it devoting 112 minutes in the situation the first week, 112 minutes. when the v.a. scandal story broke, there was no coverage on the nightly network news broadcast for almost two weeks. no coverage. when the lost email story broke three and a half minutes. combined on all the network newscasts. unbelievable. that is a news blackout. issue "new york times," l.a. times, "the washington post" printed 56 stories and commentaries about governor christie in the first week. 56. first week in the v.a. scandal, two stories. first week of the irs scandal, three stories. you want media bias, there it is beyond a reasonable doubt. so it thomas madison, ben frankly with us today they would be the lead guest on this factor this evening.

they envisioned a free press a media that would inform the people. giving them honest information. so they could make educated votes. but that's not what we have today. and that corruption in the media is greatly harming this nation. again, there is no question about it. there is no question the major national are media in america is trying to protect president obama. and will promote the candidacy of hillary clinton. for informed americans, the blatant partisanship doesn't have much of effect. media bias is devastating. because once people think that a person is bad or good, that impression usually remains. for example, there are a whole lot of americans who don't like me. i know it's unbelievable. they don't like me. but when we asked them why, they don't really know.

they have heard things. maybe whoopi goldberg said something negative. it's the same thing with politicians. if a person doesn't pay attention he or she often bases their opinions on rumors, innuendo, eye del they know if they bury scandals then a negative perception about the obama administration might not be formed. one caveat. right now the president is being overwhelmed by bad news. the media cannot suppress it. it's all over the place. just today the gross domestic product fell to its lowest level since the recession ended five years ago. and take home pay american workers continues to stagnate. the partisan media can't influence that. but it is a shame that in a proud republic in a vibrant

democracy, the american press is so corrupt. it is is a shame. and that's the memo. now, for the top story tonight. reaction, joining us from north carolina, purveyor of berne in order goldberg.com. mr. goldberg. since you were one of the first national press guys to expose the media bias on the national level, this can't be a surprise to you. what is shocking though is how blatant it has become. they don't even try to hide it anymore. >> exactly; lil'. it moved from old fashioned media bias when i first wrote about it to media activism. i mean, they are full participants in, you know, team obama. let me make three points. there is something i have done on this program in the past and it's a simple strategy of simply turning the tables. imagine if george bush were

president and his irrelevancy went after his political enemies or opponents. imagining if the central character at the irs took the fifth. imagine beyond that that we learned they lost several years of emails. that story would lead the evening news and be on page one for every evening newspaper for a year straight and the headlines would be in type as big as the empire state building. point number two, it's a question. where are the woodwards and bernsteins? in fact, where is woodward? and where is bernstein? >> wooted ward, i have got to stick up for him. he has been very critical of the he obama administration. bernstein teaches college out on long island now but we haven't heard much from him. >> sure we have heard from woodward. if this were republican president, his newspaper would be running this on page 1. >> absolutely. every day. >> no doubt about it? >> and the last point. you remember the great sports writer, bill, red --

impact segment tonight. there is new no question that the irs under president obama was used for plel reasons. the agency has agreed to pay the national organization for marriage, a group that opposes same sex marriage, $50,000 to settle a lawsuit. the traditional marriage group sued after finding out that an irs employee provided confidential documents to people who oppose it. joining us now from georgia to explain what what happened. eric editor of red state.com. start from the beginning. what did the irs do here. >> back in 2012 the national organization of marriage they woke up one morning and found that their donors were displayed on the web site of the human rights campaign, a group that lobbies for gay rights and gay rights, national organization of marriage was opposed to it, saw its donors being harassed and targeted

through left-wing media sites. after that disclosure now the information that the human rights campaign got was there from their confidential tax records. someone from the irs leaked them. it turns out after suing that a gay rights activist named matthew reached out to the human rights campaign said he had a conduit to get the information that was then passed to him and then passed out to this third party group. >> that's really unbelievable, so, i mean incapsulate it the irs keeps a list of all the nonprofit organization donors. you have to file every year and say this person gave me this amount of money. that's what you have to do the list is supposed to be secret not nefarious way but private. you have privacy here. weasel and irs. whoever it may be gets the private stuff. leaks it out to a gay activist who puts it out to a group they put on all the

donors and they get attacked by all the people who support gay marriage, not all of them but some of them. this is vicious. however, is it the irs's fault from top to bottom or just one corrupt official which the judge said it was a single emilyee's mistake. >> yeah. the judge ruled back in the beginning of june that this was an employee's mistake. the problem with this though, much like the hard drive crashing is that the same thing has happened to the texas public policy foundation a conservative group in texas and karl rove's crossroads g.p.s. before it even had the a 01 c 4 status. confidential documents leaked by someone at the irs. so it may be not senior people at the irs but certainly a pattern of the irs. >> definitely a pattern of behavior there. now, is anyone investigating this man who that's the problem bill. >> attorney general holder going in and trying to find out who leaked this stuff? >> you would like to think so the national organization of marriage requested it given that the individual

ultimately lancaster ford the guy number 5 in the republican leadership won. up in new york on the democratic side entrenched incumbent charlie rangel hanging on. seemed to have won it race 47,0. his democratic challenger is still hanging in there back then he complained that there had been a lost the latino votes and ballot tampering. >> most people don't care about these three races. there is a bigger picture. the republican establishment believes that senator cochran will now easily defeat a democratic challenger. so that seat stays republican whereby if there was a new guy the race would have been tighter there over in colorado tom tancredo anti-immigration guy he loses, right? >> he lost to a former congressman bob popray

what's the most important foreign policy problem for the obama administration? >> well, bill, let's not forget that john kerry was for many years a politician and like most politicians i would say his mind at least to the mind of a reporter is somewhat opaque. if i had to surmise i would say that john kerry like barack obama is motivated by some, perhaps vaguely defined notion of social justice. and in the foreign policy realm, this is to be extended to other countries and other players on the world stage and so i think that john kerry probably thinks this is me surmising again that america shouldn't throw its weight around so much, that we could probably benefit more from conciliatory approach rather than militaristic one. >> that's not working out and everybody knows it and kerry is a smart man. he has been around. do you think kerry knows that philosophy is not working out?
