and mike huckabee. caution. you are about to enter the no spin zone, the factor begins right now. hi, i'm bill o'reilly. thanks for watching us tonight. the democrats get their butts kicked. that is the subject of this evening's talking points memo. and you know he what? you know what? they earned the thrashing. the democratic party led by president obama has failed to lift the american economy, has not provided enough protections for the american people. the democratic leader in the senate, harry reid, blocked most meaningful reform bills, allowing bad policies to continue. and the american people know it. about 65% of voters yesterday told exit pollers, the country is going in the wrong direction. so there is no debate. that's why the republicans have now assumed power in america. this afternoon, president
8:02 pm
obama reacted to that reality. >> i haven't heard you say a specific thing during this news conference that you would do differently. have you been asked it a few different ways. >> ed, what i would like to do is to hear from the republicans, to find out what it is that they would like to see happen. >> sure. fine. when all the dust settles, it will likely be 54 republican senators, 44 democratic senators, two independents, that vote democrat. on the governor front, looks to be 31 republicans, 18 democrats, one independent. and in the house it looks to be 2 had 44 for the g.o.p., 179 for the democrats. around there. so you can see that the republican party is now in a position to make things happen. and tomorrow talking points will suggest exactly what republicans must do to win the folks over. but this evening is worth discussing exactly why president obama took it on the chin. first of all his economic policies have not worked. take home pay for most
8:03 pm
working americans has dropped on his watch. that is the only important economic indicator for the folks. many americans don't have enough money to fulfill their obligations. and the reason is, mr. obama wants the feds to run the economy, even today, after the republican landslide, the liberal "new york times" is screaming that the government has to, quote: create jobs. moronic. the private sector creates jobs. and when jobs are are plentiful, salaries go up because there is competition for the individual worker. and then there is president obama's style. you simply do not play golf after announcing that an american has been beheaded by isis terrorists. that is inaappropriate. and the american people took notice. also, when there is a threat of an epidemic, ebola, you, the president, take quick decisive action. you do not allow the centers for disease control to confuse everybody.
8:04 pm
and that's exactly what happened. by the way, i'm still looking for dr. thomas frieden. anybody seen him? finally, you do not -- do not play the race card. >> i believe and i firmly believe this, if we did not have an african-american president in the white house as we speak right now, mary landrieu would not be in trouble. kay hagan would not be in any kind of trouble. >> elements of the far left are addicted to the race excuse. it's offensive and it has harmed the image of the obama administration. exit polling yesterday says that american voters are most concerned about the economy and they should be. on his watch president obama is desperately trying to redistribute income. and in the process is creating a welfare state in america. that welfare state is unsustainable. and can you see that in the national debt. which will, most likely be, more than $20 trillion once president obama leaves office.
8:05 pm
add it all up, and you have the vote last night and that's the memo. now for the top story tonight, reaction. joining us from dallas, media star glenn beck, author of the brand new book "dreamers and deceivers, true stories of the heroes and villains who made america." where am i going wrong here, beck. >> you're exactly right. i'm glad somebody is finally saying it, bill. you know, harry riferred reid said what he takes out of this is that the american people want congress to work together and the republicans and democrats. and i will give him the benefit of the doubt that what he really meant is americans would like us all to stop dividing ourselves into race, into class, into gender, into specialty groups and all work together. we are all americans, all of us. and i think everybody is tired of being divided. >> who is pedaling that division though? who is saying every two minutes that because you criticize president obama it's race? and who is saying every two minutes, there is a war on
8:06 pm
women, that the country wants to take rights away from women and not pay them enough? who is saying all of that? who is doing all of that? >> here's the thing. it's not being accepted by the american people anymore. they know. >> doesn't harry reid have the nerve to bring that up when it's harry reid and his acolytes who are putting it out there? it's outrageous. >> well, i think the other thing that you are right about, bill, is the economy and what people aren't talking about yet is gas pres have gone down. that's a really good thing for americans. however, when it goes -- when the price of a barrel of oil goes to $77 and below, a sustained price of 7 a dollars a barrel is not good for russia and saudi arabia. they will begin to do whatever they have to do to raise the price of oil, which leads me to believe that we will will have more strife in the middle east. we have more problems all around the world. because the price of oil is going down. they have set their economies up no lower than $77 a barrel. they start to have problems of instability.
