well. we heard the news conference from the public neofficer. the gunman went in the high school and shot a student and was killed as well. we don't know if he shot himself. that is not clarified by the police. there is a report of a teacher may have been injured in this. normally there are 2800 kids in the troutdale high school. tomorrow was scheduled to be school and graduation the following day. not everybody was necessarily there. school resources officer was on duty at the time it all went down. sometimes they have two resource officers. and there is no check in or security policy at the school. and no metal detectors for

students to walk through in the high school. they had students coming out and we saw video, with students coming out. and they interviewed them. and they have since been moved down the street and those witnesses are interviewed and parents are reunited with their students there. a ti and officers responded. crime scene investigators are there. more than 100 responders are there as of right now. the sheriff's office has got ep information. and the gym is a crime scene. they are still going room to room. there are reports that students may be hunkered down with teachers. they do the drills and when it

become serious and they go in polices to it barricade themselves. there are reports of that happening and the officers will go through every nook and cranny of the high school to insure that everyone is securely removed and no other threats. we are told that the shooter is dead and one student, jenna. we have the press conference five minutes ago in fox and another one expected in two hours according to the spokesman there. jenna, two dead, tragic scene and very difficult for students and people to deal with outside of portland. >> you have great information for us and you were able to touch base with the local law enforcement. this is a local live scene. the aftermath and investigation. these law enforcement officers taking a look at this car. why are they looking at that.

that is a live picture we have right now. did anyone indicate a threat to the school or any concern or pre-meditation to this attack coming today? >> reporter: we asked the questions, jenna, law enforcement will err on the side of caution. that is all being looked at. they will go through the student's facebook or twitter and look at possible postings and chat rom ideas. they will talk to other students as the investigation goes forward. you can see the parents and the video waiting near by and seeing them go through cars. it is a treadious process at this point. they have secured the scone and go door to door and check in closests. and once that is done, the

investigation will go forward with how many shots were fired and was anybody hit and we heard a number of different reports that is normal. and it is a positive thing on this. it could have been a lot worse and i was told by law enforcement, they got there on the scene within a minute or two. and you had nearby gressham, oregon. and the mayor of troutdale believed 9 or 10 different agencies that responded to help them in the high school situation. >> it is an emotional especially when a child is injured or killed. oftentimes the information doesn't come as fast as we would like. adam will get us fresh information and we have retired new york city detective on the phone. pat is joining us.

according to a police source. this is a report from the ground from a local reporter, the shooter initial report and unconfirmed and according to a police source and local media on the ground. the shooter was dressed in all black and carrying an a r- 15 and had a desk and helmet. and time will only tell if that is confirmed, pat. where do you again in the investigation and figuring out where it starts? >> only because there are too many varables in this case and the shooting is so very fluid. it is uncorgreated reports and there are two other shooters. one at a church with a weapon. and it is determined. and the primary focus of the investigators is to identify a gunman who is deceased and see left and identify the ly to see

hundreds and hundreds of students funneling out of the school and make sure a bad guy doesn't slip through the cracks. identification is key. >> pat, why would someone do this? >> you know, i mean, i would imagine gradually the detectives will get the motivation on his part however twisted it may be. as you have seen in the past, oftentimes it generates from a perception of bullying or deslike of teacher or a slight or dislike of a fellow student. we don't have factual data to support. only facts we have is what you conveyed. >> here we are in the final days of school. people are taking the final

breaking news out of the oregon today, where there was a high school shooting unfortunately early this morning right after school started for the day. 8 o'clock a.m. on the west coast. we are learning more about what transpired in that building. one student is today and the shooter is also dead. we have two dead in the high school. we are learning more about potential injuries on the scene. adam housely joins from yous l.a. you have more for us now. >> reporter: yeah, it looks like the gym was the main crime scene. the building on campus is separate from where the class rooms are. and secondly, we are told from one law enforcement personnel they are looking at the gym teacher who was grazed in the

