in for steve. happy knew year everyone. a live look at times squire right now where all of the crews are out cleaning up all of those piece of confetti. >> we have such a good team here in new york city they clean it up in a few hours. >> it's still falling from the buildings. >> when i walked in this morning it hit me in the face. >> there's actually a beach ball in the revolving door when i was trying to get in this morning. >> really? we're only a block away from where all of that happened in times square. we walk in every new year's day with all of this confetti in front of the plaza. >> what did you do last night? you were on a train? >> i was on a train special report last night talking about how north korea maybe not behind the big sony hack. then got on the train got here at 9:00 and had a surprisingly difficult time getting from penn station on foot to the hotel.

>> one of the largest celebrations, of course, that party right there the one in times square, 1 million people braving the cold to see the ball drop. just a couple of hours ago thousands packed the streets of las vegas to see fireworks above the strip. and in hong kong, a rainbow of lights. >> and then in france the party continues. last night paris hosted a light show and fireworks there. today it's a parade with floats and fans. >> there are always protesters. and there were anti-police protesters came out yesterday all the police were setting up the barricades making sure that the crowds were safe. let's go up to boston first because they were having what they call a die in. folks laid down in front of the public library and were chanting

different things saying that -- they had different quotes and different signing being held up. one of which is that black kids are twice and likely to be shotly police as white kids. >> and you saw at the top of the video when wu were talking about the boston die ins there was somebody holding a sign that said black people matter. they went into the police department open when the police officers were trying to escort them out, they ended up spraying pepper spray for some of the protesters. there were 15 of them that stormed the police department in st. louis. >> st. louis is where the problem is in 2015. the protesters after they stormed the police started complaining when they were maced. you know they're getting maced too much. then the police chief said we're here too much when we could be out on the streets stopping crime.

welcome back. president obama continued his record pace of regulations in 2014 signing more than 75,000 pages worth of them. so what else can we expect for 2015? let's ask republican strategist lisa booth. welcome to "fox and friends". >> hi, peter. >> we've got the top low regulations, restrictions on future power plants. i know most people who are watching the slow are not thinking about starting up a power plant. but how are the regulations going to impact you and me? >> well, it's incredibly impactful. here's the things to remember. it's not the sheer amount of regulations, it's a costliest. president obama has issued 50 times more costly regulations than george bush did during his entire presidency.

just the year alone finalizing other $200 billion in federal regulations. it's costing americans jobs and presenting economic opportunity. let's look at the energy. it's not happening because of president obama it's happening in spite of him. it's happening because of horizontal drilling. and president obama has done everything he can to stand in the way of the economic opportunity by roping off federal land and placing new regulations on hydraulic fracturing. >> the biggest combination of those, keystone pipeline the new republican senate is going to take that up in committee a week from today. do these regulations have any ability or will they derail the progress of the keystone pipeline? >> potentially, but let's hope not. what we know about the keystone

pipeline is it's a job creator and's got strong bipartisan support. here's my biggest frustration with this president especially in relation to energy. we know that the energy industry can create jobs. we've seen anytime the domestic supply of oil. why is he stand in the way of the economic opportunity? so what my hope is that we can get strong bipartisan support for the keystone pipeline and start moving the economy forward. >> this year the economy finished on a high note. a lot of people are starting 2015 with a little extra pad in their 401(k)s. but with this pace, 75,000 pages of regulations, can we keep that up? >> we spend $2 trillion a year on these regulations. there's no deal in site. that carbon rule is going to cost americans hundreds of thousands of jox. >> and lisa, last question.

he's the author of "when forgiveness doesn't make sense." he's also a fox news contributor and the pastor of first baptist dmuj church in dallas. why do you say that forgiveness is the key to happiness? >> well the reason is we all look back on 2014, we can think of people who have hurt us or wrong us or angered us. while we can't control what other people do to us we can control our responses to those offenses. and the biggest choice for 2015 is going to be are we going to hold on to the wrongs until they metastasize into a tumor of bitterness or are we going to forgive them? it simply means to let go. it doesn't mean to deny or minimize or forget what has happened to us. forgiveness is simply letting go of our right to hurt other people for hurting us allowing god or somebody else to settle the score so we can be free to

