10:03 am
this. chris wallace, anchor of fox news sunday. i don't know, chris, if you are a betting man, but what would bet the odds are of harry reid ceding to the wishes and putting together a committee to investigate benghazi. >> it is a sure thing. it is not going to happen. the talk that it is partisan, it is certainly partisan enough and you can make an argument that o and the house should hold hearings on benghazi. there is no chance that the democrats led by harry reid will allow a select committee in the the senate. now having said that. we have had select committees in the past. watergate was a select committee and others are both houses. and the investigation will be
10:04 am
just the house and not senate. >> there is interesting numbers. many democrats said benghazi is not an issue that resonates with americans. but when asked if the president knowingly lied about what was going on in benghazi, 57 percent said, i am sorry, poppercent, i misread that. he lied to help his reelection campaign. 39 percent said no. and then a question that brings former secretary of state hillary clinton in the mix, has similar numbers when asked if secretary clinton and the president tried to deceive. president obama gets a 54 percent mark for trying to sdoef the american public. and hillary clinton 50 percent. and only 38 percent said the president was honest. those are ominous numbers for
10:05 am
the president and former secretary of state. >> yeah, there is a lot of unanswered questions. and the white house was not helped a couple of weeks ago when under a court order because a conservative watch dog group sued under the freedom of administration act that the administration had to release documents despite what jay carney had been saying, in fact a top white house advisor ben rh odesadvoiced susan rice to blame the attacks and benghazi on the video. that leads to a growing suspici suspicion. there is a lot of democrats and not only republicans and independents, but democrats questioned whether or not the administration is telling the straight story on benghazi. >> asked whether congress should establish a special committee to investigate benghazi, two-thirds
10:06 am
of those respond nothing the fox news poll said yes. 67 percent said let's get to the bottom of it with a congressional special committee and that will land with a thud on the doorstep of harry reid. and we have one on the house side. when asked if reid and the republicans in congress want to investigate benghazi. 64 percent said it is all political gain. no matter the motivation, the public believes in large part it is more politics than getting to the truth. >> yeah, those two things are notes inially contradictory. you can think that the administration sdoefd the american public about benghazi and what really happen there and feel that a year and half later, 20 months later when republicans timely decide to announce and form a select committee. they are doing it for political
10:07 am
reasons, my guess to a large degree both of those are true and people sense that. >> i want to get your attack on what susan rice had to say, this came as a lunchion and they asked her what else is there this administration could provide regarding benghazi. and this is how she answered that question. >> danning if i know. i moan honestly. the administration has produced 25,000 pages of documents or 25,000 individual documents. they supported and contributed to the the investigations of seven different committees, and we have had an accountability review board by a distinguished group of outsiders and house and senate committees pounced on this repeatedly, so it is hard
10:08 am
to imagine what further will come of yet another committee. >> the question chris was whether the select committee would reveal now evidence. i invited you and lipped say graham posted these questions. listen to this. >> who told susan rice about the level of security in the consulate in benghazi. there was nothing in the talking points about the level of security. we know that benghazi was a death trap. what information did she rely on and who briefed her and the information that they had available to make her believe that she could say this honestly. >> for susan rice and the administration, it seems to be two years ago, more than, and very or almost two years ago and it is old news to them.
10:09 am
>> i think the two points about susan rice's comments. to a certain degree she is a victim herself. i remember that weekend vividly. this is after the september 11th. >> she was on your show. >> yeah. we were trying to get hillary clinton on the program, remember there were attacks on two dozen u.s. diplomat enstal aegzs. the middle east and africa and a number of them had been shut down and we tried to get secretary of state hillary clinton to talk about this. they done put her out and instead put susan rice out and had little involvement. you realize how little. they were briefing her about what to say. she was a un ambassador. when she said dang if i know. she was the person to speak out instead of hillary clinton who

should have been out speaking this weekend. and when she asked what more can we provide. despite the 25,000 documents and we didn't find out about ben rh odes e-mail until after a court order in the judicial watch case. what more is there to know? if we found out, everything that is there that the administration hasn't given us. we'll know if there is more or not. and the administration is not providing it in their own good space. >> and thank you, chris wallace. chris has an exclusive interview with former vice-president dick cheney and lynn cheney. check your local listings on fox news sunday. >> and the national september 11th memorial museum
