fix the economy. immigration reform far down the list of priorities for most of the folks. transfer there is a pure political play on the part of obama. is he trying to deflect attention away from the economic record and into the conservative vs. liberal battle. talking points believes this is wrong. again, not good for the country. however, do i believe some right wing hardliners are wrong as well. injecting the fair treatment for illegal aliens. there is no question the border has to be secured before any concessions are granted. but if the republican congress passes legislation that seals the southern border, then humane action should be taken within the u.s.a. the biggest reason for that, is the u.s. government has been complicit in allowing people to cross the border illegally. president reagan on, washington knew what was happening and did notoki4euu it. that's because business makes money from illegal

immigration. so, with the u.s.>(] government at fault, it should now try to right some wrongs seal the borderçq people living here illegally. that's the border. top story tonight from]ibdñ theview. i karl rove, what's going wrong#t(gç here, mr. rove. >> i'm generally in agreement with what you have to say. step back for a minute though and think about what the president is saying here. the president saying unless the house of represents acts in a matter of weeks, i'm going to take this executive action. think about what this means. either he is asking them to pass the senate bill. that's one option. pass the senate bill, take it up and pass it as is. that's not how washington works. the houseis and senate on almost every piece of legislation come at it from slightly different ways and there is a process by which those differences are then discussed and negotiated between the two bodies. the house passes the bill. the senate passes the bill and goes to congress committee. it takes months to negotiate

out the end of that so the president is by simply, if what he is saying is you have got to take up the senate bill and pass it with no changes, his completely ignorant of how washington works. the other thing is, you said take a couple of weeks. think about this. we have essentially five work weeks left before the end of the year. we have thanksgiving and the christmas holidays intruding into this. so we have got five weeks. that means normally they would have apáãmaximum of 15 session days and 20 work days that they would have between now and the end of the year. and they have got a lot to do. they have to organize themselves this week and next spent in sort of organizi÷1e themselves, having the primaries inside the caucuses so that they can elect the spherls of the two bodies, the officials of the two bodies in january. they have got a continuing resolution or omnibus to fund the government either for a couple of months or hopefully through the end of the fiscal year. they have got a bunch of stuff on their table. this is a big complex issue. bill, do you know how big the senate immigration bill is? 1200 pages. >> more than 1,000 pages.
