our government, yet nothing is happening to those people. no accountability. so when they get in a jam and there are a lot of pressure in these jobs running a big v.a. hospital, they might tend to take that course as well

thinking that, you know, that's okay. that's acceptable, but the real serious repercussion of this, long term, is that the young americans who we depend on to enlist the men and women come into our armed services, we have a compact with them to take care of them if they are hurt while they are serving us. and that's the v.a.'s job. and if they become cynical about that, we're not going to have people show up and volunteer for the kind of rigger we put them through in the service and uniform. this has the potential for some really serious repercussions to our society. >> it's a great point. and it's very hard to explain how this happened because money was not a factor. and to put numbers on the screen here, it is not like the veterans died because we could not afford to treat them. in 2006 when you ran the v.a., the administration had a budget of $71 billion. 2014, $150.9 billion. then when you ran it, 220,000

employees. now 312,000, but the veterans population has dropped considerably. so this makes it harder to they have the money, they have the staff and still 40 people died because they gave sub-standard care, what is that? >> well, you know, overall, we still have to get to the real facts of this. and there are hundreds of thousands of really good people that are working at the v.a., and i include the secretary and inspector general among those, but we have to get to the bottom of this and find out whether this is systemic, whether it is going on throughout the system or whether it's a one-off. and i sure hope it's the latter, but whatever it is, they then have to take very decisive action to see that this back sis is stopped. and it's not happening, by the way, for lack of resources as you just pointed out, because the american people have funded the v.a. generously as part of

craig, alicia and their 10-year-old daughter as well as reckless are here with us. not only did you find him at the shelter, he's the first one that comes out to you. aleash that, start with what happened. how did you lose reckless? >> after sandy we were -- our landlord was in foreclosure and wasn't making any repairs on a house. we were living in bad conditions there. he got out through a hole in the fence. it actually ripped off his old collar. and name tag. and i mean, of course we went out looking for him but we have no idea how long he was out before that. >> you're just in dire straits, right, chuck? >> yes. >> you're sitting there for days, weeks, pumping raw sewage out of your home, you lose your little baby, reckless. the collar is gone. nobody can return him. explain the searching process, high and low. >> when we saw the collar in the

fence, you try to be responsible. his name was on the collar, our phone number was on the collar, all that. we go up to the normal streets where we usually walked him and things like that, then you start to go desperate, start going places you haven't been. the next thing you know, it's an hour and a half, two hours later, and you still don't have him. you leave the gate open and hope he finds his way home. >> alexandra, were you scared that something terrible happened to reckless? >> i was really scared. >> did you cry? were you worried? >> yes, i was worried. >> eventually you decide we've given up hope, searched high and low, it's time to adeposit a new dog. explain what happened, alicia. >> we originally went to the associated humane. they don't adopt to families with children under 5. it's their policy now. we have a 2-year-old and 3-year-old as well. the hotel we're relocated at

the senators, among others, members of the house of representatives, have been trying to get answers, documents, e-mails, phone call information about exactly what unfolded in the white house, what we now know that according to white house visitor logs, the president was in debate preparations with three different aides, getting ready for the election with michael donlin and others. >> the question remained for the last 20 months, where was president obama. we had a guest on with brett bear earlier this week. i don't remember the dude. i don't know where he was. he wasn't in the situation room with me. it appears that politics was playing a biggr role -- more of an important role anyway in the president's life than taking care of the four lives that were lost. >> this matters, for a couple of reasons.

this is not endless harping on the president. this attack took place over eight hours. >> right. >> if it turns out the president, aware of the attack was occurring, but they didn't send help, continued to do debate prep, i think that's a revealing fact. moreover, another thing we still don't know is hillary clinton's role in this. we know she was the first person to, i believe, describe this attack. we don't anything about that. we don't know her conversations on that. no e-mails were released with her in them at all. >> if you reverse engineer, she was watching this unfold in real time. as were other generals at the time and other members of the military. they were watching the life drone feed that was over it from africom in stuttgart, germany. if you have a secretary of state who's watching an embassy or a consulate being attacked do you not think there would maybe be interruption of debate prep.

>> you would hate to think the president, we don't know this, that he would continue debate prep as a u.s. consulate comes under attack . if that's true, that's up setting. >> we had the uncle of sean smith, one of the four americans that lost their lives, on the show earlier. take a listen. >> the president and hillary clinton made a political decision as opposed to a security decision. and they should be ashamed of themselves. they should be ashamed that they actually had the unmitigated gull to go to -- before the caskets of my nephew and three other americans and lie to the mothers and fathers and widows of these brave americans. how shameful. how chilling is this? >> yes, it certainly is shameful.

