it cannot destroy isis. air power is never captured terrain or enemy combatant or freed a hostage. that declares boots on the ground and there are none today. >> two hours from now the president ready to set the general assembly. david lee miller is live with what we can expect today. day david lee? >> this is going to be president obama's 6th address before the united nations general assembly. he is expected to make the case with the u.s. air strikes targeting the islamic state. the president is likely to talk at length about the partnership with arab countries in this effort. the president is expected to parallel the broad coalition with efforts to combat ebola and end the crisis in the ukraine using international coalition.

yesterday the president met with some of the arab partners in the effort a few blocks from the united nations. he talked at length about the threat poseed by isis. here's what he had to say. >> we have the opportunity to send a clear message the world is united, that all of us are committed to making sure that we degrade and ultimately destroy not only isil but also the kinds of extremist ideologies that would lead to so much bloodshed. >> later in the day the president will tear a session of the u.n. security council. at that time it is likely he is going to call for passage of a resolution that would restrict the recruitment and the transport of isis fighters, but ainsley, even if that resolution were to pass the devil always in the detail not entirely clear how it's going to be successfully implemented. thank you david lee miller live at the u.n. for us. >> new overnight charges in the

disappearance of uva student hannah graham. jesse matthews now a wanted man. >> heather, good morning to you. at this hour police are looking for that man jessie matthew. i say charged with the abduction of hannah graham. he left the police stigs with his mother and uncle to ask for a lawyer. after speaking to the lawyer matthew got into a car and began driving away at a high rate of speed. prompting police to issue a charge of reckless driving. they also searched matthew's apartment and car looking for new clues that. they removed several articles of clothing from the apartment some residents from the neighborhood are shocked. >> horrified, that's all i can say. i was shell shocked. >> he was real sweet when i talked to him thursday night.

they have new bomb technology to take out aircrafts that could take out current security. >> we know khorasan was planning attacks against europe or u.s. home land. we also know they were close to the end game on those planning efforts. they were getting close to execution of an actual attack. >> air strike may have taken a toll on isis and khorasan they are talking about the possibility that the air strikes could also embolden lone wolf style attacks at home. there are still lingering questions about whether air strikes will be enough. >> we can degrade them. we can hurt them dramatically and set them back but you can't defeat them. they are an army an insurgency not just a terror group. they have to be defeated by someone on the ground.

government time to gather the forces and regroup. there's one group the syrian national coalition that said any effort other than helping syrians over throw assad will only fuel extremism. u.s. off fiicials have stressed they did yesterday that the u.s. is not cooperating with syrian's government. >> our u.n. ambassador, the assad regime was notified of our intent to conduct air strikes in syria. there was no deep level communication about that. from a military perspective had no plans to coordinate our activities with the assad regime. >> okay, so on one hand assad's government is some what benefitting from the u.s. led air strikes. but on the other hand, remember the u.s. is supporting those rebel factions, those rebel forces that are fighting and