get on with your lives. >> what is your message for our country? we've seen so much happen after ferguson and staten island we have the niend turning their backs on their mayor. how do we move forward? >> i think we have to understand the difference between vengeance and justice. when we forgive we be give up or desire for vengeance. you see a good illustration of that in ferguson. people felt wronged by the verdict in the miking brown case so they took to the streets to get even. the problem with that philosophy is that eventually everybody ends up blind and toothless. we're to give up or desire for vengeance but not justice. i think of the families of the slain police officers in new york. while they can forgive the killer that doesn't mean they give up thar desire tore justice. they can still desire that the killer be treated justly, going

to prison. >> the title of your book is "when forgiveness doesn't make sense." how do we learn to forgive? it's easy to say forgive. pu how do you actually do it? >> i think first of all we need to understand that again it's not denying or forgetting. forgiveness is about letting go. and you know within i think we need to understand that forgiveness benefits us much more than the person who wrong us. there are studies that show that the spiritual and the physical benefits of forgiveness. for example, unforgiveness has been linked to heart disease hypertension, even a decrease in immune deficiency system. but the fact is refusing to forgive is like drinking rat poison and waiting for the ratto die. it hurts us much more than it does the person who wronged us. >> what a great message for

it was signed into law by president bush following 9/11. a police helicopter crashes on to a street in las vegas sending two officer to the hospital. the chopper had a problem in the air and was forced to land in a fland. no one on the ground was hurt. the officers expected to be okay. the helicopter is one of five choppers run by the police department. lie in order. a utah woman with with no legal experience accused of stealing an attorney's identity. police say the 29-year-old carla carbo posed as carla fee yar ro. she was busted after the court contacted the real fierro about a case. first baby 2015, we may never know. the largest health care operator in the country wants to keep it secret. at least 207 facilities across

portions of the rockies and the plains and now in the northeast. cleveland, you're only looking at temperatures in the teens. the same in places like chicago and across parts of the plains. some areas are looking at temperatures that are in the single digits. so a little chilly out there. we do have concerns with the wind chill temperature. you can see the numbers are much colder. feeling like the teens in new york city and feels like some areas are looking at temperatures below zero. we're having a storm system that we're tracking into portions of the plains. we have winter storm barngs that are in effect. and the concern is that a storm system is producing areas of freezing rain and sleet across portions of texas so that's going to be a big issue there. expect to some sew icy conditions on road. the winter storm warnings over the next couple 0 days, we would be looking at another round of advisories being issued. across the rockies that storm

it with as complete tragedy. but what's also a tragedy is the head of the pba, pat lynch has been using this as a political opportunity to get what he wants. he's turned his back on his other officers because he's trying to get contract negotiations, salary increases. you know patrolmen are below lieutenants and captains. right now he wants to get his patrolmen to get paid more than the captains and lieutenants. >> is this a political situation? >> absolutely not. pat lynch is concerned with the safety of police officers and the safety of the citizens and of new york. these police officers didn't turn their back on the mayor. they turned their back on the notion that there's some racism within the new york city police department. >> they followed pat lynch. what are they supposed to do when they look to if person of the left of them and officers to the right of them and they're

welcome back. emma and john got engaged over the phone this october as john was in basic training for the air force. >> upon his return emma planned a surprise at the airport. as she was waiting there, she's the one that got the surprise. each passenger getting off that plane and handing her those single roses and ultimately john gets down on one knee and he proposes in person. just last weekend, they got married and joining us now from their honeymoon airman first class john greco and his new bride, emma. congratulations. we're so happy for you guys. >> thank you so much. happy new year. >> so whose idea was it for every passenger on that plane to get a rose to give to emma? >> i have to say my mom nancy gave me the idea. and i was just going to come off the plane and propose to her. but i think the roses just like, what really added to it, i really wanted to make her feel

the phone at all for about four weeks and i knew during the fourth week i'd have a phone call. but when john trial had the chance to do the phone call, i was actually rock climbing at the rock climbing gym in kalamazoo. my friend was trying -- john was trying to get ahold of my roommate to get ahold of me at the rock climbing gym and we only had two minutes to talk by the time i got to my phone. and we basically both just kind of blurted out to each other that we want to do spend the rest of our lives together. >> and john what were people saying when you asked them to participate, when you handed them a rose like they just won the bachelor and you said, hey, can you please help me go and propose to my girlfriend? >> oh, everybody was so accommodating. everybody wanted to help out. the first 12 people i picked, like all wanted to participate. it wasn't hard at all finding volunteers, that's for sure. >> so fun. so you got married last weekend.

