young. meet ann turner cook. her identity was kept a secret until the '70s and her face still appears on the gerber products. i can see it. can't you? still. let me know what you think. megyn kelly on twitter. thanks for watching. welcome to "hannity" and tonight, we are broadcasting from new orleans, louisiana and this city is now hosting the 2014 republican leadership conference. hello, everybody. [ cheers ] >> jam packed show tonight including governor bobby jindal. the chairman and that's not all because phil robertson will join us for an exclusive interview. he addressed the conference, brought the house down, can't miss that. one on one just minutes away. we hope you'll stay with us. kicking off things for us tonight is our surprise guest speaker, the one and only former alaska governor sarah palin.
7:01 pm
governor, good to see you. how are you? [ cheers ] >> thank you. >> we got a lot going on right now. i know how much the issue of the veterans issues matter. president has given three speeches in three days on the military, and i don't get the sense of urgency, where is the 1800 number to say you're a vet and need help. do you feel a lack of urgency? >> i think there is a lack of understanding on our commander in chief part. what the mission of the military is and why it is that we owe gratitude that's manifested in benefits paid to those who already earned them when it comes to what our military is all about and you know, that was really evident in his speech the other day to the cadets at west point. tru truly, it was illustrated by his words that he just doesn't understand why our young troops especially are those who would volunteer to sacrifice all for the freedoms in this country.
7:02 pm
>> yeah, and then of course, the outing of a cia operative in afghanistan and then sort of the new obama doctrine emerges where we'll use force but we won't use force, nato, the u.n., and i'm thinking, what about -- but i do believe in american exceptionalism. i was thinking where is the regan doctrine? very different philosophy. >> what is the obama doctrine? >> weakness. >> and do you believe in that? remember that. mr. reporter from wherever. it's beyond isolation, again, he not being a believer in american exceptionalism in what it takes to remain a super power and not for any kind of arrogance in our country but to be that shining light, that beacon upon a hill that other country ks loies cant and count on and that was the regan doctrine. >> dick cheney last night said
7:03 pm
this president projects weakness again and again and that as he goes around the world, other leaders do not respect or believe they can count on the united states anymore. >> right, that was a great interview with the former vice president when he said this is a very, very weak president and it's not that we are weak as a country, but we are so unreliable now under obama. even more than the effect it has on other countries, my concern is the effect that his -- his doctrine, his policies have attitudes on those who are volunteering to serve this country to those whom we owe a debt of gratitude. >> by the way, what does it say if we let our veterans down, we can't get a website up and running in four years and now $700 million, what does that mean for everybody else's health care down the road? somebody i know mentioned death panels.
7:04 pm
is the va a death panel for many? >> that's a great point. >> remember when governor -- how many think it's a death panel for the va? right? >> that is what government-run health care will result in is inefficient, it takes away choices, and isn't it ironic that those who are willing to sacrifice all to put their life on the line to allow the freedom of choices in health care and economic everything else, soldiers, airmen, marines, they are getting screwed by the va and our commander in chief is in charge of this, ultimately. >> our prisoners at gitmo, this is one doctor for every 1.5 prisoners. >> better care. >> we have one doctor for every 35 vets. there is something wrong with that. >> in many respects, illegal aliens in our country today are receiving better health care, more benefits than some of our troops. >> it's really scary.
7:05 pm

7:06 pm
citizen is able to do that. they feel a bit above the rest of us and do become isolated from what the wisdom of the people is. >> you see, i think the republicans in washington think they will coast into reelection because obamacare is a disaster. we learned the first quarter growth is negative 1%. we might be back in a recession. and what i would prefer is a more inspiring vision. i have five things on my list. i want a penny plan to balance the budget. >> good. >> i want a consensus plan, health care savings accounts, i want what you want which is drill here now. >> same here. >> drill baby, drill. >> drill, baby drill. >> i want to secure the boarders and i want school choice. >> that is common sense, sean. that's your problem. you exercise common sense. >> that's a big problem i've had my whole life. >> is absent from those who are in this group making the decisions for us. how about something practical
7:07 pm
