tv Hannity FOX News July 30, 2014 7:00pm-8:01pm PDT
7:00 pm
what? anyway, thanks for watching everybody. i'm megyn kelly. coming up, sean hannity. in the meantime, thanks for watching. this has been "the kelly file." see you tomorrow night at 9:00. welcome to "hannity." this is a fox news alert. disgraced irs official lois lerner has a lot of explaining to do after newly released e-mails reveal that she called conservative republicans "crazies and worse." joining us now from washington with more on this developing story is fox's own shannon breen. she also attacked talk radio. >> well, not surprising, sean. the gop's now ramping up it's call for special council to look into irs following newly discovered e-mails written by former irs official lois lerner. house ways and means committee chairman says her e-mails show her referring to, and i'll clean
7:01 pm
it up, a holes and crazies. camp says the new evidence proves lerner's "hostility towards conservatives." we reached out to lerner's attorney for comments but told he's away from his office. those who represent groups targeted by the irs told house members had gone rogue and refusing to abide by federal law. during that same hearing a number of democrat lawmakers said the house was just wasting time and money by repeatedly investigating the claims. well, here's mitchell's reaction. >> she'd been determined and dogged and relentless in trying to get to the truth. and from those of us and particularly my clients who were on the receiving end of the irs targeting, i can tell you that the irs was determined and dogged and relentless in the denial of the first amendment rights of hundreds of citizens groups and thousands of law-abiding patriotic americans. >> we have also been
7:02 pm
investigating a secret deal made between the irs and an atheist group which sued the agency because it said the irs wasn't being tough enough on churches with respect to their tax exempt stat status. we are digging for details on that not public yet. we'll keep you updated. thank you. as unaccompanied children continue to pour into the u.s. illeg illegally, we're learning more and more details about where those children are sent and how much it's costing you, the american taxpayer. fox & friends first cohost here tonight with the details. >> you'll be shocked when you hear these details, sean. we have new information tonight about what exactly happens to the unaccompanied illegal children once they are apprehended by immigration authorities here in the united states. first, they are turned over to the office of refugee resettlement where they are then sent to sponsors or relatives while individual cases are being processed. as of this month the majority have already been placed throughout the 50 states. and out of those 30,000
7:03 pm
unaccompanied children that crossed over the border between january and july, the most were released in texas, new york, florida, california, virginia, maryland and new jersey. while some state leaders such as massachusetts governor duyvil patrick are welcoming those immigrants, the unaccompanied children have not been met with open arms everywhere else. remember a few weeks ago protesters took to the streets in california to stop the buses from dumping illegal children and adults into their towns. similar protests also took place in arizona. and, sean, since the federal government is still in dire need of volunteers to house these illegal immigrants, according to brightbart.com, it is willing to pay foster families up to $7,000 a month to not only house illegal children, which you reported on earlier this month, but to also house illegal adults in their houses as well. >> $7,000 a month? >> i know. maybe we should take some.
7:04 pm
that would may my rent. >> such a big number. the other amazing thing, they're not telling the governors, they're not telling the mayors or city councils that the children are coming? >> no, they're finding out online, they're finding out from news reports. >> wow. >> president obama and his administration not even calling those governors to tell them the children and those adults are coming to their states. >> so the government is paying for people that are here illegally, they're paying taxpayer dollars to house them? >> exactly. >> great report. >> about $3 billion. >> thank you. we're going to have more on this breaking news tonight later with patrick buchanan. but first, israel's military oermgs against hamas continues tonight in gaza. now, earlier the israeli military asked for a four-hour cease-fire for humanitarian reasons but hamas quickly declined that request saying it did not add "any value." joining us now for the very latest is fox's own conor powell. conor, what's the latest? >> reporter: well, sean, four week into this conflict now and showing no signs of letting up
7:05 pm
here. we've actually moved inside because of significant small arms fire near our location for most of the night. we have seen more than 80 hamas rockets being launched from gaza into israel, just part of the 2,700 fired during this conflict from gaza into israel. it's israel being accused tonight of hitting civilian locations tonight in two separate incidents, one a u.n. school and one a crowded market. israeli fire apparently hitting those areas. it's being disputed, but reports from the area say that there were multiple targets landing in those areas. we know at least 30 people were killed in total in both of those conflict areas. some hundred or so today have actually been killed in total. now, the humanitarian situation here in gaza is really worsening by the day. we've seen longer lines for food, for water, for whole
