on why there are so few republican journalists and i am angry about how the airlines are treating you. caution. you are about to enter the no spin zone. the factor begins right now. ♪ ♪ hi, i'm bill o'reilly. thanks for watching us tonight. what happened while i was away? that is the subject of this evening's talking points memo. well, the benghazi situation is fairly clear. it's now apparent the obama administration tried to mislead americans about what happened to ambassador christopher stephens and three her men killed by terrorists in libya. even though a congressional committee has been formed, we pretty much know what happened. what we don't know is that president obama was directly involved and that will be tough to nail down. what we do know is ambassador stevens traveled to the backwater of benghazi despite the fact it was a

dangerous place. organized terrorists knew the ambassador's location and planned their attack. american military knew quickly that the terrorists were causing damage but no one would give the order for the u.s. military to it move into libya. no one. thus, the four americans were killed and subsequently no terrorists have been held accountable. some believe fault lies with hillary clinton then secretary of state. but to be fair, mrs. clinton was running all over the world ant didn't really have her attention on lynn i can't. why should she? with iran, syria, north korea all causing trouble. mrs. clinton had her handsful. to blame her for the attack in libya not fair. yes the bad and state department was warned. those are usually handled by others, not the secretary of state. however, after the attack, now hillary clinton should have stepped up and explained the situation. instead, she, herself, referred to an anti-muslim video as insighting the violence. she went along with what the obama administration was falsely putting out from

there. that was wrong. and that's on her. the key question right now is: did president obama himself actually come up with the the false narrative? and no committee is ever going to get that defined unless a guy like john dean steps forward. dean was white house counsel style nixon and his testimony took the president down. the congressional committee will uncover some facts, unless a white house insider comes forward, the president will not likely be affected. there is a second scandal surrounding benghazi and that is that some in congress don't want to know the truth. just like vice president gerald ford during watergate, they are in denial. >> the president was in the process of negotiating with the soviet union. the president was trying to end the war in vietnam. i'm sure he turned to those running the re-election campaign and said: i have these major matters that involved the national security and the well-being of the american people and

you run the campaign therefore i'm convinced he had nothing whatsoever to do with watergate. >> it iseery, the same kind of stuff being said today about benghazi diversion, subterfuge, benghazi, benghazi, benghazi. why aren't we talking about something else? >> the so-called scandals scands have not diverted us one iota. >> we have already had thousands and thousands of pages of testimony. two by tart san committees in the senate. this is a waste of taxpayer money. >> again, supporters of the president simply do not want to know. now, as far as the irs scandal is concerned, the one woman who could break the case, lois lerner has been held in contempt of congress as you know. if a federal grand jury is convened, ms. lerner could be charged with a crime and that is the only way, the only way she might tell the world what happened. if she can make some kind of deal. just one man will make that decision.

the u.s. attorney for the the district of columbia, ronald machen. it's up for him alone to call for a grand jury. he works for attorney general eric holder and was appointed by president obama. so talking points does not expect ms. learn tore face a criminal proceeding. did the white house actually order the irs to target conservative groups? the president denied it to me on super bowl sunday and again we are not likely to get to the bottom of this because our system is flawed. you can't make lerner talk. for political reasons and, you know. in other matters, a muslim terrorist group kidnapped 300 girls. mostly ages 16 to threw 18 in nigeria. once again the world is shocked by accusations of radical muslim terrorists. scores of islamic groups terrorizing civilians all over the world. yet, what are the muslim nations doing about it? very little. should be a summit among muslim nations. organizing against the jihadists, but there is nothing. if you dare speak out

against the muslim world, you're a bigot. you are a terrible person. i mean, how much trouble can one group cause on this earth? everybody knows most muslims are good people but a substantial minority cause trouble. muslim countries like iran, pakistan, syria, openly kill civilians with little accountability. another problem that seems to have no solution. kidnapping little girls? i mean, finally, very interesting social situation here in the u.s.a. gay football player michael sam drafted by the national football league to play for the st. louis raments, got a lot of coverage, mr. sam kissed his boyfriend on camera, all of that some pro-players objected to the cog and pony show. they were immediately trashed. talking points says this: let mr. sam play football, if he makes the rams, great. but the gay thing, way overplayed. it's annoying. it really is.

