frontier airlines is in the process of notifying 130 passengers who were on the flight with the texas nurse the night before she fell ill. and emergency crews are examining and sanitizing the apartment in the dallas area. the frontier airline's flight flew from cleveland to dallas and that is the latest health care worker to get ebola who cared for thomas duncan last week. we'll get the latest from lisa who is following the story from texas presbyterian hospital. what do we know about the newest case and who was the person that was the nurse there? >> hi, heather. we received an update from dallas county and city officials and the doctor from the hospital here. a young woman, a health care worker who developed a fever yesterday late and was in
10:03 am
isolation within 90 minutes and this is video of the apartment complex where she lived and he also worked with thomas duncan, the index patient who died of ebola last week. the hospital is actively monitoring 75 other health care workers who came in contact with duncan. so far they have not showed signs of infection, the mayor of dallas said that things will get worse before they get better. and we should expect more cases, heather? >> the health care workers are told to self monitor and report in if they get symptoms and can you tell us about the traveling the patient did before she returned to dallas and came down with the symptoms? >> reporter: this is a great concern to a few people. it is a frontier airline's flight that she travelled on cvc on monday evening from cleveland to dallas.
10:04 am
and now, frontier airlines is reaching out as well as the cvc to all 132 passengers on that frontier airline flight, flight 1143, cleveland to dallas- fort worth on october 13th. they need to speak with all of the passengers and interview them to make sure they are doing self monitoring themselves. what they want people to know, according to people on the flight, the flight attendant there, the health care worker who is now an ebola patient did not showed signs of illness on the flight, heather. >> no signs of illness on the flight and just the next morning went to the hospital sick and that is the key point there. and a listia thank you and we'll check in with you later. just in president obama cancelling travel plans later today to stay at the white house and address the ebola crisis. he was scheduled to head for new

jersey and then connecticut for a campaign and fund-raising swing. instead, the president is calling his cabinet together to coordinate a national response to the ebola outbreak. and what does this is an about the political fallout of ebola and how it is it handled in this country. larry is in the university of vurj virj. this president was eager to get on the campaign fund-raising bandwagon. and he flew out to los angeles on the morning before the benghazi attacks for instance to raise money for the recent presidential campaign and today deciding to stay in the white house. what does it say to you? >> that there is a learning curve in the white house and they decided he shouldn't be on the campaign trial or in fund-raising events or on the golf course probably while people are deeply concerned about ebola and probably isis,
10:06 am
too. there is a sense of crisis and people expect the president to deal with national crisis like these. >> when you look around the world, there are crisis to go around and they seem to be getting worse. russia gobbling up crimea and the riots in hong kong and the shoot down of the malaysian plane a few weeks ago. isis rampaging through the middle east and now ebola. voters it seems are a little uneasy about all of this and all of the sudden, foreign affairs are taking a prominent role than usual in voter's minds as we approach the mid- term elections? >> john, that is correct. first of all, you can see it in the famous polling question. is the country on the wrong track? is it seriously off on the wrong track and we are up two-thirds of americans saying that the country is seriously off on the
10:07 am
wrong track and foreign policy has finally started to move up again on the list of voter concerns. you know the last 5 or 6 years it has virtually disappeared in the polls, often at one percent as the issue that people are most concerned about. i suspect the next round of polls will show that it is considerably higher than that. >> and we'll look at what gallup found. it shoes the economy tops the list followed by jobs and the way the federal government works and then terrorist in iraq and in syria. republicans apparently enjoy the advantage on this issue. 13 percent advantage for republicans on foreign affairs in general. is it something that we are going to hear more about in 20 days up to the election, larry? >> i am sure it will be. it is all in the republican
10:08 am
television ads that republicans are airing. and historically, as we go back. the republican advantage to foreign policy started in the trumman administration and only a few exceptions, republicans are seen as more competent to deal with foreign policy and foreign wars and the like. and so it is an revival of an old trend in american politics. >> this is interesting, this president was swept in office because he accused the republican predecessor of being too involved in the world and too ready to go to war and so forth. he spent most of his administration trying to undo what george bush has done and it seems to be flying in the face of what voters are saying what they want and concerned about? >> times change and circumstances change and what the voters want changes and obviously when obama was elected people wanted out of iraq and wind down the afghanistan war.