8510, might have climbed too fast before crashing last sunday. this as weather continues to be a problem in the recovery efforts for more bodies and more debris. fox news' david piper is in thailand. what's the latest on the search david? >> reporter: good morning to you. the bad weather is seriously hampering the search and recovery operation at the moment in the java sea. divers can't even get into the water to check out an object that's been sighted to find out if it's actually the body of the missing plane. divers weren't even able to transfer to the destroyers to begin their 100-foot dive to the sea floor because of the strong winds and 15-foot waves. ships from many nation, including the uss samson, do continue to look for further debris and bodies from the plane. eight bodies have so far been recovered. 162 people were on board. new year celebrations were canceled in one city where the majority of those aboard came from. the plane went missing sunday

>> exactly. >> well, we're celebrating new year's day with a big new year's eve celebration. it wouldn't be one of these big celebrations without protesters wreaking havoc. although it was peaceful where we start up in boston, they did a die-in last night. protesters laying down in front of a public library there with signs saying black lives matter, among other signs. >> there are reports say there were about 100 total people with the die-in and then 50 or so who went for a march. so it's not like everybody in boston was laying down in the road protesting. but it's triple digit. >> not as peace envelope st. louis where protesters there are -- 15 stormed the police department. got a little violent because the police officers were trying to escort them out. when the protesters wouldn't leave, the police officers had to spray them with pepper spray. they arrested several people there as well. >> those protesters did not like the pepper spray. they were complaining and taking vine videos. they said it's happening too

the story was based on a true experience and i had the opportunity in the early '80s when i was the deputy of the v.a. system to work with fellows who were p.o.w.s in japan in a factory very similar to what was depicted in the movie. the conditions were actually worse than what they depicted and showed. i used to work with fellows who told me that they used to have to find and catch rats in order to supplement a diet in order to live. it was real in terms of what was shown. that experience was there and it's history. i understand people may want to -- some of the culture may hide the dark side of their past, but it was real. >> yeah. we're seeing some images on the screen of you during your time in service there in vietnam. tell us about the time you spent

in captivity. >> well, there were periods of time for about five years where we went through some pretty barbaric torture. i myself personally experienced torture where my arms -- circulation was cut off. my hands turned black and they remained black for many months, almost a year. there were periods of isolation, of leap difficultation. periods where my legs were shackled. i couldn't move them and we were cuffed behind the back, my arms. and those kind of conditions i spent weeks in that kind of situation. so we had our cycles of pretty bad treatment but it was one where we experienced it in cycles. they would come on spend four, five weeks and then they would leave us alone for a while. then come back again for a

period of about five years 'til things improved at the end of the war. >> it's so important to learn your history ask your country and to know. many of these people are very, very old in japan who were in that part of the world during that war. during the war, many of the populous of japan didn't even know what was going on of the they didn't even understand. so when all of this news broke they were shocked about the brutality in some of these camps. wouldn't it be important for these people to learn about it now? >> i would hope so. i feel that the more people know about it they'd be less willing to do this again in the future in terms of a policy. they should adhere to the geneva accord on the treatment of p.o.w.s and how they should be. i feel that more people know more about what happened in the past, they would not support or be willing to see such activities. >> a lot of people surprised by universal's decision not to

have a balance. obviously there is people who are really great givers and get nothing back and there are people who are takers and never give anything back. so really what i like to have people do when they're developing relationship, whether it's professional or personal is really focus on giving. come from a place of service and love and what do you need? naturally it will come back to you. >> that's so great. even in a married relationship you can learn a lot from that. >> that actually makes a huge difference. i see that with couples all the time who are in a really traumatic space in their relationship. if they just focus on giving, a lot of times the marriage becomes healthier the relationship becomes better. >> and your third tip, complacency is killer. >> it is. everyone becomes complacent whether it's in a friendship relationship romantic relationship, when you've been together a while. it's like oh, them again. but really it can be the death of a relationship, it can lead to apathy. so really putting effort in. making sure you're really paying attention to your partner or your friend and putting that