7:06 pm
variety of different sort of bare necessities. the u.n. also saying they're completely overwhelmed. there are now some 200,000 people here in gaza seeking u.n. assistance. and the situation here really getting worse as the fighting is picking up. israel continuing its military operation here in gaza. the question is is will they expand it, that's what we don't know right now. but we do see some evidence that they are focusing on these tunnels and really trying to finish up destroying these cross border tunnels that hamas has used to attack israel in the past, sean. >> conor, the palestinian people voted to put the terror group, hamas, in power. with their offensive against israel and now with the lack of water and food and supplies, et cetera, and the constant fire, do they blame hamas at all for what's going on considering they started it? >> reporter: there's still a lot of support for the people we've spoken to here for hamas. not necessarily hamas, but from hamas' goals, which is to remove
7:07 pm
the blockade around gaza. everyone we've spoken to supports that. there is a lot of anger and frustration with hamas. hamas was losing a lot of support here before this war, which is why they had done this deal with the palestinian authority before this entire war was started about a month ago. hamas was losing a lot of support. they were short of money and short of support. but this war is actually ramped up support for them because of the goal of removing the blockade around gaza. that has a lot of support, not necessarily hamas, sean. >> conor, stay safe. i know it's a tough day for you today. thank you very much. also out of that region tonight we're learning more and more about the hamas terror group and its willingness to store its arsenal of weapons among civilians. using those civilians as human shields all in an effort to paint the israeli military as the enemy. sadly, there are some on the left in this country that are buying into that very absurd notion. take a look. >> we have to support iron dome to protect the israelis from the missiles, we have to support the palestinians in what they need and we have to refer with the
7:08 pm
qatari who have told me over and over again that hamas is a humanitarian organization. maybe they could use their influence to -- >> the u.s. thinks they're a terrorist organization, correct, do you? >> uh-huh. >> humanitarian? joining me now with reaction is the main subject of a new documentary titled "the green prince" which is out in september and also the son of the founder of hamas. sir, thank you for being with us. appreciate it. >> hi, sean. thank you for having me again. >> let me start with the hamas charter. because it's very clear. and they have never denounced this charter. and we'll put it up on the screen. and it's very clear that it calls for the obliteration and destruction, israel will exist and continue to exist until islam will obliterate it just as it obliterated others before it. so is it a humanitarian organization that wants to obliterate israel? >> well, hamas movement is not a
7:09 pm
national organization. and it's not a humanitarian organization. hamas is a terrorist organization with a humanitarian face to it. basically hamas hijacked what's so-called palestinian calls to push their political and religious, most importantly ideological agendas. hamas does not care. if tomorrow israel comes to hamas and say we give you the 1967 borders, hamas is not going to agree for that. >> yeah. >> basically because they don't have political boundaries to their ideology. they want to destroy the state of israel. they want to destroy any country that does not believe in their ideology. >> yeah. when nancy pelosi, i mean, she's a former speaker of the house. i got to assume she reads the newspapers. she said, well, the qataris tell me they're a humanitarian organization. meanwhile they just fired 3,000 rockets into israel. they kidnapped three israeli
7:10 pm
students and slaughtered them. why do you think there are so many in this country that are reluctant to identify hamas for what they are, a radical terrorist group? radical islamic terrorist group? >> well, i think the qataris take some responsibility in what's happening right now because they funded hamas over the last decade. and also turkey did the same. one of hamas' top leaders lived today in turkey, he was the one who give the command for those hamas members from the west bank to kidnap the israeli kids and slaughter them. so basically those powers in the region they need to stop supporting hamas organization because hamas organization simply is a terrorist organization and she does not care about the lives of
7:11 pm