8:07 pm
>> well, beck, we don't want to speculate. obviously the oil prices going down, that's temporary. that's good. but they will go up if iran does something. if isis does something. and that's the way of the world. >> right. >> now, when you are sitting at home in your mansion there in the north of texas, all right? and you are in your fred mcmurray sweatedder last night. i assume you wear that everywhere you go with the little emblem on there. sitting in there with your pipe and fred mcmurray sweater and watching the returns roll in, what are you saying to yourself? are you cheering? is it good to you? do you feel vindicated? what's the feeling. >> my feeling is that the president is disconnected from the american people entirely. you saw that there was no humility in his press conference today. and he is also disconnected from the democrats. hillary clinton has already separated herself, so she is now going to play the moderate. he announced yesterday, i mean, when the election was still going on, that's usually when the president

is quiet. he came out yesterday and said that by christmas he will have his executive order on illegal immigration. i think this president, and i hope this is not true, but i think this president is going to go more radical. he doesn't have anything to lose. is he is going to super serve the uber left. and the republicans are not prepared for this. they are playing politics circa 1975. and they are not going to be prepared for it. and i think that we have a very bad scenario headed our way because somebody -- the democrats won't be blamed on it because they will say we didn't have anything to do with it. you know what? we are not as extreme as he is. somebody is going to be able to play the middle ground between the evil republicans and this president. and i think it could get ugly. i think we are in the most dangerous period now than the republic has been in since the civil war. from now until probably spring of 2017. >> here is -- i thought about this immigration

personal story segment tonight. according to real clear politics, fox news guy mike huckabee, former governor of arkansas is very competitive
8:22 pm
in the presidential sweep states. mr. huckabee joins us now from the santa rosa beach in the imagined of florida. if you do decide to run for president one of your rivals is going to be senator rand paul who last night was in campaign mode when analyzing the election returns. >> i think it is a repudiation basically of the president's policies but also hillary clinton. hillary clinton and bill clinton have been all over the place. they are trying to make it out as if they are somehow better for democrats. in kentucky they were soundly rejected. >> all right, so what say you, governor? >> i think rand paul is exactly right, bill. the clintons couldn't help this democratic party, and, particularly in states where the margin was supposed to be much closer, kentucky, iowa, arkansas, georgia, everybody was predicting razor tight elections. they were blowouts. hillary clinton and bill clinton spent a lot of time in those states.
8:23 pm
they couldn't pull a rabbit out of the hat. they couldn't pull a vote out of the cemetery in this case and as a result the democrats took a she lacking last night. >> many pundits on both sides, both conservatives and liberals say the vote wasn't for republicans. it was against mr. obama and the democrats. do you concur? >> painfully, i absolutely do. and i will tell you why. bill, the republicans made one big mistake. they didn't really lay anything out there and say, you give us a chance and here's what we're going to do. they should have put some things on the table, like term limits for members of congress. like saying we are going to put keystone in front of the president. talking about the fact that we'll have a balanced budget amendment in front of the president. and if we don't balance the budget, congress will take a pay cut. things that americans could put their teeth into. now, what americans did last night was repudiate the barack obama policies. he even admitted that his policies were on the ballot. well, now he knows how america feels about them. >> he doesn't really care,
8:24 pm
the president. he is an idealogue. i think you would agree with that. >> oh, yeah. >> he is not going to stop redistributing income. or he is not going to cut back obamacare, which has hurt job creation in this country as they cut back the 40 hour workweek to get under the radar there. but the president is not going to do any of that. but, here's the deal. here is what is. and beck alluded to it. if the president pushes immigration reform, and it looks like he will, based on his press conference today, republicans are going to have to put up something. all right? they are going to have to put up this is our immigration reform bill. it's what we, the grand ole party believes is fair. you have got to split there between the hard right and weren't really anything and the moderate wing of the republican party, which says yeah, we understand a lot of people here have to be treated humanely, i think that's president obama and the democrat strategy going forward is to divide the republican party along immigration lines. would i be wrong?