10:09 am
well, obama has essentially done both of those. but it now turns out. people are wondering whether we withdrew too quickly and completely. and the worm always turns if you get it enough time. 13 percent advantage for republicans and 19 percent advantage in that gall up poll when it comes to handles isis. larry sa bnow, thank you. >> and a good way to put it worm, and politics, right. new air strikes taking place in syria and targeting the isis forces. the bombs slowing the terrorist groups advance but half of the town is under the isis control and kurdish people are asking for help from turkey and the united states. gregg is near the syrian border, hi, there, gregg?

>> reporter: hello, healther, the u.s. coalition let down air strikeon kobani and 18 new strikes, most of them overnight. and later today, it got noisy again. take a look at what we saw and heard. >> a triple u.s. air strike in kobani. isis terrorist fighting with the kurdish defenders and it is mostly a quiet day. isis terrorist are hunkering down after a massage barage of jet strikes yesterday and now, however, the u.s. has come out striking where they have been fighting right in the center of town and looking for an opportunity to try to keep the terrorist in check as they try to move across the town. >> they are precision strikes as well and more proof that the u.s. is closely coordinating the rounds with the kurdish

said no one has been hurt. new air strikes in iraq and syria. american air is trying to stop kobani. and so far there are 510 strikes in total in syria and iraq yet the terror army is making gains on multiple fronts. we'll talk to captain chuck nash. when you compare that to what we used against the taliban. that was like 17000 in less than three months. are we really in this to win it or is this just show? >> a think part of it is that we don't have the same type of people on the ground that we had earlier when we went after the taliban. we had u.s. forces on the ground with the proper equipment to provide the gps targets.
10:26 am
and we had a ground force and northern a liiance up against the taliban and forcing the taliban in defensive positions so the air power could be effectively deployed and we rolled in on them and turned it into a steel umbrella. this is different. you have forces that are dispersed and out there because they don't have a consistent ground force and that is harder to target. >> how do we target them if we are not willing to put people on the ground to do it. >> that is the issue. everybody who has looked at this. you can't win without a ground force. you can't do. it unless you want to give them the nuclear flash of freedom and turn it in to a park approximating lot, that is a ridiculous thing. and you go the other way. put in a ground force of some kind and recruit that ground force and the strategy is
10:27 am
failing because the ground forces supposed to be free syrian army folks who assad is rolling on because we are taking care of the isis thing. and assad is pounding the people that we hope will come in a year from now if and when they get trained. and this is a mess. >> certainly, you look at towns that are familiar to you and me. we both covered the war in iraq when it started and all of that and then you hear about the air base that could be overrun by isis. can air strikes alone. and another base taken over is too far. >> once you get in major defense that iraqis hold. however we say boots on the ground. americans on the ground. there are americans on the ground and that part of it is going to be taken care of. once you get in kobani and you
10:28 am
shift in to syria, you are using some of our arab coalition forces as well as the american forces but in iraq it is it u.s. only because the iraqi government will not let a rack allies in there is bomb because they are sunni and the iraqi government is predominantly shiit. this thing gets more complex and not a good story. >> what a tangled web it s. captain chuck nash we'll have to continue it. but thank you for coming in today. >> you bet, heather. the number of people at risk of ebola confirm after officials confirm that the second ebola patient flew frontier airlines just the night before coming down with the symptoms and a terrifying threat in a casinno after a man starts stabbing

after the information on frontier airplane and a person infected with ebola actually rode in a flight before she came down with the symptoms. we'll watch the markets and how they respond to this news and other news and keep you updated throughout the day. the centers for disease control is wrapping up the news conference on the two health care workers infected with ebola. we'll go for the latest with john. >> reporter: hi, well, we just learned that the second health care worker will be transferred from the hospital in dallas where she is currently undergoing treatment and brought to emory university. one of four institutions in the country that have special biocontainment units for highly infectious diseases. emory is bordering on the campus of the cvc and where i am now