palestinians. she does not care about the lives of israelis either. >> let me ask you, why do you speak out? your father is the founder of hamas. you're the son of the founder of hamas. a terrorist organization. why have you chosen to speak out as strongly as you do? >> well, one day islam and hamas were my project. as a family we paid very high price for the sake of hamas, for the sake of palestine. and i grew up witnessing all the bloodshed and the dirty politics behind it. and at some point in my life i choose to move on. but today i feel the responsibility, you know. the children of gaza remind me of myself 20 years ago. how we were crying in the streets not knowing what's going on. and the politicians were
7:12 pm
sentence us to death. and they were encouraging more people to die because the people of gaza and the children of gaza stop to die, many people will be out of business. and this is the time to speak against them, actually to do everything within my ability to unmask their faces. >> one last question. we have a president of the united states and a secretary of state, john kerry, that are continually pressuring israel into a cease-fire. would it not be in israel's best interest considering 3,000 rockets were fired at them to take out the infrastructure of hamas, take out the tunnels of hamas, find where the rockets are being hidden and take them away? do you think that a president of the united states should be pressuring them to stop before they actually break up the infrastructure of this group? >> well, i encourage the president of the united states of america, president obama, to
7:13 pm
make a hard decision. this is where leadership can be shown. at moments like this. i understand that there are children dying in gaza strip, but how many gaza wars are we going to witness in the future if we don't stop hamas now? hamas -- israel is in the middle of the job. let's help them. let's support them. approve and disarm hamas. without disarming hamas, hamas will use children as shield -- human shield in the future. and there will be more wars. and there will be more children. this is not the first gaza war. like now we have this is the fourth. and there will be many. so i'm asking the president of the united states of america, as the supreme power in this world, you know, we have responsibility. he has a responsibility. we know that it's a tough decision. it's not about siding with israel. israel is a democratic country, and i'm not taking sides here.
7:14 pm
i have family also in gaza that i care about. but those family and many palestinians are suffering from hamas. and israel is doing them the biggest favor of fighting against hamas organization. >> all right. mosab, very powerful message tonight. thank you. while israel does what it needs to in order to protect its citizens, while the obama administration has been reluctant to vocally back one of america's closest allieallies. now, just yesterday israel's channel 1 news reportedly obtained a leaked transcript of a phone call between prime minister netanyahu and obama and the white house immediately came out and said it was false. now, this was echoed by the prime minister's office as well. but my next guest is given a very different account of that call. joining me now to explain more is the former israeli defense minister, danny dannon is back with us. danny, in this conversation obama is saying you must stop. >> good evening, sean. i think president obama and
7:15 pm
secretary kerry live in imaginary world. what do they expect hamas to do? we need to fight hamas and terrorist should adopt unconditional cease-fire. what does that mean unconditional? that we leave the tunnels in tact? i think we should tell to our friend in the u.s. we cannot do what president obama is asking us. we have to do what the u.s. d when you fought against osama bin laden, against the taliban, you fight. you don't negotiate with them. you don't beg for a cease-fire. >> danny, if 3,000 rockets were fired into america, you can bet your bottom dollar we would take out the infrastructure of those people that fired those rockets. it is beyond bewildering to me the moral confusion that this president and secretary of state have. have you ever in your lifetime seen a president less supportive of israel, because i can't recall one? >> i want to remind you that president obama when he was a senator he came to israel as a
7:16 pm
candidate. and he spoke and said and i'm quoting him, that if somebody would shoot rockets into his house where his children sleep at night, he will do whatever he needs to fight them. i have my two daughters now sleeping at my house every night have to run to the shelter. so what happened to president obama? why he changed his opinion regarding fighting the terrorist? i think we have to be very strong. i know we have the support of the american people. and we should tell president obama let us deal with hamas the same way you did osama bin laden. >> last question, if the white house and the prime minister's office both deny the transcript that came out from news 1 and israel, you have it on good authority that that in fact was a real conversation of obama pressuring prime minister netanyahu to stand down? >> we have heard a lot of reports about this conversation. but you know what? look at statement from the white house today. look at secretary kerry what he is telling now to the media. he's not backing israel today. he's pushing israel for a premature cease-fire.
