facebook.com/megyn kelly. watch us tomorrow night because we have charles crowd hammer, dennis michael lynch and the state department spokesperson who ripped on bowe bergdahl's platoon members is coming on the show. that will be interesting. tomorrow at 9:00. i'm megyn kelly. welcome to "hannity." tonight we have a jam packed edition of the show. glen beck is right there. america? are you ready? let's go. >> we can't just have a president, this guy or that guy or that guy that makes up the rules. >> a message for the republican party. >> the next 9/11 is in the making. >> al qaeda insurgent take over several cities in iraq and set their sights toward baghdad. >> what is the president doing?
7:01 pm
taking a nap. we have guests here with reaction. and president george h.w. bush celebrates his 90th birthday in style. "hannity" starts right here right now. welcome to "hannity." washington is reeling by eric cantor's defeat by dave brat. many are speculating that cantor lost because of his stance on immigration reform but my next guest says the lawlessness is the real reason taxpayers are voting for change but before we get to that, breaking tonight, bowe bergdahl is set to arrive back in the u.s. in just a few hours. we'll have details as they emerge. here in studio with reaction to this and much, much more, the founder of the blaze, do you recognize him? mr. glen beck, how are you? people can't believe we're friends. >> why is that? >> i don't know why. i keep asking. >> i'm friends with everybody. >> everybody?
7:02 pm
>> well, not everybody. >> there are a lot of people that don't like you. >> very much. >> you complained you didn't have a rug when you were here. >> they didn't make me a rug. i didn't get a coffee cup or football, either. >> i'll give you mine. i'll crosse it out and put -- >> thanks. >> we have breaking news we'll get to in the next segment. takrit, mosul. >> i'm having a hard time not quoting the presidential speeches during the election that al qaeda is done and we don't have to worry about them anymore and, you know, this is just people hyping this all up when, you know, i can't imagine how i would feel if i lost a son or i lost a limb and it spirals into this. this is the beginning, i fear,
7:03 pm
of what will spiral around the world. we are -- nature is a vacuum and we left a vacuum around the world. >> you heard of this group isis, the this is the next phase we'll have to deal with? >> we don't have the resources to deal with it anymore. we should have gone in after september 11th, taken care of the bad guys, killed them, not rebuilt them. i think it's real huberous to bring are democracy and peace to a region that doesn't want it. >> you saw what happened on 9/11. they were with us. we weren't at war with them. to me, this was a question of if
7:04 pm
we decide to send brave men and women to finish the job and win the war. >> you do finish the job. we didn't finish under george w. bush and not now. we're opening up the door and saying you bad guys, you are probably good, go ahead. would any of us in 2001, if i would have said, hey, we're still going to be fighting this and we're going to be fighting this in 2010, 2014, would any of us have said that's a good idea? >> this is the politically correct world we live in. if you fight, you fight with overwhelming force. that would have meant carpet bombing places. >> look, war, people don't understand, war is the art of killing somebody faster than they can kill you. you have to scare the living daylights out of people so they

say how many lives did we save? i'm not suggesting nukes. how many lives did we save in japan? we saved lives there and lives on our side. it was horrifying but got everybody to drop guns ask say enough, i don't want anything to do with that. that's the idea of having the biggest gun on the block and being the one that we love you, we love everybody. we're not going to mess with you. we're not going to get involved in your country. if you screw with us, we'll pound glass and then go home. don't screw with us. >> you and i had private discussions and i think we're on the same page. we think america is in decline. we think america needs to be saved. we're both angry, i'm angry at republicans especially in washington. i like conservative governors. i'm inpressed with many but not the republicans in washington. we have a big political

earthquake because 50 million americans are not working, no poverty, maybe the va, maybe october. >> i think it's all of that. >> all of it. >> what happened with dave brat, we have to change the language on this. nancy pelosi came out and said the extreme right, you know, there is extreme right and you know what the extreme right is? the extreme right are those racist white power people. >> in vegas. >> that want, they claim they are on, you know, our side, small government. no, no, no, they are not sis. you're a socialist, a national socialist and on the other side is communist. everybody else is in the middle and even wants to get along. >> don't you get called ed

