we've been figuring out we

can save money and heartache if we raise the age in which a person can get a license to 25. now, that got their attention. usually they'd start booing and yelling. and also decided to raise the age in which a person can date because sexually transmitted diseases are a serious problem among younger people. so we're going to pass a law you can't date without a parent on a date until you're 30. then, i'm excited. we're going to make it where you can't buy alcohol until you're at least 28 years old. because under aged drinking is a real problem. and by that time, virtually everybody in high school was yelling and screaming. then, i'd say wait a minute. you guys told me you didn't care about politics and government. the fact is that if you don't care, if you don't vote, we can do anything to you that we want to.

i said politicians don't work for the people. are you kidding yourself? if you that i you're naive. politicians work not for the people, but voters. the voters are the one that's hire them the voters aren't only people who can fire them. well, according to fox news exit polls, only 13% of americans between ages 18-29 voted in the mid term elections. they say they want their voices heard and how can they be when they don't show up for polls what will drive them to vote in the future? we're going to be joined by a panel of millenials.

first up is aimiki combs she tried to be the youngest member in congress. and this campus chief served on a staff for two colorado state representatives. chelsea henry, an attorney, entrepreneur and motivational speaker. named a rising star to the republican national committee. and johnny jones lost both of his legs when he stepped on an ied. he graduated from georgetown university and executive director of marketing of the boot campaign. thanks for joining us. >> yes. >> let's talk about why is it

that so chelsea let me start with you what. is going on with voters? >> 13%, we saw a 6% decrease in 2012. i think about what is important to us? the people that ran for office, are they schaeffering a message how we're going to be able to pay our student debt? how we're going to be able to start a family? a business? in government not being everything we do. we have to get back to basics and look at what is important. we have to reach out and be effective with what we say and how we message. >> what do you suggest politicians taught to be talking about and framing the message. if they're going to attract the vote? . >> i don't know if it's anything in particular or the way they frame the message. it comes down to one thing.

honesty. our generation is tire offed being lied to. and that they're looking for leadership. someone looking them in the eye and say look. we have tough decisions to make calls and i think our generation is looking for someone owe do that. >> it's not like you just read and i'm anxious to find out do you think there is perspective you that have is straight from your piers. >> well, you know, i'm telling people, you know overcoming adversity builds character and

success. . you have to lose to win. with our generation there is a bad term called establishment. when your fiscal policies have to match. when how you feel has to match how you feel about the economy. so, i'm knowingly optimistic but it's true. it's very discouraging at the end of the day we know that this area is decidedly red. this is blue. >> you may have a different perspective. do you think young people don't care? >> i think he has it right there. young people are the most-educated population ever the largest generation in history the most diverse generation in

history. it's not that they don't care. they're giving back to the communities more than any other generation in the past. but 50% find themselves as inds. and overwhelming hi they want the government to answer to them. and to fix the housing crisis. that is why i think they're answering to things like initiatives and turning out for gay marriage but notç turning t for politicians. >> when i talked earlier in the opening i talked about how a lot of students care what politicians can do for them. if you're go going to give advice, if you had advice and

can say you want to communicate, here is what you need to tell them. >> limited government. right and left when i'm traveling leadership campus we're hearing from students they want less government intrusion. irs targeting of political groups is home on both sides of the aisle. this issue students are really concerned about. and it's the way the government can handle that issue it's not been adequate. students are upset with intrusion. >> that there won't be to give them guaranteed loans? >> that is a separate question the government takeover is a big issue between increase in cost of tuition nationwide but i think it goes back to the government getting out of our lives, limited government.

i think our generation wants limited government. >> we're almost out of time for this segment. anyone else want to weigh in on that? >> the issue is clear across the board. but what i'm more concerned about is why are parties keeping millennials. they put money into mailers, they move every two years, investing into canvassing. and that money is on tv ads. so on television, you can do dvr in a commercial. >> right. >> they don't make money. it's about making money for the people who work for the

candidates tonight. that is a dirty game of politics we're going to keep this discussion up. coming up, millennials have grown up under a time when there is radical islamic terrorism. take a look at this video by campus reform.org. he asked a simple question. >> what is a bigger threat to world peace? america or isis? >> world peace? america. >> i think it's america. they're making decisions that affect the world. >> you know, of isis. yes.

millennials that are polled care about the issues. one of the great things about being on a college campus is the right to free speech. whether you're on the right side or left side of it, if you talk to millennials, it doesn't matter where you go, you're going to get a diverse opinion. if you go one campus? >> you've talked to students. is this a trend you can see? that people are blaming america for the problems of the world sth >> i do see students go to extreme lengths and you get on a good point there. is that students don't know the isis flag and do know the israel flag. that is the problem. is that israel flag is commonly portrayed on america's campuses as a symbol of people and oppression. when it is the opposite. and the isis flag is nowhere to be found whchlt students at

george mason university are asked do you want to support isis, they sign it. when i go to harvard -- >> they haven't been around since 1947. >> it's dominating the news. they're beheading westerners and it's seen on college campuses that activist students are trying to defund israel, trying to -- >> they're small groups there are pro-israeli groups as well. >> students of those groups are getting beaten up because of their association. we report it on all the time. >> when you talk to people that are blood brothers of isis out there, they're responsible for you not having legs today how do you respond? >> first let me tell you our innocent of the country in leading a global economy and going some to be dangerous to radical tyranny is responsible for me lose mying legs. so taliban had nothing to do

with me losing my legs because i chose to be there. our country chose to be there. as far as students on campus, if you can assimilate walmart not paying you $20 a hour wage with syria being our fault, i can't fathom, however, if you want to know what we do in other countries, the knowledgeable people, i graduated from georgetown, even with this accent, we're great not because of the wealth we have or but because every day we go what can we do to make this country and world a little bit better place. >> i want to you response that college campuses lean left

do you feel sometimes like you're in a college campus you're a fish out of water because you're a conservative? >> absolutely. so, i can tell you when i was in law school, i was known as the black republican. that is what some people would call me. and thankfully i am a rirn because of values and platform alone with my values it gave me an idea why i believe what i believe. the fact i happen to be black does not have anything to do i align with the republican party but i was able to take them back through hist troy allow them to see why sit important not only for african americans but all people to have the option to choose where you sign your voter registration form. with that, in law school and at church, i tell can change people to the republican party.

