media buzz. send me an e-mail. we respond to your questions. we're back here next sunday morning, 11:00 to 5:00 eastern with the latest buzz. a fox news alert, there are major new developments out of the middle east, the israeli military saying 13 soldiers have been killed in the fighting on the ground in gaza. hello everyone, welcome to america's news headquarters. >> hello, everyone, i'm eric shaun. >> many thousands are trying to flee the fighting as those hamas rockets continue to target israel. let's go straight to john huti who now has the latest in gaza city. >> reporter: eric, today was the
9:01 am
bloodest since operation protective edge started. 84 palestinians were killed, 60 in one east gaza neighborhood alone, women, children, whole families, we visited that neighborhood, this is what we saw. >> this is all just gut wrenching to say, i mean utter just destruction, everything's been destroyed, what used to be homes, people's bed sheets are there, i'm seeing clothing, shoes, this is probably the living room or kitchen. we saw the shelling, we heard the air strikes, we watched it from this area, now to actually be here, to smell the smoke, to see this, and also the children, the dead bodies being put in the ambulance. there's still clothing hanging on the clotheslines, it's gut wrenching. i'm just overwhelmed with emotion at this point. it's just utter destruction. everything you see here is
9:02 am
damages, it's been hit with either artillery fire or air strikes. rescue crews are running out of time. there was a two-hour window cease fire for humanitarian reasons, now they have less than an hour. >> also killed during the fighting, 13 israeli soldiers, as mentioned, diplomatic efforts are under way to come to some kind of cease fire, there was a cease fire briefly agreed upon for humanitarian reasons, but as soon as that ended, the fight is likely to resume and it will intensify as the sun is now setting here the gaza. >> john, those ida soldiers trying to clean out those tunnels. >> and there is breaking news in
9:03 am
eastern ukraine, pro russian separatist say they've recovered the black boxes of the downed malaysian airlines plane, at the same time, any audios are being released by ukraine security forces, giving us a glimpse into the rebels few conversations about those black boxes. >> who has the black boxes? >> we don't have it. >> who has it. >> now let me deal i will try to find. >> they need to know. >> not only as the crashing site -- finding recovering, and identifying the bodies is still far from over. these men are local miners, they're trying to help find pieces of the plane, as well as body parts.
9:04 am
>> we're going to have to be careful here with the images we show you. you're going to have do really take my word for it. three days in, there's a terrible field. bodies and body parts still have yet to be picked up. we're not going to show you the image, but off hire to my right, there is a piece of what looks to be bone and intestine, and a leg bone. here comes another body, we have been watching over the past few minutes, body after body come out of this wreckage. slow, by hand, those body parts simply being bagged in plastic, dropped by the side of the road. some were being taken to morgues on the ukrainian side, some on the rebel side. most unidentified. a real source of pain for the

families. >> reporter: we saw investigators walking afternoon the crash site. they say it is clear there is evidence missing from the crash site. >> eric? >> an angry dutch prime minister. telling vladimir putin, he has one last chance to help. he had a phone conversation. the netherlands as you may know suffering the largest loss in this shootdown of nearly 200 people. will putin continue to deny, delay and it seems deceive. ambassador john bolton, united nations, fox's contributor, and senior fellow at the american interprice institute. secretary of state john kerry says it -- >> pughen the clearly has a long

range strategy to increase his increase in the krukraine, i thk putin ought to go out of his way now to show a little bit of concern for the victims and the families just from a pr point of view, i wouldn't be surprised at that. but make no mistake, whoever public course he adopts, it's not going to change his fundmental determination to increase moscow's control over ukraine. >> indeed maybe even perhaps some subject order from moscow. >> he's trying to congress fuse the situation, blame it in effect on the conflict itself. ultimately there's no doubt. i think there's little doubt where it came from. but i think putin is now benefiting from the misguided approach from president obama as he announced on his press conference on friday, acting like we have days and weeks to do a criminal type investigation.
9:07 am
we know who's responsible, it's putin and the russian policy that creates the kind of environment in which this could take place. >> we're looking at a pretty blunt editorial in the putin's business daily. putin says he grew up a thug. those words come into hard relief with the depraved cruelty of the airline shootdown. maybe it's no surprise he'd treat 295 dead bodies from an airline as significant as t the --. is that too tough? >> i think he's a kgb alumnist, he was trained to be tough. i think he's a hard man, one of the real hard men of international politics now, that's why when you see president obama, secretary of state clinton, secretary kerry trying to deal with this. they just don't understand what they see on the other side of the table. they are engaged in what's often
9:08 am
known as mirror images. they think vladimir putin is reasonable. until we understand that and understand the nature of the strategy he's pursuing, we will never deal with him effectively. >> so what should we do to zeal with him effectively. >> putin has moved russia into an adversarial relationship with the west, with the united states, not the cold war, but adversarial, and to respond, to tell him we do not accept what you're doing in the ukraine, you have to take extreme measures, far beyond the economic sanctions we have to -- we have policies to make sense. come back to a strong missile defense program. ramping up military capabilities. i think they have got a history
9:09 am
they've got to overcome. but i don't think we know europe's real answer yet. because in the last five years, we have been trying to leave the history of the nato alliance. it's a business mick taste to say, well, the europeans don't want to do it, therefore we should. try a self fulfilling prophecy at this point. >> you can crane, he's not former or retired. >> the russian military intelligence, does that track right back to moscow? >> i think if you look at the lines of authority in the eastern ukraine, that command and control ises about exercised by russia, whether these are ukrainian citizens, whether they're russians who have come across the border. this is all being directed from the russian side of the border. and that's why.

it may not be a direct order to put -- >> the situation on gaza, 13 israeli soldiers now killed. how do you see this playing out and ending. >> i it's -- destroying this extraordinary network of tunnels and long range missiles. >> a new mode of transportation. >> traffickers coming up next. this moment, 45 years later.