extremist all the time? >> all the time. >> you have to elect me and we'll have wigger government. a rational person says leave then alone. >> glen, you know this, you talk about it every day. i want the government to stop stealing from our kids and be energy independent. you live in texas now. >> yeah. >> i want to secure the boarders. i want choice and education, which you believe in and i want a consensus plan to replace obamacare, which is a disaster. >> those would be great. >> five things, does anything i say sound poll lit ta li politi? >> no.
7:08 pm
>> why? >> because we're dealing with people that want power and they diluted themselves that they believe that their party and their position is going to fix america, that ronald reagan knew, abraham lincoln knew, trust the people, the people will fix these problems. what we're doing is watching two groups of people fight for power and using us and pitting us against each other when the average person just leave me alone, let me go to church or not go to church. >> in -- >> let me lead my life. >> i keep, for example, rick perry, your governor in texas. >> yeah. >> he's creating jobs and moving toward energy independence. look at tort reform in texas, what it's done for so many people in the state. i just want people that are going to articulate a vision that will headache people's lives better by getting out of the way. but i think a lot of americans

the ship bad mouthing people because they wouldn't listen and didn't come up and say i told you so. when the hurricane comes, we need to look people in the eye and say have joy, it's going to be okay but there are a few things we have to do. >> empires fail. you know what? america can fail. america -- >> america is truly an empire, then she probably should fail. >> it's a democratic republic but it is not what it was when weapon were growing up because we have done one thing. people were created to be loved, things were designed to be used. in our america today, people are being used and things are loved. until we can flip that around, we'll be arrogant and out of control. >> you're coming back later in the show. >> more glen beck, he'll be back and explain how you are exposing

common core. very important but first, tonight on "hannity". >> what is the president doing? taking a nap. speaker boehner weighs in on the white house after two iraqi cities and the prime minister is pleading for help. when we come back, jennifer griffin is standing by at the pentagon tonight. we'll check in with our panel as this breaking news edition of "hannity" continues.

7:14 pm
this is a fox news alert. chaos is on alert where militants are threatening to march in baghdad. the iraqi government asked the u.s. to carry out air strikes to stop the extremists but it's unclear what action, if any, the obama administration will take. jennifer is standing by with the latest. >> sean s the u.s. military is expediting requests for aid and equipment as more cities fail to isis. >> i know the president of the

united states is prepared to make key decisions in short order, and as he made clear earlier, options are on the table right now. >> u.s. military sources confirm the prime minister requested pannpa manned and unmanned air support and they are furiously mapping out military options for the president. >> this is -- but ultimately, this is for the iraqi security forces and government to deal with. >> the pentagon points to the military assistance the u.s. has given to the iraqi government, $15 million of military hardware since 2005. >> to include fire missiles, apache helicopter sales moving forward and later this fall, the delivery of two f-16s. we're in touch with iraqi

leadership as much as possible. >> we have learned the u.s. military trainers who were teaching the iraqi air force how to fly those f-16s were evacuated today from their base north of baghdad. the state department would not confirm reports that iranian fighters were fighting alongside the forces. >> we don't have any confirmation of their present on the ground, which is some of the reports. clearly, we have encouraged them in many cases to play a constructive role but i don't have any other views from our end to portray here today. >> and on monday, u.s. special operators began a month of training for iraqi special forces in neighboring jordan, sean? >> jennifer, thank you. earlier today john boehner slammed president obama's failed response for the growing crisis. take a look. >> it's not like we haven't seen this problem over a year. and it hasn't -- it's not like we haven't seen over the last

