heather. the biggest concern is how will schools pay for the cost of educating all of these illegal immigrants. when you add it up it is staggering. d it will cost $171 million this school year. the biggest bill due in new york at $147 million. most of the 37,000 kids are from central america. they will be attending schools all over the country. mainly it's areas with large immigrant populations already. the state and local property taxes paid almost 90 percent of the costs to run the schools. >> we want to have compassion for illegal alien kids but let's not lose sight of the role of law and compassion for american students. >> school funding is always an issue. it got tougher with the recession. mra states are spending less per student than they did six years ago. harris county texas has to absorb nearly 3,000 of these

welcome back. thousands of fast food workers in more than 150 u.s. cities serving up massive protests today. wofl reporter live at an orlando burger king with what they are demanding. melissa? >> good morning. the fight for 15 scheduled for another strike. the difference is, this one's going to be nationwide. it extends across 150 cities,

including right here in orlando along i-drive. the burger king behind me that's the gathering spot for this strike. you can see a few workers are already out here, but it's not scheduled to begin until after 6:00 a.m. now this time they say they're going to escalate their movement where their nationwide mantra is doing whatever it takes, that includes peaceful protests and many say they're prepared to be arrested, to fight what they believe in, fight for what they believe in. there's no official estimate on the number of workers that are expected to participate, but the strike includes workers from mcdonald's, burger king, wendy's and kfc, among many other famous restaurants. the campaign started in new york city where you guys are back in november 2012. well with 200 workers. since then we've seen 7 million low wage workers report a raise in their pay. right now, this strike is also riding the wave of president obama's labor day speech. in it, he mentions the campaign. he even cites them as evidence america quote/unquote deserves a
