2:03 am
significantly in the region they will pull back. i think we need to rearm -- we never are rearmed. we need to arm them so they can de fenned themselves but we cannot just do pinpricks. we must have 24/7 air cover there. they dropped drinking water and thousands of meals ready to eat. >> elizabeth prann live, thank you, elizabeth. >> is president obama really taking the right action? is will it work to stop isis and what is next if the president says we won't have boots on the ground. thank you so much for joining us so early this morning. busy night. no doubt you have been monitoring what has been going or no. what does it mean when you hear targeted air strikes? (speaking on telephone) >> targeted air strikes means some sort of limited action.
2:04 am
it means there's a limited set of targets and restrictions on what we will and will not do. it doesn't mean if we find an isis target we will de fete -- defeat it. he said to protect american personnel. that means potentially they may be up near the mountain where this potential massacre is about to happen. looks like the president is taking a humanitarian approach here as opposed to an offensive operation. it won't be an attempt to defeat isis. you have a pot boiling over where radical group wants to slaughter christians in the northern area. looks like the president is still continuing to dabble here humanitarian aid to protect americans but it looks like we have some troops up there possibly that could lead to an escalation. this is a situation we have to watch close.
2:05 am
>> in your opinion is this the right option or is it too little too late? >> it is of course too little too late. you have a situation that has become untenable. you have such a radical enemy. modern say nazis slaughtering christians as quickly as they can also gaining more growned in lebanon, and syria, elsewhere. they are on the march. this is not enough. you have to go after them offensively not just because it's iraq but it is such a radical enemy he demonstrated it wants to strike us and allies every where. we are doing nothing. we should be helping as the previous guest mentioned. we should be supporting the iraqi army more robustly. we should be defending christians and others being slaughtered. this is dipping our toe in the water that isn't going to effect the outcome.
2:06 am
>> i have to ask you when we talk about what we should be doing do you think that would involve boots on the ground? >> there are will are boots on the ground and advisors. the question is what do we allow them to do? how much air support do we provide? i would argue it would be required at some point boots on the ground in order to deal with a threat like isis that is so radical and dangerous. this president isn't going to do that. we could do a lot with some special operators and a lot of things from the skies. isis is gathering in groups in large formations like they did with they dutook over iraq. if tens of thousands of people are dying on a mountain top there needs to be action. >> thank you for joining us.