five or six months these terrorists moving in, taking control of western iraq. now they have taken control of mosul, what is the president doing? taking a nap. >> we have to ask was boehner referring to this comment made by our out of touch correspondent, take a look. >> all the problems that we have, if you had to be -- if you had to choose any moment to be born in human history not knowing what your position was going to be, who you were going to be, you would choose this time. the world is less violent than it's ever been, healthiera3;
7:18 pm
brought up are confirmed there. why did we lose iraq when we literally brought it to the verge of victory i kirsten? >> i don't believe it was ever a victory. this is what was always going to happen with iraq. we can stay there forever and police iraq and continue to lose our men and women dying for iraq or we could leave and it was going to turn into chaos. i think and i personally think we should have left much sooner. i don't think we should have ever gone in. once we went in, we did the best we could. this was not a country that ever was stabilized.
7:19 pm
this is the evidence of it. it's not a stable country. >> the problem is we didn't do the best we could. the problem is we left prematurely. when president obama came into office he gave his first interview and mentioned iraq once in passing. the entire discussion about the region, president obama doesn't mention iraq. it was a signal of what was to come. he passed off the iraq portfolio to joe biden who didn't do anything and had been wrong about iraq every step along the way. >> but george bush was going to leave iraq. this wasn't something -- >> well, yeah. >> there is a bunch of things happening. you have a military aspect. we had a situation where most people thought the surge would not work, one of the most courageous decisions ever. most people including hillary clinton say it will never work and barack obama said it absolutely won't work. it worked.
7:20 pm
a relative lly quiet place when they left. the one thing dismissed is crocker's role and president bush's constant pressure and conference, this is what you're doing. stay on top of this. this is how you lead and administrate. when president obama took his hands off the wheel and didn't want anything to do with the war, they put a guy that didn't know anything about the region and it fell apart. he pushed the sounnis out and took people not responsible there and had no interest for some odd reason, maybe to loyalty with iran because we had left. now all of a sudden, the sunni say we have an ax to grind. >> let me ask this question about this group that calls themselves the islamic state of iraq and syria isis, taken one city after another, reading reports in the new york times and elsewhere today, they are clear in suggesting that even
7:21 pm
radical islamist and jihads fear them because of their brutal tactics including beheadings and mass murder. is this the next phase and what is the real war on terror they want to attack america and other states? >> if they want to attack america, yes. >> why would they not want to considering that's been the goal of those that want to advance. >> they actually had a goal of doing a lot in the middle east. they are not focused on us. they are clearly focused on syria. >> israel, jordan, turkey, where do they go next? >> i want to get back to the point, you're making the point i was trying to make. in order to keep iraq stable, we would have to stay there. it's not -- >> stay there. >> the point is that we don't, americans don't want to be there. >> we agree this. i agree you have to stay there, now with 100,000 troops and this huge embassy. we have to have a pres sense.
7:22 pm
there is nothing wrong with having a presence in a place we invested nine years of war and countless lives and 132,000 wounded. there is nothing wrong with moving out and allowing this place to standup. >> steve? >> not only to keep stabilitity. it was in part ryan crocker but having the military presence to say look, you can't purge your troops of sunni leadership. you have to include everybody. >> let me play joe biden from 2012. joe biden wanted to break iraq into three at one point, been wrong on every national security issue in history. this is when he said back in 2010. >> i'm very optimistic about iraq. i think it will be one of the great achiefments of this administration. you'll see 90,000 american troops come marching home by the
7:23 pm
end of the summer. you're going to see a stable government in iraq that is actually moving toward a representative government. >> if you're a mother or father that lost a child in iraq and now you're watching the decision grags of this country and gave up an arm and leg of this battle, tifight, what are you thinking? >> i don't think we should have ever been there. let's make a really bad decision, one of the worst decisions in the country. people go there -- >> the same thing in afghanistan. >> they lose limbs. afghanistan was not as stupzó0 f a war as iraq. >> what is obama doing? the same thing, pulling out of afghanistan. >> i have a lot of promise -- >> you said the same -- >> if you want to criticize obama's foreign policy, i'm on board for a lot of reasons.
7:24 pm
>> if you start a war, you finish it and win it. >> we were there for a long time. how long do you want to stay there. >> you have to win the war. >> you guys are in the minority. >> if you lock at the way that newspapers including "the new york times" describe the state of iraq in february of 2009 after president obama came in and after the successful elections there, it wasn't going to be easy and a glide path to certain success. security was better sbl a. >> and we pulled out too early. >> it might be leaving. that's how close they are getting to taking baghdad. that could be the trend if this trend continues. number two, we might find ourselves fighting on the same side as iran because they are as concerned about this terror strike as we are. >> the iranian revolutionary guard. >> there goes lebanon after. >> we'll pay a price because strategically, it's in our long-term interest to not have this happen but we'll see.
7:25 pm
coming up, the obama white house discredits members of the platoon after details of the capture. remember the founder, john o'neil? he'll talk about that. glen beck returns to the show how he's starting a movement to how he's starting a movement to take down common core education. that and more as "hannity" continues. try alka seltzer reliefchews. they work just as fast and are proven to taste better than tums smoothies assorted fruit. mmm. amazing. yeah, i get that a lot. alka seltzer heartburn reliefchews. enjoy the relief. are the largest targets in the world, for every hacker, crook and nuisance in the world. but systems policed by hp's cyber security team are constantly monitored for threats. outside and in. that's why hp reports and helps neutralize more intrusions than anyone... in the world. if hp security solutions can help keep the world's largest organizations safe, they can keep yours safe, too.

