a similar move. let me put this in jeanine speak. the world is going to hell in a hand basket and barack obama doesn't have the leadership, the instincts or even the interest to get america back on track. why do i say this? consider the following. 60% of americans disapprove of the president's handling of the israel/hamas conflict. 57% disapprove of his handling of ukraine, iraq and afghanistan situations. and 68% of americans disapprove of his handling of immigration and believe it to be an extremely serious problem. and even his own party in harry reid's democratically controlled senate couldn't pass the president's border crisis bill. the house at least passed a bill but america's ceo swore he wouldn't sign it. and sarcastically chastised

today benjamin netanyahu vows to continue fighting against hamas. this as the attempts to broker a cease-fire agreement came to a disastrous end on friday. with me now, former u.s. ambassador to the united nations and fox news contributor john bolten. good evening, ambassador. first your reaction to what prime minister netanyahu said today? >> i think he's made it clear in today's statement and in several conversations with president obama, secretary of state kerry, the u.s. ambassador in israel, that he will continue with this operation in gaza until he accomplishes his objectives. that outside pressure and very misguided efforts by the university and others in effect to impose a cease-fire in israel won't work. i have to say i'm surprised but happy that prime minister netanyahu is standing up to this
1:17 am
pressure. at least from everything we can see. >> i thought it was interesting because president obama was very hard, demanding a cease fire and all that. and yet netanyahu was very gracious saying, we thank the united states but we're going to do what we're going to do. he didn't take a hit. he wasn't small. he has a mission. his mission is to protect israel. when he made that statement today, do we know if that third soldier that we thought kidnapped was known to be dead at that point? >> well, i haven't seen anything. i have to say, i think hamas took such a hit internationally for this cynical and shameless violation of the cease-fire so quickly. the claims that they were making that they had kidnapped this israeli soldier. they realized they had made a miss take. i hope it's true that sadly, the soldier is dead, obviously, but i hope it's true that he died in
1:18 am
battle and that he wasn't executed by hamas. i have a sinking feeling that hamas may have been trying to cut its losses. one of the thing that netanyahu was reported to have said in private to kerry and the ambassadors is don't ever second-guess me a again with hamas. i think the united states administration has utterly misjudged what hamas is all about. that's not surprising. you have the muslim brotherhood that was connected to hamas is a group that the united states supports. when the egyptians threw them out, t they couldn't live under them. the big picture, in my open, we've got putin and isis. what can the united states do to reassert itself or are we doomed for the next two years. >> i'm afraid the only way we'll change this is to get a real president. there is sim plu no evidence
1:19 am
that obama either understands what is happening in the middle east, which is that it is descending into chaos, or if he does understand it, he is concerned about it. i think he believes the diminished american role in the world is better for all concerned. that is 180 degrees the opposite of reality. the more the united states withdraws and fails to protect its interests and its friends and allies, the more trouble we'll see. so i think we're in for a perilous two and a half years. that's why i am desperate to see a national debate on foreign and defense policy. i think the american people are much smarter than their political leadership in washington or the political operatives and journalists who are constantly saying, nobody cares about foreign policy. i think they understand what's going on. which is why israel enjoys such overwhelming support. not just in israeli public opinion but american public opinion as well. >> you know, when you talk about
1:20 am
that, do you think the united states even has allies anymore devin the weakness that we've shown and the double speak the president engages in and the refusal to even have people follow his red lines? >> i think many of our allies around the world are worried that obama reflects not just a failed presidency but a new direction for the united states. i think this is entirely due to obama. i think it is correctible as when ronald reagan became president. he instantaneously corrected the world's impression of jimmy carter in a weakened united states. but people are worried and they're hedging their bets. i think given that our adversaries see their best shot comes in the next two years, that we're going to see a rising level of threats and challenges and i'm afraid that our allies will do what they think they need to do to protect themselves. >> all right.

1:25 am
ebola. now, what everyone wants to know. is there a risk to americans in bringing these infected medical personnel to the united states? >> well, great question. this is a great team. the cdc, emory university, great ambulance service. so the risk is very low but it is not zero. remember, there was a south african man who was taken to south africa. he infected a nurse and the nurse died. the interesting thing is did they need to bring him here? he walked out of the ambulance. this was not a gravely ill individual. the fact is he could have been treated in africa. when i had cholera at the end of the rwanda genocide, i insisted on being treated there so i wouldn't come back and infect friends and relatives. >> so you bring up some great issues. number one, the first part of what you said. that is, we have a doctor, maybe a nurse, the two of them are
1:26 am
treating ebola. nobody knows more about treating that virus than these two people. how did they catch it? how did they get it? >> exactly right, your honor. how did they get it? i mean, i was in an ebola epidemic ward in northern uganda. i walked around with these doctors. i had the mask and the protective gear. the two doctors that i walked around with. one of them touched a patient on the hand. they bleed under the skin during their last days. the other had a single droplet go right here with his mask off. both were dead within five days. so despite what you think you know about this, it is a pretty deadly, pretty awful disease. >> and i've heard someone say that you know, what takes aids 15 years can take three or four days if you have ebola. >> that's my quote. exactly. >> that's why i said, i heard someone say that.
1:27 am
>> i love who you quote. so it attacks the same come opponents of the immune system. that is, aids and ebola attack the same come opponents of the immune system but aids will take five, ten, 15 years to develop where this disease is taking just days. >> all right. let me ask you, you're on not a airplane, all right in the symptoms of ebola, doctor, as i understand it, are similar to flu-like symptoms. you may be nauseous, fever, headache, vomiting. it is not full blown yet. so you can actualill you know, spread it around that airplane. i know it is not airborne. if you sneeze, talk to me. that's dangerous stuff. >> sure. so here's the interesting thing. one is you have a patient who gets on the airplane and during the trip they sweat, they feel like they have the flu, they ache and they're indistinguishable from having the flu. now as the disease goes on and
1:28 am
they develop nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and eventually they start to bleed out of their eyes and skin, it becomes a much more serious disease. once they start to have symptoms, they are able to infect you. they infect body fluids so blood, feces, urine. those are the fluids that infect you. someone could be ill on an airplane. get to an airport and affect those around them. if they were to touch their skin in the late serious parts of the disease. the real nightmare scenario, your honor, is this. it is that you have somebody who is infected, say in liberia. it could be two or three weeks before they start to develop symptoms. in the meantime, they have flown to phoenix, or aspen or honolulu or someplace where they don't expect. this they think they have the flu. all the doctors and nurses are touching their body fluids. they're touching others. they don't expect it.
1:29 am
>> why are they being treat here? i mean, they are americans. the question is could they have been treated just as he'sfully africa? >> absolutely. there was no medical reason to bring them here. especially when you see how well dr. brantley was. it is supportive care. you give them intravenal us fluids. there are extra hospitals there. they're more used to treating this. the reason is the head of samaritan's purse, a wonderful human being. one of the best i've ever met, billy graham's son, franklin graham. he takes the best care of his people of any relief organization. he had a couple of his members taken hostage i think in sudan. i went to the ends of the toerth free them. so he will make sure they have the best care on the planet. but you're right. they didn't need to come here to save their lives. bottom line. >> so dr. bob, very quickly, the fact it was samaritan's purse and they had franklin graham, a

