where more than 15 inches fell. we had to walk a far distance because they had to abandon their cars and had to get supplies at local stores. we saw whiteout conditions gusts 40 miles per hour thunder and lightning. people on snowmobiles that appeared to be the successful way to tral across the region. there was so much snow that fell. if you are wondering what 60 inches of snow looks like take a look at the pictures in the area. there is snow covering doorways. when people open their front door and you have feet and feet of snow out there. otherwise the rest of the country looking at cold temperatures as well. we have windchill temperatures parts of the east coast and gulf coast states. as far west as the rockies and

anna kooiman has been following the story. 53-year-old al qaeda veteran is a major recruiter for isis. he was released from afghanistan in 2005. the files predicting he was not a threat citing his poor health. now he is the point man. it under scores the 20 plus gitmo detainees who joined isis. it shows a total of 622 detainees have been released to gitmo to some 52 countries the most recent transferred to kuwait. of those 7 returned to the bat et field. that's a recidivism late of 14 percent. the president harshly criticized to that deal. this is after being held in qatar for a year.

fell in one day. maria molina live in penbrook. what's the latest there? >> a year's worth of snowfall. we are hearing we could set a record for the most snowfall ever recorded in the u.s. in a 24-hour period. 76 inches. a major event has taken place across parts of south buffalo significant snowfall lake-effect snow warnings are in effect. we are looking at the possibility of another event heading through tonight and tomorrow with several different feats. that will hinder the cleanup in the area. we are east of buffalo one of the hardest hit areas. we have picked up at least 1-2 feet of snow. this area hard hit by that snow but nothing like the scene we saw out there across south buffalo. we were able to drive around that region it was very difficult. we were not able to get back to