7:17 pm
and i think we should tell to president obama, no, we cannot do what you want because we have to take care of our children as well. >> all right, danny danon, thank you for being with us from israel tonight. >> thank you, sean. in iraq where christians there they're living in fear. they're being told to convert to islam or die. and two of the iraqi christians who protested outside the white house this weekend, they're here with a message for president obama. all of that and karl rove on impeachment talk, pat buchanan on the border issues on this busy news night here on "hannity." i'm ted and this is rudy. say "hi" rudy. [ barks ] [ chuckles ] i'd do anything to keep this guy happy and healthy. that's why i'm so excited about these new milk-bone brushing chews. whoa, i'm not the only one. it's a brilliant new way to take care of his teeth. clinically proven as effective as brushing. ok, here you go. have you ever seen a dog brush his own teeth? the twist and nub design cleans all the way down to the gum line, even reaching the back teeth. they taste like a treat, but they clean like a toothbrush.
7:18 pm
nothing says you care like a milk-bone brushing chew. 7:19 pm
7:20 pm
in this program, they've now turned their bloody sights on religious fights. here with the latest on the ground where many iraqi christians have fled, as i understand it, pretty simple, pay a tax, convert to islam or you will die. tell us what's going on. >> that's right. about two weeks ago the islamic militants told the 1,500 remaining christians in mosul they had to convert or be killed. basically the entire christian community decided to leave. and their possessions were taken from them, their houses were claimed. as people were leaving the city, initially at the checkpoints they were stripped of literally everything they had including id cards, money, they were taking earrings out of little girls
7:21 pm
ears by some accounts. many have come to the curd stan region where i am and by all accounts there may be five family left in mosul at this point who did decide to convert to islam because they could not flee. >> this is what we talk about when we talk about a caliphate. either you convert or you will die. have a lot of people died that you know of? >> no. from what i've heard people have not been killed in mosul. the people we've heard about being killed are former iraqi soldiers. but as far as i know, no christians have actually been killed. basically because most of them have fled, all of them have fled. >> and they fled their homes and leave everything behind. thank you so much for your report. stay safe there. >> thank you. over the weekend hundreds of people gathered right in front of the white house demanding that our seemingly absent president finally do something about the genocide that is in
7:22 pm
fact taking place in iraq. a similar demonstration by iraqi christians were held in automaker in of cities on saturday including paris and london. joining me now from the syrian american national federation is martin umarin. both of whom helped organize saturday's protest in washington. thank you both for being here. we appreciate it. let me ask you, tell us -- we're talking about religious cleansing here. we're talking about mass slaughter. tell us what you know. >> yes. actually just to piggyback on what she said earlier, there are a lot of christians being massacred. i have family there. and they are so afraid. there are a few families that were even left behind. they were in mosul and at checkpoints they completely gunned down an entire family. they stuffed as many people as
7:23 pm
they possibly can in one car because all of their cars were taken. and families have been slaughtered. a lot of christian families. they can't even have a funeral. they're dismembered, their bodies. it's terrible and i'm not sure why it's kept a secret. it's definitely not a secret anymore. it's just terrible. they're being beheaded. there's entire families that my aunt heard of they actually stormed in their house. and they gave them the three options, which they're just saying that as if it's a joke. you don't have an option. most of them right now they're just being killed. they're not oeceven given any options. family slaughtered right in front of the father. the children, the young girls were rapesed and then killed. sometimes they'll spare someone. this is also their tactic to distill fear into the entire iraqi-christian community.