effort in that you put in in the beginning. in the beginning everybody is putting all of their attention and focus on a relationship. then we kind of let it go. recycling that. >> you say it's very important to just accept your partner for who he or she is. >> yeah. that's something that takes a lot of practice is really understanding that we can't change people. your boss is going to be the same boss next year probably that they are this year. your partner is not going to lose all those offending characteristics. so either love them or leave them. you need to accept people for who they are. don't try to change them. it will frustrate you. >> and focus on the positive that they bring into your life. not the negative. >> yeah. and i like to practice gratitude. so every day i get up and i write three things down that i'm grateful for and it really makes a difference. so you could do the same thing with your partners or friends or even your boss. if you have a boss you're not so keen on focus on the things you really like about them, their strengths strengths and characteristic. >> everybody who met someone at

and the other thing is have potassium, bananas. you're losing a ton of potassium. they're good and they say honey is pretty good. >> what about coffee? >> if you are a coffee drinker, do not deprive yourself of coffee. that's part of your regiment. that's your daily intake and you're going to have a big migraine if you don't do it. i'm not a coffee drinker. same thing. if you drink tea, don't deprive yourself of that. >> one thing that works for me is rest. you wake up after nine hours and immediately go back to sleep. >> you need your rest 'cause that's how your body will help metabolize everything that's happening. take an extra nap. but the other thing is get up and work out get your body flowing, get the blood flowing. if you can get to an exercise class of some sort, i do a lot of yoga. something not too tough. >> you say avoid this, medicine. >> don't mix any type of medicine with alcohol. just don't. >> don't drink your medicine with the gin.

mind, this was probably one of my favorite movies of the year on here at number ten. tell us about "guardians of the galaxy". >> number ten, this was a huge surprise and clayton this movie blew my mind to a point where i was crying nerd tears in the theater. incredibly fun. the action was great. the sound track, to me, was the real star of this movie. reminded me of what terrentino did with "pulp fiction" did in the day. the characterrers aware of it. but also the cool thing was vin diesel, when he went in the studio to do the character op the left side of the script it said i am grut. on the right side, it was paragraphs of what i am grut meant for that specific scene. so he could inflect the dialogue a certain way. it's really cool if you listen to it and watch it again, you can hear the difference of how he says i am grut throughout the movie. that's my number ten of the year. >> what about "american sniper"?

>> this movie blew my mind. i'm telling you right now, comes only out in new york dallas, and l.a. right now. hits everywhere january 16. bradley cooper became chris kyle and it really is one of those performances that i think it's for the ages. one of the best performances i've seen this year and also the best performance of his career. clint eastwood's best movie. it focuses on chris kyle's legacy and legend. but also his struggle with being at war and being back home as well. it is a film that is really intense, rivetting powerful. it's a movie worth seeing in theaters and i really truly think it's one of the best movies of the year. you have to see it in theaters for sure. >> what's number 8 on your list? >> i got to go with "night crawler." i'm sorry. "edge of tomorrow" is number 8. with tom cruz and emily blunt. it kept rewinding the day over and over, like a groundhog day. the director, so much fun. for a movie that kept repeating itself over and over again it

never got old ironically. tom cruz and emily blount do a lot of their own stunts. she really is the star of the movie. she's the one that leads the film and i think there needs to be more female-led action movies in hollywood. this is a great example of it. that's my number 8 of the year. by the way, on dvd now called "live, die or peace." >> you see tom cruz get shot in movies. you don't see him get shot like 40 times and die. and then reborn. >> anybody would doesn't like tom cruz, can watch him die in the movie. you mentioned number 7 "night crawler." and we want to get to number 6. >> love that it makes you think about just society in general, jake gyllenhaal lost 30 pounds. he became someone who films car accidents and crime scenes and sells them to local television stations. he starts to manipulate the crime scene and it becomes sensational. but very well done. he's amazing, one of the best

