that's it for this edition of media buzz. we hope you like our facebook page. we are back here next sunday 11 and 5 eastern. hope you'll join us for the latest buzz. we start with a fox news alert. they are fleeing for their lives away from the rampaging terrorists of isis. that has sparked ferocious fighting we're told on the border between syria and turkey. an estimated 70,000 syrian kurds are attempting to escape. that number we're told in the last 24 hours. that is right now creating a new humanitarian drama and a welcome to "america's news headquarters." >> there are conflicting reports about what caused the fighting
9:01 am
at the border but it adds a dangerous element to the widening crises in the region. john hudy is live from your middle east bureau with more. >> reporter: arthel, you did a great job hitting the main points there. there's been a lot of fighting along the turkish/syrian border between kurdish forces and isis militants along with thousands of refugees flooding into turkey. really it's a tense and very fluid oltsituation. let me show you some of the video that we got in a little bit earlier. turkish police fired tear gas and water cannons at refugees trying to push their way across the border and kurdish fighters that as i said have been battling isis militants in syria and according to reports were trying to get back into turkey. but we're waiting for more details and information about that. so far -- and both of you touched on this -- in the past
9:02 am
24 hours more than 70,000 syrian refugees have flooded into turkey according to u.n. officials and now we're hearing that number may be growing as high as 100,000. as i said, it's very fluid. while turkey has provided humanitarian aid, allowing refugees in, the country$f has t been involved with any military action against isis. yesterday as we reported, 49 turkish consulate workers were released by isis militants and reunited with their family but how and why exactly they were released remains unclear. as for the fight against isis, united states hitting isis t= positions, including military locations and armored vehicles. really the question at this time remains when, exactly, the u.s. will hit isis positions in syria. this as the situation remains tense and fluid, as i said,
9:03 am
along the syrian and turkish border. >> indeed. john, thank you very much. eric is going to pick up from here. >> a new refugee crises, isis expanding. how can all this be stopped? it will be front and center at the united nations this week at the general assembly. former u.s. ambassador to the u.n. john bolton joins us now. he's a fox news contributor. ambassador, the president will speak this week. topic isis and islamic radical terrorism. what do you want him to say? >> well, this is an opportunity for the president to demonstrate that he has put together a really effective international coalition. so far and it's still relatively early, we've heard rhetoric but we haven't seen really palpable commitments being made. the convening of the general assembly, the bringing into new york of world leaders from the opportunity for diplomacy and for the president to be able to announce concrete manifestations of this coalition coming together.
9:04 am
so i think it's a forum for the president to be heard around the world around if he's really in a position to demonstrate he's put a coalition together, this is the time to make that point. >> you talk about manifestations, what do you want to hear and what do you think they could be? >> well, i'd like to hear more than simply, we don't like the existence of isis. i'd like to hear precise commitments, at least early news of what countries are going to join in actual air strikes. who's going to provide aid to the kurdish forces, the free syrian army, the kurds, sunnies in iraq, the iraq government, rather than political deck layer agsz that ultimately don't mean anything.góxc% the news you just heard under lines why this is so important because despite u.s. air strikes and more announced today by the u.s. central command, the isis forces continue to consolidate their control over the territory that they have and indeed seem
9:05 am
to be expanding if this news is accurate. >> the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff dempsey says the arab states need to step up and do more. so far only france has launched strikes with us. when the president looks out at the chamber and he sees saudi arabia, qatar, turkey, what do you expect they will do in return for what his call will be? >> i think the speech is important to send the signal that the president is really fully engaged but what's most important in this coming week at the u.n. is with all the world leaders, heads of state, foreign ministers and others there, it really is an opportunity for intense diplomacy to be able to get people's hard commitments to look foreign leaders in the eye and say we want you to be with us, this is the way george w. bush and secretary of state jim baker put together the anti-iraq coalition when iraq invaded
9:06 am
kuwait. you can't ignore the importance of these face-to-face meetings. if we come to the end of the week or the week after and still don't have much of an indication of a real coalition as opposed to flights of rhetoric, then i think it's time to be very concerned that we're not going to be effective in destroying isis. >> no one else is putting up troops. they're not talking about air strikes yet, the arabs have said they may do that. how do you +""ñ off funding. saudi arabia has promised 5,000. you have 50,000 or so isis members. it will take ten years to try to train that many. >> i think there are a lot of other problems. i would have voted for the aid to the syrian opposition. i would have gritted my teeth. i'm worrying that we're hearing even from the administration that the arms and training we're going to provide may allow the opposition to increase their efforts against the assad regime
9:07 am
and not against isis. i don't think we have adequate american leadership at this point. it may yet come and this week in new york as you say with the president speaking to the general assembly with dozens, perhaps scores of world leaders in the audience, this is the time to rally the coalition. if he blows this opportunity, i'm not sure it's coming back. >> speaking of the coalition, to be settled now and a potential agreement may be keeping 10,000 american troops. would that open the door potentially for a similar agreement in iraq? >> well, i think that possibility is there but the circumstances are very different. while i think this agreement in afghanistan that allows the two contenders for the presidency basically to share power, i think it's inherently unstable and we can keep our fingers crossed to make it work and to keep american forces in country but i'm very skeptical about it. given the president's often announced attitude that he wants ,t american.
9:08 am
>> ambassador, we'll see you this week in new york and we thank you so much for your insight as always. >> looking forward to it. >> we have new information on the suspect involved in friday night's brazen white house security breach. 42-year-old omar gonzalez reportedly served multiple tours of duty in iraq and made it to the doors of the north port co. he was charged with unlawful entry while in possession of a deadly or dangerous weapon in court yesterday. he faces up to ten years behind bars. yesterday another man was arrested for trying to enter the white house, this time the suspect initially approached the presidential residenarresreside and returned in a car driving up when he refused to leave, he was arrested and charged with