7:24 pm
and they initially did start only attacking christians. this was their intention. the muslims that are also being killed is because they are friends of the christians. whoever's friends with the christians, whoever has any respect for humanity or is affiliated in any way with americans or the western world, they will die. they won't even think twice about shooting them. >> it's very chilling. martin, it sounds like modern day nazis. >> yeah. thanks for having me again, sean. it's very bad. it is modern day nazis. it's a war on terror. and president obama has looked the other way. and our people are suffering. hermoine stated there haven't been that many people dying, but unfortunately the people who have fled, there are refugees in the northern part of kurdistan region homeland of the syrian
7:25 pm
people, it's pretty much that they are left with no electricity, no potable water. it's just a matter of time before they will start dying if nothing is done. and we need a long-term solution. and president obama has just looked the other way. and that's unheard of. >> i promise you both we will continue to put pressure -- we will call attention to this mass human slaughter. >> thank you. >> you know, the 9/11 commission report said they are at war with us, talking about radical islamists. they're at war with christians and jews. they want a modern day holocaust. and this president's asleep at the wheel. thank you both. and our thoughts and prayers are with your families and with the people that you know and all the people in the region. thank you. >> thank you again, sean. hopefully we can get something done here. thank you. >> i hope so. coming up next tonight right here on "hannity". >> in listening to your testimony i felt ashamed. and i asked my colleagues are
7:26 pm
7:27 pm
7:28 pm
welcome back to "hannity." democrats are resorting to desperate words to push their agenda. just yesterday california congresswoman barbara lee had this to say about her country during a progressive caucus hearing. watch. >> in listening to your testimony, i felt ashamed. and i asked my colleagues, are you talking about america? is this america? where you fled and were treated as you were? >> ashamed of america? really? well, it sounds like she's
7:29 pm
taking a page out of the first lady's talking points. meanwhile, late last week the top democrat in the house, nancy pelosi, she doubled down on this religious analogy regarding the illegal children that are flooding into this country. remember this. >> they're children. and as i said to you before the national catholic conference of bishops compared this to baby jesus fleeing violence. you can even speak about moses, what would we do if moses had not been accepted by the family. >> the same woman said the qataris told her that, of course, hamas is a humanitarian group. here with reaction to this author of the best selling book "greatest comeback," patrick j. buchanan. so hamas is a humanitarian group, pat. what did you think of the jesus analogy? >> as i recall i think they fled into egypt as a family. and what happened to the holy innocence left behind was not
7:30 pm
all that nice. with regard to the pharoah, moses led the israelites out of egypt. >> what if the president pushes this immigration as we keep reading reports that he's going to give pretty much blanket amnesty work permits to five of the 11 million here illegally, he's going to do it, bypass congress, what do you do? >> i think this is a very serious problem for the country. i think he can do this and get away with it 5 million to 8 million folks give them work permits, permission to stay. de facto amnesty. what does it do for barack obama? it energizes the hispanic base and changes the subject in the elections of 2014 from foreign
7:31 pm
policy failures and domestic policy failures to the issue a lot will raise impeach the guy for doing this. that will split the republican party. sean, the chamber of commerce in some of these moderate republicans will believe the issue is behind them. i think something like this is coming. i don't know whether barack obama would do it before the election or after the election, but i think he's exactly the guy to do it because he wants to transform america. and how better to transform america than basically to put 8 million people here illegally on a path to citizenship when 80%, 90% of them tend to vote democratic. >> last question. i thought america was founded on judeo-christian -- he thanked them for their contribution to building the very fabric of our nation. is that true? >> there's no doubt. look, there are brave,
7:32 pm
honorable, good muslims in this country. >> was it judeo-christian ethic? >> my goodness, 99% of the folks in the united states were protestant christians -- look, this was a christian country when it was founded. it was a nonreligious state, but a predominantly christian country and ceasing to be so. i don't think that's a good thing for america or the world. >> congrats on the success of your book. appreciate it. thanks for being with us. coming up, the architect karl rove is holding nothing back when it comes to the obsession of the left. plus, we'll get his reaction to the newly released lois lerner e-mails in which she calls republicans, well, words i can't say on television. one the first letter is "a" and second part of the word is hole. we'll tell you about that. and later -- >> like a terrorist.
7:33 pm
use intimidation, big, unreasonable -- >> acting like a terrorist, russell brand, the man better known as katy perry's ex-husband calling me somebody who acts like a terrorist. we're going to educate him on what real terrorism is tonight. a few words for him straight ahead. nexium®,is now available, without a prescription for frequent heartburn. get complete protection. because the best moments in life aren't experienced holding you back.nes.ing this is nexium level protection™. the #1 prescribed acid-blocking brand. now without a prescription for frequent heartburn. get complete protection. nexium level protection™.

