i am julie bandaras and this is the fox report. new developments in the irs targeting scandal, the watch dog agency for the internal rev now service found 30000 missing e-mails belonging to lois lerner. they were thought to be lost forever and what the agency claims was a computer crash learner has been in the investigation in the conserviceative nonprofit groups. many of the e-mails were found on back up tapes and through accounts of other irs employees.

molly, why couldn't the irs find them and the watch dog in the treasury department were able to find them? >> the irs said reportedly that its technology experts tried and couldn't do it and recover the missing e-mails. apparently the treasury department inspector general office had it people able to find them. they told law makers that the the e-mails were gone for good. here is how the irs explained what happened since then. the irs said we understand that shortly after the irs issued the june report, the treasury inspector general began an investigation of the hard drive crash and search for additional e-mails. the irs cooperated fully in the investigation including last summer with the disaster recovery tapes. the statement goes on that the irs commissioner has said and

continues to say he will be pleased if the missing e-mails could be found, julie? >> molly, what is the reaction on capitol hill. they have been suspicious about the claim that the e-mails were lost. jim jordan put out a statement saying that the irs continually dragged its feet and changed his story and with the information. and these e-mails are long over due and underscore again why we need a special prosecutor to conduct an unhindered investigation. they have tried to put the data in readable format before turning them over to congress. >> molly, thank you so much. >> turning to immigration in washington. republicans in congress are looking at ways to undo excutive action. not orders but action taken by

protect the government buildings and several school districts have cancelled class for next week in anticipation of this decision, julie. >> are they worried about things getting out of hand after the decision? >> reporter: police are worried about it and state official and business owners and folks at home, that's what everyone is worried about. the potential that you will see the same violent unrest like we saw in august. protest, they have been mostly peaceful and police believe it will continue through here and what has them worried is the extreme groups coming in and individuals who use the peaceful protest as cover to commit violent and criminal acts here in st. louis. two members of the new black panthers appeared in court after