unlawful entry. right now that massive manhunt is intensifying in eastern pennsylvania where police are desperately trying to find the suspected gunman they say shot and killed a state trooper and severely injured another in that horrible ambush last week. investigators describe the prime suspect, this man, as eric frein. they say he is a self-taught survivalist with a major grudge against law enforcement and they call this attack a brazen attack against our government. of eric frein in pennsylvania with the latest. where does the search for him stand right now? >> reporter: good afternoon, eric. we were actually outside of the home of his parents, where he lived with his parents about a mile away but the police kicked us out about a half-hour ago because the search is still continuing. what we know is that this neighborhood, this area, was
9:10 am
specifically targeted by the police on thursday as a prime search area. on friday night, shots were fired here in pennsylvania. camouflaged men, armed men, s.w.a.t. teams, helicopters, search dogs have been here since then. there was a shelter in place order that was put in the price and barrett townships but they still don't have their guy. we learned last night that that shelter in place order in these two townships was listed at about 8:30. for the first time in many cases in over 24 hours. but police are still urging people to use extreme caution in this area. the search is still ongoing. if you looked at twitter over the last 24 hours, the atf tweeted a photo of their guys searching these dense woods here by the pocono mountains looking for their guy. they're wearing camouflage and holding their weapons and looking intently for eric frein. while we were in front of his
9:11 am
parents' home we noticed there were two officers that came out of that home holding his clothes as well as they had a blood hound with them so they're still obviously trying to get this p the scent. as of now, residents are allowed back into their homes in price and barrett township. they're being urged to use extreme caution and at the same time we've seen suvs and cops and heavily armed men go up and down this road so the search is still very much continuing. eric? >> brian, thanks for the latest. eric, thousands of firefighters continuing to battle the massive king fire in northern california. a historic drought there fueling the flames and making it harder to put them out. the fire has grown to more than 80,000 acres and is threatening nearly 12,000 homes. nerves from as far as florida traveling to help. today they say thunderstorms could help crews but it could

they're trying to triangulate where that message came from and maybe other pings from her cell phone. >> hopefully they can find that and thatt;qi÷ could be a good l the u.s. and our allies may be in the midst of fighting isis but now there are new reports of a terror cell in syria that could pose a more direct threat, a closer look at why some security experts are very concerned. and a grim day in kenya. mourners gathering to mark one year since the deadly terror attack at the westgate mall in the country's capital. well, did you know you that former pro football player ickey woods will celebrate almost anything? unh-uh. number 44... whoooo! forty-four, that's me! get some cold cuts... get some cold cuts... get some cold cuts! whooo! gimme some! geico. fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent or more on car insurance.

isis involves potential air strikes in syria. this coming as intelligence and law enforcement officials are reporting on another syrian-based group with ties to osama bin laden's inner circle that may pose a more direct threat to both the u.s. and our allies, then isis. weighing in is major general tim hake and former deputy commander of special operations command. general, good to see you this morning. >> good to see you. >> so much going on. let me get an overview of this. what more can you tell us about this group korasan. how long have they been around, are they strongly organized and supported and why are we just hearing about them now? >> it's a relatively new group but it's really an off shoot of al qaeda. it's leader was a close confidante of osama bin laden.
9:24 am
when things got hot in afghanistan he fled to iran, was there for quite a while supposedly under house arrest. then about a year ago he showed up over in syria, as you indicated, and with this new group. the thing that's particularly worrisome about them is their doctrine. they want to bring the fight to the infidel, the crusaders to the west right now, whereas isis wants to set up its own state, have people come there and attack saudi arabia, iran, rome and then finally fight the crusaders. in terms of immediate threats i would say khorasan and one last point, they have probably the most talented bomb maker. also sent his own brother with a