10:34 am
and the new's conference wrapped up. the second health care worker infected with ebola, believed to be a low risk while traveling, cvc officials say she should no on october 13th. and out of an abundance of caution they are notifying passengers on board the flight in question. it is frontier 1143 from cleveland, ohio to dallas, fort worth. the plane landed at 8:16 p.m. central time that evening. the health care worker didn't have outward symptoms in the flight. but when she took her temperature that day, it was a slight fever of 99.5. not high enough that it would raise an alert for ebola. but because of a fellow health care worker had become sick with ebola, she was part of a group
10:35 am
that should have been under going active monitoring and she should not have gotten on the flight. and so because of the short period of time between that flight where she had no outward symptoms and when she checked in the hospital around midnight or 1 o'clock a.m. complaining of a low grade fever, the cvc is asking all 132 passengers on board flight 3743 on october 13th to call the cvc information line. 800- cvc- info. 800- 232- 4646. back to you. >> thank you, johnathon and for more on this dr. william shafener. folks say on the second patient
10:36 am
who we now know before she was showing symptoms or as johnathon said maybe the slightest symptoms and a slightly elevated fever, she jumps on a frontier airline flight and flies from cleveland to dallas. we are told that if you are not showing symptoms, you are not contagious. but she was carrying the virus. what are passengers on the flight supposed to think? >> i wouldn't be worried. she was not symptom attic and no one had contact with the blood or body fluids. all of those folks are are going to be fine and treat their anxiety and follow them carefully and monitor them, but they will be all right. >> that is good news, but there are so many holes in the whole ebola story and the fact that thomas duncan lied to immigration officials and say that he was not around ebola
10:37 am
victims when he in fact and brings it to the country and a couple of nurses get sick and people supposed to take all of the precaution. it raises unease. >> i understand that there is unease and there is a large epidemic of anxiety much larger than the number of patients with ebola. but the community aspect is done by the book, and all of the individuals who had contact with mr. cun duncan in the hospital before he was admitted, in the emergency room i should say or in the community are doing well and they are monitored and they are close to the end of the monitoring people. that ought to give us comfort. there were mange glitches in the hospital. and -- frankly we are surprised by. that but the cvc said an ebola
10:38 am
patient breaks out they will send out a swat team to work with the hospital and folks. >> the original victim thomas duncan complained of all of the symptoms in a hospital room. and they gave him antibiotics who sent him home. who knows how many were exposed in the emergency room. those people once again. calm it down a bit. no contact with body fluids and so their risk if any must be minuscule. and so this is the not a virus that is easy to get like the flu. i think we need to focus on how you do get it and how you don't. that is more important. >> the flu, for instance can be transmitted through a sneeze and inhaling air-borne particles. you are saying that is not the
10:39 am
case here? >> that is not the way ebola is transmitted. you need contact with the sick person's bodily fluids. that is the way it is transmitted in the congresso and west africa and unfortunately in the hospital, that's the way it was transmitted here. same old virus transmitted in the same old way. >> in that new's conference, the teleconference from the cvc, thomas frieden is quoted as saying that the second nurse identified as having the virus, should not have travelled on the airline flight. well, again, i said earlier, that there is a lot of closing the barn door after the horses are out. she seemed to be okay, can you lay the blame at the feet of the nurse for having gotten on the plane? >> we don't know what the nurse was instructed to do and not do, and so we'll wait and see about
10:40 am
that. >> but you are urging calm? and a lack of panic here? >> oh, please a lack of panic and calm it down. i assure you it will not be widespread ebola in the united states. that is not going to happen. and with the new attention to what happened in dallas, every hospital in the country, i would assume is redoubling their ebola training efforts. well, again, the hospital up to this point haven't gotten it totally right. hope that redoubling the efforts is going to help. doctor, thank you for being with us. >> good to be with you. right now, one man killed and several others injured after a frightening incident took place. in a bus that was heading to a casino. he started to stab the passengers on board after they are traveling on an interstate.
