talented, dead at age 63. morin county authorities responded to a call and found mr. williams dead in his home around noon today. the coroner suspects it may be suicide but we are not going to speculate. we can tell that you robin williams had had a history of depression and recently underwent rehab. best known for free willing comedy he won an award for his serious role in goodwill hunting. >> tough kid. ask you about why you probably would throw shakespeare at me right, once more in the beach dear friends. you never been near one, you never held your best friend's head in your lab and watch his gasp his last bread. >> robin williams also scored big in mrs. doubtgood mo, as well as the sitcom mork and mindy.

the perils of fame are well known to most americans. but with the rise of social media, celebrities are under siege. their lives dissected and sometimes used for perverse entertainment by callus consumers. all of that putting human beings are in the spotlight under tremendous pressure. joining us now from new orleans james carville who has been in the public eye for decades and did meet robin williams and here in new york city, andrea tantaros co-host of the five relatively knew to the fame game. again, as i say we don't want to speculate about mr. williams. his family is grieving tonight and we respect that we want the authorities to define it. he was in rehab. he did have problems are as he acknowledged handling fame. as i just said you are knew to this thick. when i started 280 years ago it isn't nearly what it is now and we have to watch every move we make. a guy like robin williams a mega star whatever he goes. a photograph and autograph just a kind word puts

enormous amount of pressure on people. >> it is. if you look at twitter and social media right now. most of the comments are just how much love for him that they had. he transcended generations, bill. there is young kids who are grieving this as well as, you know, i think older americans are looking at him and remembering his work. but, you know, the fact that he put it out there, the fact that, you know, when you are in the public spotlight you have to be as you said on point. and not just on point in your acting, he had to be funny. he had to take his issues of depression and show up for work and make people laugh. and he still was able to do it. i think it's astounding. it is incredible to see the comments pouring out. even some negative though. >> ignore the nuts. >> what you have to deal with when you are alive. >> always ignore the nuts. >> carville, you met robin williams at the tonight show, right? >> right, that's correct. >> tell me about that. >> well, you know, he was the lead guest, obviously. i came on and i will just never forget it we were in

i admired his ability to make people laugh but at the same time win an academy award for dramatic role. he was off the chart talented. that doesn't mean anything in this day and age, andrea. i don't think people understand that regular folks understand that when you are in this in the spotlight, every second of every day that when you walk out of that house, you have got to watch every move you make because of the cameras and this and the that, okay. it takes a toll. it takes a toll on me and everybody. a guy like robin williams, i'm not going to again speculate on what was going on inside his head, when the news broke today, i said one of two things, overdose or suicide. >> you know, he also, besides having to be funny, people forget celebrities deal with the same issues. they have more money than a lot of regular americans. >> absolutely. >> same issues and same problems. you are right, it's astounding. he was dealing with all these issues. and a he, even though he went out of his house, he was known to drop into

bill o'reilly in the personal story segment tent. death reaction to the death of robin williams who may have committed suicide. morin county authorities found him dead about noon today in his home. joining us by phone in los angeles former tonight show booker and co-producer daveberg. author of the new book behind the curtain. mr. berg worked with jay leno for decades and knew robin williams over a sign of 13 years, right dave? >> that's correct. >> you had direct interaction with him prepping for the show and of course watching his performances? >> that's right. the thing about robin williams is he was always on. he was always performing. often when a comedian comes in, they won't go into their routine until they go on stage. not with robin williams. he was always putting on a show back stage. i began wondering what happens when there is no audience to there to react laugh? amuse people or give them a

good laugh was he warming up or why was he doing that? he was a guy who liked to please people. he liked to put on a show no matter hot audience was. i once brought my son and daughter they were back stage that was when the movie captain hook was out. he put on a show how are you able to fly in the movie tight pants and a little bit of magic. >> he was open about his struggles with substance on "the tonight show" i heard him a few times with jay talking about personal things, correct? >> yes. that's true. what was his view on it? >> you know, i have to tell you, bill, my overwhelming memory of robin is that he was really more about