>> is it wrong? remember, watergate, the third rate burglary? that was the first -- it was almost like the democrats today it was almost like nancy pelosi. it's almost exactly the same. third rate burglary. all right? doesn't matter. these guys, the plumbers broke into the watergate to try to find stuff about the democratic campaign. that's what we heard. we heard it and heard it and heard it. that's exactly what we are hearing in benghazi. this isn't a big deal. isn't it eerie? it's almost exactly the same. >> i think it's the same in the sense that in both cases we had a coverup. but, look, bill, before we start making water gate comparisons, it's worth remembering that nearly 70 people were accused in the end of crimes in watergate and i think 48 or so were convicted. so, we're a long way from talking about anything on that scale. >> we're not a long way from how the politicians are

reacting. we're right there. and, when you are talking about a water gate break-in for political intelligence, which it was, as opposed to an american ambassador being murdered, what story do you think is more important? now, just on the face of it just on the face. watergate break-in, okay, ambassador stevens and three others murdered? benghazi is a bigger story. it's a bigger story than the initial break. in what separates it is, richard nixon covering it up to the extent where he had to leave office. and it took a while for them to uncover that but it certainly is possible in this case that it could lead to barack obama. i'm not saying it did. but it's possible. >> well, yeah. there is still so much we don't know that we can't really say. i'm just saying watergate turned out to be, you know, a crime wave, and until we see something that indicates something on that scale, i just think that watergate comparisons are best left on the shelf.

thanks for staying with us, i'm bill o'reilly. in the weekdays with bernie segment tonight. two hot topics, beginning with the new survey university says four times as many democrats than republican notice media the pro-size stats are these. republican journalists 7%. democrats 28%. independents 50%. and joining us now from louisville, kentucky, the purveyor of bernard goldberg.com mr. goldberg. i think people who hire journalists hire liberal like themselves. that's why the cycle per pet waits, what say you? >> i say the poll is ridiculous. let's start with that the 7% who identify themselves as republicans. i will buy that. but only 28% of journalists say they are democrats and 50% say they are independents? impossible. a few years ago, i predicted that precisely this would

happen because they know the american people think they are liberal, which they are. they know the american people think they root for democrats, and they do. so they say, when the pollsters come around, they say no, no, we are independent. bias, democrat? no, this is a conservative delusion. and i will bet you if you injected these people with truth serum about 85% would admit they voted for barack obama twice. >> i think that's the poll that somebody did. i don't know how accurate you could be with that, but it was overwhelming vote for barack obama. but i think that the reason behind the liberalism in reporting is because the people who hire are liberals and they don't want people who aren't. i mean, we discussed this before, if you walk into the "new york times" newsroom or nbc news newsroom and you have a pro-life point of

view, you are against abortion, you are ostracized. you can't exist there. >> exactly. exactly. that's why it is not just time, bill. it is long past time to adopt one of my many, many brilliant ideas. and that is affirmative action for republican in the media. >> in the media, right. >> this smallest minority in the american newsroom. you just told me this ridiculous poll but the 7%, i will buy that. if 7%, a lot more than 7% of the american people vote for the republican candidate, right? >> sure. >> so let's jump through a few hoops. >> we need them in college professors hiring too. >> absolutely right on that list. >> and, talking about colleges, condoleezza rice, former secretary of state very distinguished woman, very intelligent woman was

invited by rutgers university, bernie goldberg's alma mater to give a commencement speech. immediately a pinhead alert was sounded. roll the tape. >> she played a rom meant role in the bush administration's to mislead the american people about the presence of weapons of mass destruction and she at the very least condoned the bush administration's policy of enhanced interrogation techniques such as waterboarding. and that does it for me. >> commencement speaker is honoring the speaker and also offering a students. and i think we could make better choices than to pick condi rice. >> you see now those pinheads, they don't know what they are doing because under that yardstick, you couldn't have anybody in the obama administration because they use drones. all right? >> exactly. >> drones is worse than waterboarding. you can't have anybody. >> exactly. barack obama won the nobel prize and he has killed more people with drones than any person in the history of the planet earth.

