malaysian airlines flight blown out of the sky, 298 people killed. the international community, in shock. here is jennifer griffin with the latest. >> senior western officials tell me they believe this video shows the actually missile launcher used to bring down the malaysian plane. it shows the launcher heading towards the russian border at dawn yesterday. u.s. officials believe they've pinpointed the launch site for the missle inside ukraine. they say they believe the missle was brought across the border

from russia in recent weeks and since it went down, russian backed separatists have been trying to hide it u.s. officials believe it's likely back across the border in russia. u.s. intelligence analysts believe they have evidence this former intelligence colonel, leading the separatist movement oversaw the strike. 20 minutes after the plane went down, one of his lieutenants is heard talking to another officer in phone intercepts. u.s. officials are conducting voice recognition and believe the audio to be authentic.

jeanine. janine. >> the israeli troops uncovered dozen cross-border tunnels used by hamas. fox news reporter john huddy is live in gas a. what is the latest? >> reporter: judge, the ground offensive continues here in the morning past 4:30. and we are going in day three of the ground offensive and day three of operation protective edge. we heard and seen action to the north and explosions in the distance and artillery fire that indicates that forces are pushing in over the israeli/gaza border and also to the east.

overnight there was a lot of action as we saw here and to the north. yesterday afternoon, and we are hearing, we are hearing explosions in the distance and we are seeing a flare coming down and indicates that possibly something is about to happen over there. in terms of what is going on in the border there, the idea of of underground tunnels that hamas is using for the transport and storage of rockets and they are going into israel. two militants were killed on the israeli side when they got into a fire fight and they were dressed up as israeli soldiers and a third killed after getting in a fire fight and they found on him hand cuffs and tranquilizers and indicating he would try to abduct israelis. that is a huge concern. the tunnels come out to the ka