1:35 am
or so. this comes as the military saying that they have basically finished the task of destroying all the 32 cross bored he underground tunnel that's the israeli military had identified that hamas had built. this has taken several weeks. the israeli military saying they are almost done destroying these tunnels. and with that task accomplished, the israeli military can begin to pull back. now they are still going to leave some troops in gaza but for how much longer, it is not at all clear. one of the developments is the fact the israeli military said a missing soldier had been captured by hamas. they are now announcing tonight that no, in fact he was killed in combat. hamas had always denied since this was announced yesterday that they didn't have possession of this missing soldier. that they had in fact even lost contact with the alleged fighters, the militants who had reportedly tried to capture him.
1:36 am
this is a big change. it was a nightmare scenario that there was this missing israeli soldier. it meant the fighting could have been escalated even further. just in the last 24 hours, we've seen heavy fighting. really heavy shelling by the israelis in the southern part of gaza, that area where this missing soldier was reportedly captured. now we're hearing that that soldier was not captured but kill in action. we're waiting to see if there will be a unilateral withdrawal from gaza. prime minister netanyahu so far has not declared that. it does look like the israelis are significantly pulling back. >> all right. thanks so much. stay safe. with me now, terrorism analyst with the investigative project,. all right. your expertise on the middle east is unparalleled. what is your interpretation of what is going on with what the

prime netanyahu said and the shelling that apparently is still going on? >> the definition of insanity is repeating behavior that you know is insane. with whatever this administration has done, let me be very clear and blunt is bordering on the criminally insane that has resulted in murder. and i'm not using those words lightly. because the president knows that hamas is a terrorist group that is unrelentingly committed to the destruction of israel. it is a child of the muslim brotherhood which the president has embraced. the president said tonight, it sent to cairo with hamas, to negotiate on the cease-fire. the seventh cease-fire. all six of the previous ones have been violated by hamas.
1:38 am
>> steve, i don't mean to interrupt you but that is insanity. why, if hamas within 90 minutes of a cease-fire violates the cease-fire, why is the united states continuing to negotiate with hamas? why? >> i ask the same -- why is the u.s. recognizing and rewarding hamas when in the very beginning of this conflict, when hamas abducted three israeli teens, one which of had american citizenship and killed them immediately, hamas should have been indicted on murder charges. instead of being rewarded and being recognized by the united states, either directly or indirectly through the government of qatar which is also a support he of terrorism. and instead of being embraced by the united states, qatar should be on the list of countries supporting terrorism and sanctions. >> steve, we need qatar. we need them so we can find out the five worst terrorists so we
1:39 am
can release them for one alleged deserter. let me ask you finally, why, what do you see is the future? there will continue to be shelling but israel thinks they've gotten all the tunnels? >> first of all, two things. one is hamas claimed that it didn't have, or didn't take, kidnap the soldier. i have here a claim, it was tranls-related. they're claiming openly the kidnapping of the soldier. number two, the fact that he was declared dead does not exonerate hamas. in fact, i can tell you that it is likely that hamas killed him in captivity. number three, hamas said tonight no, cease-fire without our own conditions. that means that israel is going to have to endure an eternal situation of unrelenting rocket fire, continued tunnel and
1:40 am
murderous attacks and hamas aggression that can be stopped. it can be stopped. if the united states would say to qatar, unless you stop all arms and financial equipment and supplies to hamas, we are going to sanction you, qatar, and they're not doing that. >> got to go. it is always great hearing your point of view. thanks so much. joining me now, the former deputy defense minister, live from tel aviv. all right. good evening, dan. what do you think of the prime minister netanyahu, he spoke today. what are your thoughts tonight? >> good evening. i think it was announce that had exactly what he should have said earlier with secretary kerry. leave us alone. you live in an imaginary world. only three days ago, secretary kerry announce that had a cease-fire, look what happened. two-hours later, a suicide bomber killed three of our boys. i think we have to understand that secretary kerry is not