8:25 pm
>> no, i think they will try to do that but, here's the big difference. republicans now, by controlling both houses, they can actually put a bill in front of the president. something they couldn't do before. there are 360 pieces of legislation on harry reid's desk. he created what i call the roach motel of legislation. bills went in but they never came out. >> that's right. >> they never lost his office. >> bad guy. >> as a result, they protected obama from ever having to take a stand. now that republicans have the senate. whether obama likes it or not, that legislation goes to him and let him go before the american public and defend why he is going to veto pieces of legislation that will fix the pieces of obamacare or repeal it all together. why they won't. >> you are assuming that the republicans in power now are all going to be together on this. i'm not so sure that that's the case. you know, that they are going to, okay, guys, let's get in the room and we will work out a real good comprehensive immigration reform bill, it's going to secure the border.
8:26 pm
it's going to treat people humanely and we will get it together and we will present it. i'm not sure the republicans are capable of doing that. with all of the divings between the hard right and the moderates. >> well, if they want to blow their chances for 2016, that's the quickest pathway to do it. they can govern and lead, then they will find a way to come together. they are going to understand no one gets everything they want, bill. that's the way that government works. you don't win it all the time. you have got to be able to let the other guy get something. republicans have to get that and get it quickly. >> you must be happy because you, rand paul, and jeb bush are all about 11% in the real clear political who republicans would like to see run. that's taking mitt romney out of the equation. if romney gets in, then he becomes the favorite. so, you know, it looks to me like you have a decent shot if you want to go to be president. >> well, i think it's quite a ways away to make that
8:27 pm
decision, but, you know, it's kind of comforting to know that at least there are 11% of the people that would like it. i'm just wondering what's the heck is the wrong with the other 89% right now. that's what i have got to figure out. >> heard you play guitar the other 89%. do that. be a little troubadour. it's not early. you have got to go out and raise your $1 billion, governor. if you are going to run. >> you are going to make the first contribution. >> i can't contribute. you know i can't do that. if you do decide to run, you have got to announce it here on the factor, you understand that right? >> okay. we'll talk about that bill. >> okay. if you don't announce it it, i have to come to your house and nobody wants that. >> all right. >> no, they don't. >> the election coverage last night seen by millions across the country and some of you guys are mad as hell. we'll read you letters. and miller and krauthammer both have thoughts about what happened in the vote. we hope you stay tuned to those reports.