whether you're searching for work or new year's resolution is land a new gig, 2015 can be the year for you. let's just say it will be. cheryl casone from our sister network, fox business, is here with the top jobs of 2015. >> new year, new job. there is some great jobs out there. you're going to hear some themes that i've already talked about this year on "fox & friends." but networking computer system administrators, it's all about technology and coding and writing web sites, all of those skills invaluable. the job growth that's been in place since 2010 7%. that's a very high number. average monthly hires, more than 18,000. you can make 35 bucks an hour and change doing one of these top jobs. >> great. >> they're looking for you. >> registered nurses? >> okay. so we've seen this with not just obamacare, but also just in general. the baby boom population, there is a huge need for nurses. so there is more listings for

these jobs to be filled than the companies can fill them for. hospitals in particular. 5% growth rate. patient care obviously. and $32 an hour and change. again, such high demand for nurses right now and we need them in particular right now. >> this next job, you can see the entire country, a truck driver. >> yes. isn't this fascinating? the younger generation, for whatever reason, doesn't want to have a career as a truck driver. there is a huge shortage of truckers. now the salaries are going up and up and up. i don't know, it used to be like kind of a glamorous thing. i guess it's not anymore. transporting goods, things like that. no college degree required. obviously some certification. but 131,000 hires on average is the goal here and more than $18 an hour. especially in the energy industry down south. they really need skilled truck drivers. this would be good for veterans. >> great idea. sales managers? >> yeah. i always come up with a lot of sales jobs for the show. and so with all the sales employees, they need to be

one of the simplest and fastest ways to start helping folks get ahead is by raising the minimum wage. the hard day's work deserves a fair day's pay. it also means they'll have more money to spend at local businesses, which grows the economy for everyone. >> president obama has repeatedly called for minimum wage hikes, saying that they will grow the economy. now 21 states are ringing in 2015 with new minimum wage increases. but our next guest says those increases will have just the opposite effect. joining me now is the research director of the employment policies institute michael

saltsman. happy new year. thank you for joining us. >> happy new year to you. >> not everybody watching out there is competing for or working in a minimum wage job. how do these increases impact them? >> so i think the way it impacts people if you're a young person who may be looking for a job this year or someone who regularly is going to a restaurant, what you're going to see in 2015 and 2016 is not only do the number of opportunities decline, but you may see service change somewhat as businesses move towards self-service alternatives. maybe it's going to a grocery store and bagging your own instead of having someone bag it for you. as the cost of hiring people at the minimum wage increases, i think people's experience in a lot of these service industry businesses and the number of opportunities that are available there will change. >> the last time that we were talking about the minimum wage in the news was bill o'reilly had something to say. he takes the other side. listen to this.

>> did you know that about 70% of all american workers earn less than $50,000 a year? did you know that? i didn't know that. that means the folks are struggling. raise the minimum wage. that will encourage young people to get into the marketplace and other folks to get off the dole. ten bucks an hour not gonna break anyone. >> so michael, what do you say about this argument that some people make that by increasing the minimum wage, you kind of heard bill o'reilly saying it there, fewer people will be relying on public assistance and that could be a good thing. >> the congressional budget office looked at that and said that there may be some people who go off public assistance but it's offset by some who may go on public assistance after they lose their jobs. all due respect to bill o'reilly, but i don't think he's trying to make payroll at a small grocery store or a small diner. i think i was in michigan last month talking to a nonprofit restaurant owner who trial had to close his doors due to a

combination of higher food prices and higher minimum wage in the state of michigan. that's 12 fewer employees that had jobs. so i think for those people, they're 100% supported by the taxpayer now as opposed to what they had before, which was a paying job where they were able to get experience and work their way up. >> you don't see any scenario in 2015 coming off a strong economic year that the gains made economically by raising the minimum wage would offset any job loss by these small business owners who couldn't afford it? >> i don't think that -- people who have looked at it and taken a neutral look at it, i don't think that really pans out. i think what you will see is in 2015 as the economy continues to grow we'll see what happened in the past. people will get raises on their own. they'll work up. they'll work their way up the career ladder. i think what we have to hope is that the increases that are taking place in the states don't eliminate too many opportunities. there are some people who don't have that same chance.

