7:01 pm
emotional tour of a hospital where they are treating idf soldiers. >> we are continuing to treat them now. >> we have the latest on yesterday's deadly terror attack that rocked jerusalem. >> looking into what we think, moments before, during and after this attack. >> this is hannity on the ground and israel, hannity starts right here, right now. >> a 72 hour cease-fire is in effect. the israeli military says all idf forces have been removed from gaza. talks for a long term truce are set to begin in cairo. there's major concern about whether hamas will comply. minutes before the cease-fire took effect at 8:00 a.m. local time on tuesday. multiple rockets were fired from gaza into central and southern israel. rick leventhal is on the ground
7:02 pm
with the latest tonight. rick? >> a wear and welcome calm. it's been very quiet here, and that's given a window of opportunity for some of the residents of the hardest hit areas to get home and take a look at what's left of their shattered apartments and buildings there. we took a trip to east gaza. where the town was simply flattened, this was after extensive battles between the idf and hamas, there's a staggering degree of destruction in towns nearby. almost every house, apartment building and business was shelved, damaged or destroyed. power lines were down, vehicles were crossed or incinerated. we saw many residents carrying out what they could, furniture, blankets, clothing, but we also saw some big crowds in bustling marketplaces, a few minutes
7:03 pm
away, many stores and vendors were back in business today for the first time in days or weeks selling clothes and daily staples, including meat, bread and fruit. we went to one intersection that we went to two days ago, and at that time there had been an air strike. it was completely desserted. today the same intersection, the stores were open. it was difficult for us to cross the street, it was an interesting contrast between these devastated neighborhood a few minutes away, and downtown gaza city which is struggling to get on its feet. >> rick, i spent the better part of the day at the israeli gaza border, and literally at the border, the israeli troops moved back, you can see the dust flying as they pulled out of there. were you seeing it on your side? >> those tanks have been staged there for a couple days now, as you mentioned, some of them were just left this morning, that's
7:04 pm
one of the reasons why so many residents felt safe enough to go back to their homes, the troops have withdrawn and they knew the cease-fire was in effect. they hadn't seen these border towns since they were heavily shelled 10, 15, 20 days ago, they know the troops are there, they realize this cease-fire could end at any moment. we heard from hamas today, saying its fighters are on stand by. israel says they believe hamas has at least 3,000 rockets left. and it could take very little for that barrage to resume. >> just minuteses before the 72-hour cease-fire went into effect this morning. hamas fired rockets across the border into israel. i spoke to a resident just hours later about what it's like living in constant fear of these attacks. and i saw firsthand the damage that was done by today's rockets. let's take a look. here we are in a kibbutz.
7:05 pm
it's a community. this is adva. right officer my shoulder this is gaza, one of the closest points between israel and gaza. one of the closest meeting points. you woke up this morning, and you woke up to mortar fire? >> yeah, i woke up to the siren, code red. and my application on my cell phone went off immediately and woke me up. maybe five, six seconds later i heard the explosion. >> so it's -- this is how close it is. we're going to give you some of the proximity here, you're from los angeles you can right? >> yes, i was born in israel, i moved to l.a. when i was 14. so i've been here for 30 years, don't tell anyone my age. >> your secret is safe. you moved to one of the closest points between gaza and israel. you know the threat, it's not just this latest, it's the latest battle that's gone on.
7:06 pm
i'm sure all the time you've been here, you lived under this stress? why live here? >> i was here for the last war, two years ago. because this is home. this is our home, if we're not going to live here, who's going to live here? these guys. >> you feel you have to take a stand almost? >> yeah, i didn't come here from the u.s. to sit in the coffee shop in tel aviv and sip coffee, i came to israel because i love this country. i served in gaza. >> so this is a stand for you. is it important? does this impact other people? in other words, is it your feeling that if you give up this part, then that means you're going to give up more and more? >> absolutely. absolutely. >> how does it feel? >> i don't think israel should give up on any of its plans. even for people who don't believe in the bible, i do. actually, and -- >> i'm a christian, i believe in
7:07 pm
the bible. >> joshua chapter 1 specifies the borders specifically. this is israel, there is no palestine, palestine never existed and i dare anyone to show me records that it did. >> i don't see tunnels from israel going into hamas. >> and you don't see us with ammunition shooting at them either. >> reporter: when you woke up this morning, how many rockets did you hear? >> i think i heard about six. but that one that we're going to see is the one that -- the only one that i think hit a building. >> now, right where we are here, this is sort of like a student dorm area we're in. >> right. >> reporter: you actually live here? >> right. >> reporter: this is your home? >> right. this is where it hit right here, it went through a lot of layers of cement. you can see how deep down it goes. i picked up this, and this is some shrapnel from the bomb that
7:08 pm
went off. here's the interesting part, though. and help me through this, you go into this area, shrapnel here, penetrating what is a washer and dryer. shrapnel, look at this entire door, this wasn't here until this morning, right? >> right. >> maximum impact, hope for human damage, can you see the broken glass that exists here. it's not just this one, if you walk into this area here, these are not small holes, these are big holes. >> if this were to hit a person -- i don't even want to think about it. >> it goes even deeper as you go inside this actual home, can you see all the broken glass here on the ground down here, can you hear it as we step right there. the rook ets explode and all the shrapnel comes flying out of here, and we'll take a look on the other side, it lands in the middle of an area where you have four separate homes. you can see the shrapnel. this is cement here, it
7:09 pm
penetrated the cement. >> look at this here, how big they are. >> all from this one rocket? >> just from this morning. >> this one rocket. the same goes from over here, and the doors knocked out over here. you're say ago six? >> about six. >> this was three minutes before the cease-fire began? >> this was at 7:55 began when peace was supposed to be ranned at 8:00. many people around here are saying, it's over. personally, i don't think it is. and i don't think it should be over until that place is over. >> interestingly, if you look out right over in this direction, you'll see an ambulance. the left window of the ambulance is knocked out as a result of this -- >> the recoil. because it's so narrow here, it's like a corridor. the recoil had nowhere to go, it blew out even the ambulance over there. >> it shakes the entire neighborhood? >> oh, yeah. my home shook and i live about three rows down. >> you've lived here how long
7:10 pm
now? >> this august it was three years. >> and then the question is, you know how close proximity you are, and i go back to the importance, why you feel this is important. >> this is part of israel. if the people who live here leave and move somewhere else, i have no doubt about who's going to take over, and our country is so small. we could see this war, when rockets from gaza hit north of tel aviv, we have to be here, we have to stay here. >> thank you. god speed, stay safe. >> thank you, sean. coming up next, tonight from jerusalem, right here on hannity. >> this is a gun that comes from gaza. >> what kind of damage could this make? >> kill people. >> a mayor gives me a tour of the local police station and
7:11 pm
shows me the large pile of hamas rockets they have collected over time. that and much more, as hannity continues on the ground. we're in jerusalem, as we continue. when i had my first migraine, i was lucky. that sounds crazy, i know. but my mom got migraines, so she knew this would help. excedrin migraine starts to relieve my pain in 30 minutes. plus, sensitivity to light and sound, even nausea. excedrin migraine works. if your denture moves, it can irritate your gums.

