we will you back in an hour. "outnumbered" starts now. fox news alert. i am harris faulkner and the first patient diagnosed with ebola in the united states has died. his condition was declining, doctors tried experimental ebola drugs and eric duncan was admitted to the hospital on september 28th and the news is breaking that he is dead. casey is live in dallas. a statement coming from the mayor there. >> reporter: yeah, harris, the mayor is talking and the hospital is talking, a lot of people are. i want to talk to you about the timeline first of all. this is crucial.

according to the world health organization, someone has the ability of dying from ebola 6-16 days after they first start showing symptoms. today would have been day 14 that thomas duncan first started showing the symptoms and that is within the timeline from the world health organization. the other big number we need to keep in mind and that is 21 day and that is the maximum period of incubation. thomas duncan's family members and other members of the dallas and north texas community had been exposed to him after he started showing symptoms and that is why they are being monitored. four members of his family who had been staying in an apartment complex, a tiny apartment with thomas duncan when he first

started showing symptoms, are still in quarantine and the end of that will be on october 15th. this community is anxiously awaiting for the clock to tick down in terms of if anyone else here is going to show any symptoms or if mr. duncan himself was the only one with ebola here in texas. so, again, let's get to the statements because we have reactions coming in from all over. david laky is the commission for texas state health services and released this statement reading in part the past week has been an enormous test of our health care system but for one family it has been more personal and they lost a dear member of their family and we are keeping them in our thoughts. the doctors, nurses and staff provided compassionate care but