hip. as you know, they are wading through the scenes and get witnesses inside. a track coach may have been grazed. we don't know the details of how it happen. and he made it clear that we didn't go further with that. jenna, a tragic day in the high school. the shooter is dead and one student is dead and a lot of parents waiting for their students to be bussed over to a fred mier parking lot. those students who were not involved. >> we are getting more details about the associated press. and one freshman spoke to the associated press and telling them that they heard over the intercom announcement that the school was in lock down. they had a process for that. and they were told quietly to go into their classrooms and wait

for more information. a freshman daniel delong saw a physical education teacher with a bloodied shirt and why we are getting the reports of a pe teacher being injured. adam talked to us about that or worse. that was the initial reporting we received out of the school. daniel delong was shaken up and able to text his friends and find out they were okay. he said it happen very fast. that's what we are learning about this situation, it was not a prolonged incident. we heard the reports of shots fired and beyond that, we haven't heard much about the shooter moving room to room. and we are waiting for information and we don't know if the law enforcement confronted the shooter or the shooter took his own life. one student dead in reynolds high school in oregon.

ella, talk about what it is, immigration reform less likely because of a situation like that; is that what you are also hearing? >> i mean, basically the state of immigration reform on the hill is that president obama was expected to release a change in deportation policy and delayed it until the end of summer to give house republicans to give one more chance to pass immigration reform. i agree that jonna that the situation on the border for minors. comprehensive reform, it bolstered the argument that the current situation and way that the immigration is bad and not helping the situation. it further entrenches people on either side. and i am not seeing change on the hill in the equation as the future of immigration.

>> at the same time, the administration is turning to congress and asking for 1.4 billion to deal with the problem. the number could be 100,000 unaccompanied children corder b this year. does congress approve the money? in the end of the day, they are kids and have to be dealt with in some way, but is money the way to go? what do you do is the question? >> it is a great question, and i am not sure what will happen. i know it will create a lot of arguments and yelling. it is it a terrible position that the obama administration has gotten itself in to. the kids need to be dealt with. they could be sent to new york? and they are swamping a system that doesn't know how to deal with the refugees. it is not their fault they are in the terrible situation.

but the obama administration's response they will give everyone of them a lawyer. that is not the response that at least the opponents on the immigration side is looking for. that will encourage more illegal imaggression. i think at some point, obama will have to get the money to deal with this. >> it will be interesting to see what happens. we will have to leave it there because of breaking news. it is it a big topic and we'll look at it so much. and the police are identifying more details about the gunman that occurred in reynolds high school. he is a tone age male and told that the victim is also a teenage male and he went in the gym and shot the mael and the shooter's body was found and discovered by a police robot.

for parents and students to be reunited. we are told students were inside after 8 o'clock. and some thought firecrackers were going off and realized they were gun shot and everyone was scrambling and there was a tone age shotter who killed one student and found as we heard from colleague dan springer. he was found in the bathroom with a police robot they found the body of the shooter in the bath rom. normally there are 2800 students in the high school. but because graduation was thursday seniors were not there. troutdale tells us they normally have two police officers assigned to the high school. and one school resource officer was on doubt and no security

breaking news developing over the last couple of hours, the school shooting in a suburb of portland, oregon. the mayor of the town of the suburb is telling fox news that students at reynolds high school went through a training session earlier this year that involved an active shooter drill. from all accounts of the early report, the school handled it fairly efficiently. and the law enforcement response was shift and heavy.

the mayor tells us that he believes that's one of the reasons why there weren't more lives lost today. the headline, of course, is that the shooter is dead. a young man, we don't know if he was a student, and also a student in the school, a male student, was killed. the motive, we don't know. apparently this happened inside the gymnasium. we'll bring you the latest information as we get it. back to washington now where a top veterans affairs official is now admitting the agency which is entrusted with the care of our former american servicemen and women, that the v.a. has a, quote, integrity issue. that official apologizing. house lawmakers are blasting the agency and now some u.s. senators are calling on the justice department to launch a criminal investigation. this as more evidence mounts that the v.a. employees covered up data and that some vets never