7:38 pm
welcome back to "hannity." recently governor palin voiced support for -- now the left is fund raising based on the so-called threat even though the speaker of the house and no elected congressman has said they want to take up the issue. my next guest says it's pathetic for democrats to be pushing this narrative. joining us, architect karl rove. is there one elected official that said this? i can't think of one. >> well, there's several that
7:39 pm
have intimated. we have to be very careful not to be useful stooges for the president. he wants the conversation in the next 97 days to be about impeachment. he doesn't want it to be about obamacare and the deficit and debt and his overreach on -- his failure to address the border. he doesn't want any of that. he wants this to be about impeachment because independents favor -- >> failed. >> yeah, he failed. independents favor republicans by 11 points. they disapprove of him by 59%. but 63% of them don't want him to be impeached. the conversation about impeachment helps energize his base, turn off independents and more important than anything else pat buchanan put his finger on it, it takes this away from the issues that are going to win for us in november. >> there's a recent poll this week that romney would win by a landslide if the 2012 elections were held today. 55% to 57% don't think he's up
7:40 pm
for the job. cbs news announced republicans would win the senate if that election were held today. i think this is a huge distraction. and politically it would be stupid for the republicans to bite that apple. >> yeah. now, remember this, in june of 2008 senior members of the democratic party, representative lee whom you had on camera earlier and democratic chairman and co-chairman joined in a resolution and introduced it to impeach george w. bush. what did first lady laura bush and then-republican national chairman mike duncan and the white house press secretary went out like their counterparts did in the last week on the obama team and used it for fund raising purposes. you bet that the media starting with the "new york times" would have been up in arms about its inappropriateness. but it once again shows the mainstream media is going to go along with the administration on this kind of thing. >> i bet the numbers if you look at msnbc and the transcripts, they mention impeach or
7:41 pm
impeachment, look at that, 1,246 times. fox news channel 346 times. if you look at for example the full screen, we got to transcripts they mention, you know, if you go from july 1st to 29th, the same thing. it's dramatic because they are pushing this. here's the question, if republicans want to win this election, if the president for example grants amnesty and bypasses congress, i think on the issue of law this president has as jonathan turley said, pushed us to a constitutional tipping point. how do you deal with that aspect? he keeps pushing the envelope, pushing the envelope, seemingly wanting people to do this to him. >> well, we need a republican senate and a republican house who will reign him in, who will use the power of the purse to deny the president the ability to do these things. and it puts every democrat in a hot race on the hot seat. if you're mark pryor, do you want to stand up and say i agree with what the president did? or are you tom cotton who says i will vote to remove this
7:42 pm
president's policy and restore the status quo? do you have, you know, in every one of these races you'll have the difference between one candidate who says i will vote to reign in the president and democrat forced into a tough decision. >> you're right. important election this midterm. thank you. >> thank you. coming up next, tonight, right here on "hannity". >> acting like a terrorist using intimidation, being unreasonable, sean hannity. >> terrorism for me? the man formerly known as katy perry's husband, russell brand, he took a shot at yours truly. when we come back i'll educate him on what terrorist is straight ahead. with your... dog. and this is the best time for big savings at bass pro shops' fall hunting classic. this weekend save up to an extra $100 on a new bow when you trade one in. plus free hunting seminars.

7:48 pm
>> a terrorist organization. >> it's hamas. a terrorist organization. that's another one of the rules i have. i didn't take a job on fox news -- i'm interested in shouting and pointing and simplifying things. >> not funny. anyway, ouch. i feel so bad russell doesn't like my style of interviewing. unfortunately this out of work actor didn't stop at stylistic critiqu critiques. >> palestine -- there isn't even a palestine. gaza strip. they don't even have an army. they don't have one. so if they're in any way going to try to defend themselves, it's going to be through what we would perceive or term as acts of terror. but that's just language really. >> 3,000 rockets, russell, fired
7:49 pm
into israel. two-thirds of the israeli population in bunkers in just the last month. now, russell, if you're watching and i'm sure you will, take a close look at your tv because i need to educate you because you're kind of dumb and ignorant. this, what i'm about to show you to educate you, is the charter of the internationally recognized terror group, hamas. i'll read it with you to help you. israel will exist and will continue to exist until islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it. in fact, hamas will seek to destroy israel at any cost even by using fellow palestinian women and children as human shields. apparently russell can't get it through his thick head and possibly fathom that this is the reality. joining us now is bernard mcgerk. >> hello. >> and geraldo. >> you look like that thing on top of the wedding cake. >> don't get me wrong. >> that's not bad. not bad. >> well, he refers to me as a
7:50 pm