10:41 am
the driver had to pull over and flag down a state trooper and the suspect was shot by the trooper when he would not put down the weapon. >> the bus left new york china town and heading to the connecticut to the mohiggan sun casino. a man started to stab fellow passengers and targeting in particular one man and woman and apparently cutting himself. and several passengers called 911. and the driver hailed for his action pulled in a construction zone where he knew a trooper was stationed. >> it was an aggressive situation where people were physically harmed and he needed to get the attention of the trooper. and he noticed the trooper at the location and pulled over the bus. >> the suspect and one of the other passengers fighting and
10:42 am
fell out of the bus. and the trooper ordered the suspect to drop the box knife and he refused. he began to move toward the trooper and the trooper opened fire fatally injuring the attacker. and one bullet ricochetted off of the pavement and wounded a passenger who is in stable condition. another passenger slashed by the attacker is treated and released. what is unknown at this time is the motive for the bizarre attack. >> new developments in a terrible, pardon me, high school football hazing case. why several teenage player ares could be tried as adults and an epic soccer brawl. featuring the player ares and the fans and you will not believe what set the whole thing off. y bank really has no hidden fees on savings accounts? that's right. it's just that i'm worried about you know "hidden things..."

>> hi, everyone. i am gretchen carlsson. national federation of nurses will speak out over whether or not nurses in this country are ready for ebola and given the correct training. let me tell you, they are very concerned and the news that the second ebola victim flew on the airplane. are the passengers are in danger or can anyone who flew on the plane after that. and megyn mccain is sick and tired of hearing about the war on women in the top of the hour. several new jersey high school football players make the appearance in court. they are accused of sexually abusing younger teammates. it is a ritual called hazing and some say worse than that. there decision of whether to charge them as adult.
10:47 am
>> thank you for joining us. this is a very good team. they won three of the last four championships, what is going on when a team allows this kind of behavior to take place? >> what we do know, is that there is a culture of this in sports, particularly male sports. there is an idea that you have to prove you belong and along with that is bullying and hazing. we have to teach young men especially that you don't have to put yourself in harm's way and you don't have to harm someone else in order to fit in. >> but this case is really taking it to a new level. we are talking about a form of rape of these young men on the football team and where on earth did they come up with that? that is not happening in pro sports that we know of. >> that we know of. but my guess behind closed doors and locker room behaviors are
10:48 am
happening like this. this is a part of sports culture and male cult and you are we have to send a message that it is wrong and the young men need to be held accountable. >> the partners, some of them are devastated that the football program was cancelled for the year, not so much caring about what happened to the victims. what would you say to those parents? >> who cares what those parents think. they are unfortunately part of the problem. >> but parents are watching that children play sports what do you want to say to those parents about their children and participation in sports. >> in the beginning and end of the day. it is a sport. sports should not be about kids getting hurt or harm's way. when they do that they should be consequences. they could cancel the football program forever. the priority of school is learning. and you make the school unsafe
10:49 am
by what happens in the athletic programs something needs to happen. and cancelling the football program for one year is the least they could do. >> perpetrators are 15- 17 years old and debate over whether they will be charged as juveniles and adults. you say charging them as adults is wrong. >> i am an educational psychologist. i am in the business of educating. and throwing them in adult prison doesn't work. they wind up going back out in society and committing crimes and learning how to become better criminals and doesn't impact the crime rate. if you can show me locking people up and throwing them in adult prison and teach them not in a negative way and repeat the behaviors, i will support it, but you can't do it. >> they are so heinous and
10:50 am
aggravated, they will likely the not ever recover from this in their life. some of them are 17 years old. >> i am not in the business of locking kids talking about why it's wrong and an warns around it to prevent it. locking kids up, trying them as an adult, as i said before, does nothing to teach them to change their behavior. the recidivism rates are so high. we're throwing away billions. if can you show me that it works, i'll support it, but you can't. >> if the victims were young women and not young men, i wonder if we would be looking at this case very differently. thank you so much for joining us and for your expertise.