incumbent under fire for not seeking enough votes in his home of kansas. roberts has had a lead for some time. and this is the tea party's last opportunity to knock off an incumbent realistically. it's going to be a long night. tea partiers getting a bit nervous. >> also in kansas, sam brownback has won his primary, he will face paul davis in the november election, a race that could be tight even in traditionally red kansas. we're watching two races in michigan. kerry bentivolio has lost to david trott. we're still waiting on the third district in michigan, western michigan, just there you see a

7:17 pm
if the world can really conceive of living life under that constant threat. it's a constant threat. >> no one. no one will understand the feeling to be and to live with this situation. even as a resident of israel. i know many times, we talk to tel aviv. from jerusalem, i say i'm under attack. i cannot give into the feeling. in this war, everyone in israel know. because we make it fall. you will see that everyone support the flying -- support the army, what to do. >> the prime minister came here? >> yes. it's sort of like the prime minister said, that you are using weapons to protect their people. they use their people to protect their weapons. you talk about 10,000 bombs in 10 years, this is only the latest incident where a lot of
7:18 pm
bombs have been -- this is a constant threat, a never ending threat? >> yes. in the end, until hamas will not change its ways. >> you're a mile and a half away from gaza, you're taking on 10,000 rockets in ten years. this fight, they can take -- you're saying that affects everybody in the world? >> of course you can -- >> how do you explain that -- >> when i look at the rockets. why? they shoot the rockets to kill me and my people and my family, and they blame jerusalem for the rockets. this is not about money. >> now, this is the police station? >> yeah, this is the police station. >> hi, how are you? shal

welcome back to hannity, we're on the ground in israel, we're in jerusalem tonight. with the constant fear of hamas rockets being fired into the border. it's been deemed too dangerous for any children to play outdoors. back in 2009 when heavy fighting was taking place, the jewish national fund built an indoor playground. i got an exclusive look at the recreation center which also serves as a bomb shelter. we spoke to several children and patients who were there. this is a children's center they built, literally they get as many as 800, 900 kids a day. they can't play outside.
7:25 pm
this facility was built. bomb proof. >> this is an area where kids need to go into, an indoor secure facility just to be kids. anywhere else in the world you take it for granted, kids want to play, they go out and play. >> no kid plays outside here? >> they do, but even when you do go outside, you never know when the next rocket is going to come. >> this facility was built so they would have a place to be kids? >> yes, the story begins in may 2007. already more than 7 years of shelling, no safe place in the area to play in. indoor facilities, one of a kind in the world. and when you walk outside today, you hear something that people in the world did not hear for a decade, the laughter of children playing. and that is not something you can take lightly here. >> you built this. this entire facility, we're going do walk out here where the children are, this entire