they understand their values align with the party. >> i don't have any doubts you've changed people. you're a very persuasive person. if i wasn't conservative before, i would be. >> in 1973 the u.s. converted to an all volunteer military. >> it is time maybe to consider reinstating the draft or some type of national service do you think that would get younger americans motivated to vote? we're going to ask the studio audience to stay with us on this special edition of "huckabee".

>> what we do see is that 56% are going into services, public sector, teach for america, ameri corps, peace corps. you name it we see high numbers of young americans going into nonprofit jobs and considering jobs for the military because they bring personnel into areas and give education i don't think that mandatory draft is necessary because

they're already going out in high droves we believe we're personal activists. we want to see government sponsoring these sort of services and jobs because we believe again in an activist government. >> that is different from what caleb says. >> anyone else on the way, do you want a limited government? >> i think the problem we have today in american society is that we have a welfare state has grown under barack obama we have a corporate welfare state at the same time. those of us going into the work force over the next couple years because of the policies being emphasized elsewhere, we're not going to have job creation because of our tax code because of obamacare and the regulatory department i think young people are in need of and supportive of free enterprise and limited government i don't agree you support an

activist government. i think we've seen that and it hasn't worked out so well. >> and if government does something, government has to pay for it the only way to pay for it is take it from you. >> molly, how much are you willing to pay the government to do things for you? that is the big question. it's got to get the money from you. it doesn't do bake sales. >> right. it should be personal responsibility. should take power away from the government and put it into personal enterprise and small businesses and i think if you limit the government, then people will be motivated to step up and make adjustments themselves. with the draft, i think someone, any time you retire someone to do do something, and the government requires it it causes people to be concerned. so it might have a beneficial response in that regard i don't think it should be be a requirement. i do think it would help people

look at issues that can, are these issues i'm willing to fight or and to put my eggs in one basket for. that would inspire them to get out and vote. >> johnny you're in a military all volunteer. nobody was there except they chose to be. good idea? bad idea? do you want to fight along someone that has to be there because a number came up? >> it is solved -- as a member of the department of defense and running a military nonprofit i can tell you we in the private sector do a lot better job spending a dollar. that is my experience. and that when it comes to this issue, i mean in this war, how many of you went out and bought a war bond? hoch of it came out of your check book? how much did you feel from this?

the answers are not a lot. maybe that is our goal i don't think the military needs a draft to be successful. >> let's than 1% of the american public will serve in the military, we're fighting wars with what my good friend says are other peoples' kids. do we understand fully what we're asking them to do? when he go? i wish we can keep just that topic. but public service, something to think about. you just graduated college, ready to move on. find a job, get a place to live, go out in the world but there is something dragging you down like cement shoes the question? will you ever be able to pay off those student loans? talking about our student loan problem in america with our panel and our audience when we come back.

year. >> you know i agree it's a racket. and colleges are overpriced but community colleges aren't that expensive. instead of buying a mercedes-benz you might buy a fiat? >> those who are going to higher under graduate unfortunately private institutions are getting jobs. those who are spending more when you see online degrees you're spending money and people aren't graduating and not getting jobs >> wall street bailout has not expected their ways in the way student hoon bailouts don't teach students fiscal responsibility. these are dults that need to realize they're liable to repay that debt. and they need to choose degree

that's make them employable. >> right now it doesn't matter what your degree is, you're not getting a job. >> how many are trying to get a skilled blue collar labor? trying to find something they can provide a service to provide, they can make money at. $50,000 or $60,000 a year. if you want a federal government do something, have them put information they have about hundreds of thousands of skilled labor jobs out there waiting for someone to fill them. and listen, hey i've got a skill set of bond setter and i went and found a job available i can fill. it's skilled labor. >> if a student decides to go to the most expensive school in america is it my responsibility to make that choice to have to pay someone else's decision?

i'd say go to the school you can afford to pay for. >> so at the of the of the day, i believe what you said they choose the school they want to go to. it was my decision so i'm not looking for a government handout. i am looking at ways to patent ideas, smart small businesses invent so i take on the responsibility to pay off my loan. there are programs i support. there are opportunities, if you serve ten years they'll pay off your debt. i support those programs i believe if you're giving back to the country, not just standing there with your hand stuck out to pay for you, there is a benefit tease young people are going in and making very little in terms

of sally ri but giving back i support those programs but to say 24% just want their debt paid off? we have educating to do. >> i twoent a small private christian college in arkansas. i'm telling you something. i debated in the course of my political life people who have harvard law degrees i never felt disadvantaged or disapointsed or sorry i went to the school i went to. i felt like i got a great education. go where you can afford and feel like you're going to be prepared for life. not where someone is going to give you recognition because there is a reputation there. you'll build your own. many political candidates will focus often on issues like legalizing marijuana. is it a top priority foremost

opinion of israel and are unaware of isis do you believe that having some sort of mandatory community service will increase a sense of commitment to the american community? >> i do think there is a sense in which we, it's difficult to force people in the service. i want to see a part of that. it is almost we need to do is ask what will you do for your country? >> well, it doesn't matter there are is a sense of responsibility here. >> you can take a day out of high school to go build habitat for humanity.