in the wake of the prisoner swap, members of the platoon had details surrounding his desertion in 2009, as they say it and the obama white house has done everything they can do to discredit these brave men. take a look. >> they did not expect this backlash on bergdahl himself. aids said he didn't know they would swift boat bergdahl. >> swift boat bergdahl. here to react on that, remember when john kerry was running for president, unfit for command? anyway, john o'neil is back. welcome back. good to see you. >> thank you, sean. it's deja vu all over again as yogi bear said. i remember watching and thinking not only theeople that died to free the country but watching the people that helped us get executed by the communist and we sit in mosul and i'm sure the

washington is failing dramatically. they are not helping the american people. >> there is no question that was part of it. people who are focussing on just one explanation for eric cantor's defeat are missing the big picture. there were lots of important factors, several really important factors, yes, immigration was one. so was a feeling that washington isn't listening and in particular, in that sour distrit isn't listening and i also have to say because i have evidence of it, some democrats, i can't put a number on it, some democrats did go into the primary and vote which in virginia is legal because we're classified as independents. we had no party registration. >> did you think this was a democrat dirty trick? >> i wouldn't call it a dirty
7:40 pm
trick. everything i mentioned was part of this. an 11-point defeat for a house majority leader when no house majority leader has been defeated before obviously it has to be bigger than one particular factor. naturally, everyone will focus in on the piece of this that helps them. hillary clinton said what she said. president obama said what he said about immigration because democrats are getting more than seven in ten hispanic votes. they are getting more than seven in ten asianen american votes and the immigration issue is being used to help them do that. republicans are going to focus on other pieces of the puzzle. the anti washington point of view that reinforcing the support they have among many of their constituents. >> is this a possible indicator of things to happen in november? >> you know, it's a party primary. >> is this a canary in a coal

7:42 pm
contested in a 435 seat house. that's true. look, look at what happened with eric cantor. that's one person. look at the earthquake that came about on a candidate. the same could happen if a senior member of congress even just one goes down in november. >> listen, i'm angry at republicans. they are supposed to be the party of balanced budgets. if i went with a microphone on any city street in this country and ask what the republicans stand for, what will they do if they get elected, i doubt many people could than question with any specificity because there is not. four years into obamacare there is not a consensus plan. you know, they wouldn't get behind the penny plan, which would be right in their wheelhouse to balance the budget and live within their means or nobody is advancing the concept of small government in the alternative party. i'm frus rated with them.
7:43 pm
>> sean, i can give you a direct answer on that because i had the opportunity to talk to some of the senior leadership in both parties. the republicans say very bluntly we are going to take as few controversial positions as possible prior to november. we want to win the midterm election and then we'll let a presidential nominee define the party. they are kicking the can down the road to their presidential nominee. >> that's -- look, the reason -- [ overlapping speakers ] >> i like conservative governors. they are getting the job done and helping the people in their states. the republicans in washington are timid. they care more about their power than the bepeople. >> about getting reelected. >> it's sad. >> sean, the difference i've always found between governors and members of congress is that governors have guts and are willing to act whereas congressmen really do specialize in talking.
