johnathon turley is here. lots of comments about my bid on hobby lobby tonight. if you missed it go to facebook.com/megynkelly. welcome to hannity, this is a fox news alert. the influx of illegals crossing our southern border is now reaching a tipping point. former new york city mayor rudy julian any will be here to explain what president obama should be doing to secure the border. we turn to john roberts who got an exclusive ride along with the border patrol sector. john? >> good evening to you, there's all this talk in washington about secure the borders, secure the borders. we got a firsthand look at what a challenge that really is, we rode along with a chief of the rio grande valley sector. he has 300 miles of weaving, winding river that he has to

protect. hundreds of places on the mexican side for illegal migrants to cross into the river. many places on the american side for them to hide out until they get caught by the border patrol or move further inland. there are some places in the river where it only takes a rubber raft eight seconds to get across. there's a problem with stopping people as well. the boats running up the river, a deterrent for people who don't want to get caught, for the thousands of central american migrants whose goal is to get caught, it's likely they'll get to the american side. >> trying to interdikt on the waters. it's not something we typically do, you wouldn't want to see somebody sink and drown. this river is dangerous. unless, you know, mexico and honduras and guatemala are our partners in controlling their borders and checking people leaving their country. >> chief oakes told me the border patrol cannot do this

through law enforcement alone, it's got to be a combination of things. removing these illegal aliens in diplomacy to try to keep people from leaving in the first place. there was a growing course of voices on capitol hill, though, including that of texas republican congressman steve stockman who believes the strongest signal that the president could make is to stand up and say the border is closed to illegal immigration, those who come here illegally won't stay, and will quickly be sent back to their home countries. >> they take their life savings, five to seven thousand. would you want to risk your life savings going over treacherous terrain knowing you will come right back here? no, you won't. that's the message we want to send. >> there's a lot of criticism for that position. they have claim to their lives being in danger in their home countries. this is almost an intractable

problem and there's no easy solution. >> john, and by the way, i was down there last week, you know that the miles of border here, where that crossing level is so short is pretty massive, a lot of ground to cover. >> oh, yeah. it's huge. and you don't fully understand it, sean until you come down here. i came down here a month ago for my first visit. my producer came down here and said, wow! i have a completely different perspective on the story now after being on the ground, it's so tough. >> it's true. they're doing a great job. they need more boots on the ground, so to speak. unfortunately, the chaos on the border is not confined to texas, as we saw last week in california, protesters are lining the streets of their respective towns to block illegals from entering. the latest protest is taking place in oracle, arizona where federal officials were expected to dump dozens of unaccompanied immigrant children. no buses with illegals actually arrived in oracle today so were

unaccompanied juveniles, being flown from texas to arizona, and they're coming to your county. and so i called the group home, it's a facility of boy's ranch in oracle, and they did confirm that these kids were enroute this week. my problem is, we don't know who they are. we do know for a fact that there's been a number identified in texas through the screening that have gang affiliations with ms 13, i'm saying as the local sheriff, i have enough problems fighting the drug cartels with my deputies and immigration here, we do not need unaccompanied juveniles flown into our state compliments of president obama. >> i've known you for a number of years now, and i know how hard the job is that you have, and i know year outnumbered and many of the agents are underpaid, i would argue. now you also have the threat of your agents scabies and lice and tb and pneumonia. even one report now of swine flu. so there are health issues.
10:06 pm
i talked to the border patrol union, they're saying a lot of these agents won't even go home after a day's work, they go to a hotel for fear they might be bringing these things home to their families. >> exactly. and the 60,000 today, what's predicted to be 90,000 on october 1st, the very hope was realized when they made it to the border, president obama welcomed them with open arms, and this is a signal to the millions and millions yet to come that if you make it to the border, literally you're home free. the law applies to me and you and every other american citizen, when it comes to people from foreign countries who disrespect our laws and process to come here, there are no consequences. there's no immigration law any longer. and we're shouted down to made to feel like somehow we're unamerican, and we're betraying the proud history of a nation of immigrants. we want this done legally, we want the rule of law to be

enforced, and what i've called for with christine jones is to have 1200 armed soldiers in arizona deployed to the border in january to secure the border, because a federal government has not shown any willingness to do it themselves. and that's their job. >> all right, sheriff, good to see you again, thank you so much for being with us. >> good to see you, sean. here to discuss how he thinks we should secure this country's borders, rudy giuliani. good to see you. i was down and i got a briefing the day after rick perry, the governor of texas met with the president. the briefi ining i think the president should have had. you have people from pakistan, afghanistan and yemen they're catching, and they're convicted of murder, robbery, kidnapping and rape.

>> the focus has always been on the immigrants who come in and they work and work on farms. that isn't really the focus, the people can walk over the border and we don't know who they are, anybody can walk over the border. >> that's a good point. >> we've always kept the focus on the wrong thing. an insecure border, a border that children can walk across or people who just want to work, well, terrorists can walk across. drug dealers can walk across it, and murderers, people who want to commit crimes. and, of course, when they hear things like this, the border is so insecure, they're invited to do, and they are doing it. >> i looked at the 9/11 commission report and said, this is where we need to start homeland secure security is right there at the border. >> the only way you're going to stop it, you need a physical presence on the border that stops people from coming in. it can be the border patrol, by increasing it by thousands or the national guard or whatever, but they have to be -- there has to be a physical presence at the border that stops people from