this alleged cover-up of this alleged cover-up, could it even be worse than what actually was unfolding? you know, if the president did indeed fail to make the call to move, to go rescue these guys, you know, it was all a political decision because they were scared there would be some type of failure, it wouldn't be a seemless thing or look good ahead of the election, and it wouldn't fit their narrative, why didn't they switch their narrative and say al qaeda is still a threat, why do we want to change leadership right now? why didn't they switch their narrative? why did they have to stick to that and let four people die. >> because the bumper stickers were printed already. >> there was a 50-man special forces unit in croatia, ready to be called, could have responded within a few hours. a lot of people on the left were saying there was no one nearby. even if they gave an order, no one could have responded. colonel hunt said they could have done something, gone in

there and maybe saved lives saerl. what a shame. a search under way this morning fon an army ranger from texas who vanished at sea. wrangler leaseburg went missing after kayaking with another ranger. the kayak flipped over and they were separated. his family set up a website for donations to help in the search. he has served five tours of duty. new overnight, we have learned the ferry thpá sank in south korea sailed nearly 250 trips in the past year, carrying too much cargo. and even worse, the exceeded cargo limits were never reported. officials believe the ferry may have been overloaded when it sank last month, leaving more than 300 people missing or dead. it's a case of kids gone wild. this massive party in canada drew nearly 2,000 teenagers to a mansion under construction. the party caught on social media with the hash tag mansion party. police arrived but the party didn't stop.

some even taking selfies with the cops. the blowout caused more than $70,000 worth of damage to the home, apparently being arrested isn't enough to stop kids from tweeting. one posting this, just got released from jail after getting arrested for assaulting a police officer at last night night's #mansionparty. are you kidding me? ever wonder why we remember some things so well but others seem to fade away? >> alcohol? ♪ because i'm happy ♪ ♪ if you feel like a room without a roof ♪ >> happy memories last longer than bad ones. maybe that's why relationships that end, then get back together, back together, all the good times. >> keep marrying the same person. >> it's rose colored glasses. you get back together, wait a minute, that stinks. >> let go of the bitterness.

did you watch the kentucky derby yesterday? it was so good. the fastest two minutes of course in all of spores and the unlikeliest of horses managed to pull it out. the kentucky derby champion california chrome, you know, this is one of those amazing hollywood stories, you know, the foal of a horse that nobody wanted. really pennies on the dollar. they pay $2 million for most horses. his mom, this horse's mom, $8,000. they didn't think this horse ha÷ a chance. we spoke to the trainer earlier. he got two hours of sleep last night, art sherman. he talked about this unlikely story. listen to art. >> if you know all the circumstances involving this horse, it's like a dream coming true. people don't realize, you know, they sent me this text and said the road to the derby. i said, wow, he hasn't even started. and i said the road to the derby? i said you realize what kind of road that is? you know?

and it was like a miracle. i said you must have some -- you must know somebody upstairs to be that lucky, you know, because first horse, baby getting to the races. sure enough, on that road to the derby text, he won all four races and then he won the fifth, the kentucky derby. it's a remarkable story, really. >> i don't know who i'm impressed by more, the horse or its trainer. art sherman had never had a horse in the kentucky derby before. he's 77 years old, by far t$e oldest trainer ever to win. he was working at the ticket window at racetracks up until pretty recently to pay the bills. he was not anybody's first pick for a trainer and now his horse won. by the way, not just the kentucky derby but the four preceding events. >> it's amazing. i asked him on the show, do you think this will up-end horse racing? they spend millions of dollars. they took a chance on this horse

are the re.a., the reason behind the drop. here is the host of "sunday morning futures" maria bartiromo. >> good morning. thank you so much. >> the people that left the labor force in april, 806,000. is this because they can't find good enough jobs or can't find work altogether. >> they are leaving, stopping looking because they can't find a job. while the numbers look good, more than 200,000 jobs created, it does not include the number of people who have actually left. it's a whole host of reasons. i think the most prominent reason is because they can't find a job, they get frustrated and they stop looking and they're not counted. >> why this measurement? why do we do it with this rate? same with the inflation rate. why is this the gold standard? >> it's a head scratcher. i really don't know why we do it this way. as long as we continue to watch the participation rate you can see the real numbers behind the numbers. the same thing happens with other economic data, like the ppi, why do we not include food and energy?

when in fact that's probably the two commodities that we use most. >> let's take a look at some of the other cautionary signs in this jobs report, too. you can dissect them, 543,000 fewer people seeking work. the no housing rebound. high school graduates school out, losing out, flat wages, all-around wage stagnation, 45,000 more men working two full-time jobs. dissect that if you want. >> part of the issue is we do not see employers hiring those people who have the skill sets required to get the jobs that are needed. you know, some jobs require skill sets, training, we don't have that kind of education for people. so low-paying jobs are available. you take a situation like keystone. keystone would actually create jobs that are high paying. those jobs that are long-term and that create jobs that require skill sets. we just don't have that. you know, since the 2008 upset, the recession, i think white

collar jobs have been dropping. that's why you see so much entrepreneurialism, people saying let me try to start my own company, it's gotten cheaper to do so. you've seen jobs in technology and health care but we should be a lot farther along at this point in the sike. >> i want to talk to you about this toyota announcement. they've had a presence in california since the 1950s. texas able to lure them away with less regulation and tax incentives. what can we learn from governor rick perry in the great state of texas. >> i'll have on the ceo of the dallas federal reserves. texas job creation, a much better unemployment rate than the rest of the country, job creation, economic growth than the rest of the country? you have to look at the policies in texas. no corporate tax. it's an environment where companies want to be, toyota included. companies are going to texas because it's a better environment and as a result, they are creating more jobs. let's not forget business creates jobs, not government. if you create an environment