now, i'm not against that for the most part. but, as you say, using that standard, you couldn't have him. hillary clinton voted when she was a senator, voted for going to war with iraq. and, by the way, my alma mater, they paid over $30,000 to get that snooki from new jersey shore, they paid her over $30,000 it to speak on campus. granted, they went were giving her an honorary doctorate, but snooki is okay and condoleezza rice is not okay. >> and very few people know this. >> there is something way out of whack there. >> very few people know this but i believe in her teens snooki did take part in some waterboarding down in, i think it was egg harbor, new jersey, very little known story. >> i think that happened. and, unfortunately, the waterboarding didn't take. >> wasn't she being waterboarded, it wasn't her. >> no, she was doing it. >> let's get off this. now, you are involved with

rutgers to some extent. do you have an honorary -- what do you have there? >> well, i was -- well, this is a little, you know, i will be modest and say i was inducted into the equivalent of their hall of fame. the hall of distinguished. but that's why i'm especially troubled by. this you want to be proud of your alma mater. i'm ashamed of my alma mater it. now, the president of rutgers was on the right side of this. he thought condi rice should speak and he made that very clear. but what he didn't do, and so many presidents, they are just weak. what he didn't do is he should have told the professors i understand your position. i get it. now, move on. you are not going to agree with everybody all the time. and the students, he should have said to them, if any of you screw up this commencement exercise, and i have the power to do it, you won't get your diploma. >> you are a fascist. >> you will will get arrested and you won't get your dip employee matchett

watters world recently two democrat congressman attacked republican party, essentially calling it racist. so, we called steve israel and benny thompson, inviting them on the program here. they declined. and we thought that was irresponsible. if you are going to call someone a racist. you have got to back it up. right? so we sent watters out to engage the congressman. ♪ ♪ >> i'm jesse watters with the o'reilly factor. i'm actually one of your constituents. you said that the republican base was animated by racism. can you explain that? >> well, you know, you are picking up on something that was out of context and happened three weeks ago. so i question why you would even ask that three weeks after. >> because we have invited you on the show a number of times and you keep declining. >> we need get away from describing motives and pass comprehensive immigration

>> well, in the course of the conversation i've looked at a lot of his decisions, people i represent had a real problem with his lack of sensitivity. >> reporter: but you don't believe he's an uncle tom, do you? that's pretty disparainging, isn't it? >> i disagree with his opinion as it relates to people of color. >> reporter: you don't think all black republicans are uncle toms, do you? >> didn't know the supreme court justice was a republican. >> reporter: well, you said that a lot of his initiatives and policies he supports are republican policies. can't you be black and be republic republican? >> well, i don't say he was a republican. i say i disagree with his republica republicans. >> you said opposition of president obama is based on racism.

>> reporter: how do you know t that? >> when you look at the demographics of a district like mine where the majority of the people are african american who stand in the benefit, there is problems. those individuals lack the sensitivity to oppose that, president obama's policies have historically addressed many of those needs. >> reporter: blacks have suffered a lot under obama's policies, record unemployment, record poverty, it's going in the opposite direction of the policies is ratest, how does it make sense to you? >> blacks have no suffered. >> reporter: that's just not true with all due respect. you went on cnn but you didn't

come on fox news channel. you don't have a problem with fox, do you? >> cnn asked me for my comments, and i gave them, just like i gave you my months just now. >> reporter: but the o'reilly factor has been inviting you on for a couple weeks, but you declined. why is that? >> well, i'm not aware of it, but i choose who i talk to, and i talked to you. >> all right. well, he came off better than israel. >> a little better. >> at least he engaged you. >> yeah, he stopped and talked. >> and he was polite. he's wrong about black unemployment. it's good you chucked him. >> 7% under bush and 12 to 16% under president obama. >> but israel is my congressman, too. watters lives in the poor neighborhood. >> not poor compared tow yo.

challenge. american airlines three hours late taking off from los angeles, three hours. why? they didn't have a crew. no crew available. funny. the flight was scheduled about eight months in advance. once the plane took off a, the video, visual didn't work. jet was at the gate about four hours, nobody could fix the audio, visual system? why? because nobody cared. miller had the same experience. his flight from l.a. to honolulu three hours late, as well. why? same reason. no crew. now americans' employees under paid were fine. they did their jobs well. but management screwed up, and management doesn't really care. we have to fly, so why should they sweat it? is the solution. a new law called the airline passenger protection act. plane is more than two hours