back of the book segment last night. with the democrats getting she lacked last night. big change is in the air. the president remains detached. >> but the principles that we're fighting for, the things that motivate me every single day and motivate my staff every day, those things aren't going to change. there is going to be a consistent focus on how do we deliver more opportunity to more people in this country. how do we grow the economy faster. how do we put more people back to work. >> joining us now from washington, charles krauthammer, author of the huge best seller, things that matter. i don't think the president has learned anything or even cares to learn anything. i think he is saying i'm going to go out guns blazing. i'm going to redistributionist guy. that's my legacy and that's what i'm going to do. am i wrong. >> you are absolutely right. is he a strange combination of obliviousness and recklessness. it's as if he doesn't know what happens. i think he probably does. but he spent an hour and 13
8:49 pm
minutes pretending he didn't. that this was some kind of referendum on does washington work. i mean, you know, you are going to pretend anti-incumbenciy election. when all of the democratic incumbents wiped out on republican incumbents survive? he pretends it's not that. but he is going to be reckless. i think he also is so sort of self-involved and he hates being sidelined. he hates what the democrats did to him over the last year. making him irrelevant. now he is going to sort of get his revenge on everybody. by doing a reckless thing, which is to legalize millions of illegal aliens. i would say unconstitutionally. in a way that he knows is going to create a crisis. but what will it do? it puts him back in the limelight. puts him in the spotlight. it makes him the issue. what are we talking about tonight? we're not talking about one. most important elections in 20 years. we're talking about him. that's what he wants. >> let me just point out
8:50 pm
what i pointed out earlier in the program that he did say in this press conference that he was going to listen to what the republicans had to say on immigration. going to consider what they have to they have to say, and i agree with you. if he signs an executive order legalizing millions of illegals, i think he's going to be impeached. i think it's just going to come down -- because the republicans cannot sit for that. they can't. >> i wouldn't impeach him, but that's a political point. i think it will be exactly what he wants. it would set up a new dynamic. you talk about nothing else between now and then. this is a time for republicans to be very disciplined. they won the election last night because they were disciplined. they stayed on message. they made a referendum on obama. and they won. what they have to do now is to go from being the party of no to being a party with an agenda. now, the only other time that's happened in a midterm was in the contract with america which was
8:51 pm
written in advance of the election. that's very rare. but now they have an opportunity to go from the party of no to a party that tells the country in advance of the 2016 elections this is what we want to do. and they should have a program ready to go like in '94. you pass a bill every week for ten weeks. >> absolutely. >> and you make the country see that you are ready. and you are radically different from this president. >> and tomorrow on my talking points i'm going to lay out very specifically what some of those things should be. however, i have to get back to this. if president obama signs an executive order to legalize undocumented people in this country, the republicans have to do something. they have to respond. the folks who elected them are going to expect a response. they can't just say we think it's bad. something has to happen. >> all right. but here's what i think you should do. you should be very smart and
8:52 pm
disciplined. the prize here is not the impeachment of obama and curtailing his term by three months. the prize is winning the white house in 2016 and changing the country. now, the way to do it is you say this is unconstitutional, illegal. we are going to find every way we can to make sure that it is not funded, that this does not get a penny of the purse. it is illegal to enact anything by executive order unless you get some appropriation from the congress. that's number one. number two, you say on the day of the swearing in in 2017 if we win the white house this is an executive order and it lives only as long as the next president does not cancel it. it will be canceled with the stroke of a pen. and then you say we're going to look and hope that we can encourage private legal challenges to this action because the supreme court, the courts won't take a case if it comes out of congress. but that's what you do. you don't go for the bait.
8:53 pm
we know what happened with the clinton impeachment. it cost the republicans the '98 election. it would be absolutely what obama wants. >> all right. >> and then -- >> you think he's going to provoke that kind of a crisis in this country? you believe that barack obama's going to provoke that? >> look, the way he spoke today at the press conference, he looked absolutely determined to do it. this is a man seething with anger over what's happened. this is a man who thinks he's been betrayed by the country. the way he portrayed it in the press conference as if he's been trying to drill his ideas into the population and i don't really get it. in the condescending with which he -- if he gets crush in an election, he says, hey, i can't read the tea leaves. so he knows what's going on. he wants to be relevant. >> charles, thanks as always. ms. megyn is next. i am bill o'reilly. please always remember that spin stops here. we're definitely looking out for you. less than 24 hours after the president saw his party routed in one of the worst midterms in 50 years, today he walked to the podium with a message for americans across the country. he's not changing a thing. welcome to "the kelly file" everyone. i'm megyn kelly. despite a decisive defeat for the president's party and what critics are calling a repudiation of his policies, president obama today held a lengthy news conference essentially saying he'll be sticking to his positions and his policies. and then in a dramatic challenge to the new congress he issued an ultimatum, either pass immigration reform in the next six weeks or he will use executive orders in an attempt to rewrite the law. here's more of the president's reaction to what one democratic