and they are both going to be serving federal prison time. theresa actual israeli going to be going to jail on january 5. so in a couple of days, she's going to start serving her 15-month jail sentence. joe is going to be staying home with the children. we've learned hollywood life.com that theresa is very worried because she has four daughters who he is going to be looking after. then he's going to serve about a four-year jail sentence and he actually faces possible deportation because he actually is not a u.s. citizen. so that actually came out. he's an italian citizen. but we're hopeful that things will look up for these two in 2015. but theresa is going to be in prison. >> for the children's sake, we hope it looks better for them. >> and top of the heap this year, jay-z and beyonce and solange in the elevator. >> i'm still talking about this, right? a year later about six months later, so this happened in may. here in new york city at the standard hotel after the met ball. so they looked so happy on the red carpet together.

roadways sidewalks. be careful out there this morning. across parts of the rockies there is a secondary area of low pressure. this is the more powerful one. it's been producing areas of snow across places like southern california arizona and now we're seeing it move through parts of new mexico early this morning. so expect more snow there. some of the higher elevations could be looking at potentially ten inches of snow. locally, even hire amounts will be possible. this storm system will produce risk for more ice across parts of texas and oklahoma as we head through friday. saturday, it swings eastward. look at this future radar. there is areas of snow across parts of the upper great lakes and also into portions of iowa wisconsin, and then areas of very heavy rain with it, from pennsylvania all the way down to parts of the gulf coast. it's coming up 6:00 p.m. eastern time on saturday and there is also the concern for severe weather across parts of the gulf coast. so we'll keep tracking the storm system. for today, the concern again is ice across parts of the southern plains and snow in the rock reese and that cold air just in

>> thank you. listen to this, "newsweek" magazine's latest issue is a piece bashing the bible. you can see the cover. it declares the bible so misunderstood, it's a sin. the article starts out saying, quote, they fall on their knees worshiping at the base of granite monuments to the ten commandments. they are god's frauds, cafeteria christians. our next guest took that author to task over twitter. fox news contributor, eric shawnson joins us now. good to see you. >> good to see you. happy new year. >> thank you. let's start out by -- first let's talk about what's wrong with the article. how do you think the author got it wrong? >> their basic factual errors in there. for example, he doesn't add my rebuttals. he takes liberals, a lot of nonchristians to make points about the bible without any orthodox rebulletses from christians. but for example, he misstates the number of transcripts of the

new testament or number of translations of the new testament in the early church. he gets wrong when the new testament was compiled. just a lot of basic factual errors that he makes and when people called him out on this, he said they were misreading him, which is deeply hilarious considering his misreading of the bible. >> i know you have been talking with him over twitter. what did you say to him and what was his response? >> well, i told him he was misreading it, that he was flat out wrong about a number of things and actually cited other people. so his response was to ask me how what i do for a living wasn't a violation of romans 13 which is the be loyal to the government and don't rebel. in other words my job in being a pundit making criticism of the government was somehow a sin, according to him, which is a complete misreading of the bible. >> he says that he calls christians god's frauds and cafeteria christians. did he explain what he means by that? what is a cafeteria christian? >> people who think they know

what the bible says and really don't. basically what he did is he took, as one example, the various gospels of matthew, mark and luke and some of them talk about jesus being born in a manger. mark doesn't talk about his birth at all. so somehow they were different accounts as opposed to the orthodox christian, who were writing to different audiences and leaving out facts already known and in position. by the way, it's deeply ironic that a magazine that couldn't keep itself in print is lashing out against the book most widely printed in human history. >> that's interesting. you talk about the factual errors. let me read you this. this is part of the article so that folks at home can hear this. complete factual error here. no television preacher has ever read the bible. neither has any evangelical politician, neither has the pope. neither have i and neither have you. at best, we've all read a bad translation, a translation of translations of translations of hand copied copies. what's your reaction? >> that's actual lea one of the telling points of why so many people have come to believe the bible because he's right, it is

a translation of a translation of a translation. but we have translations that go back 3,000 years and they're all the same. over the last 3,000 years there have been minor errors in the translations, but they haven't impacted the context. they haven't impacted the meaning. they haven't backed the words. it is a remarkably consistent tradition over several thousand years of translating the bible. so for him to say we don't know what the bible is actually given the consistency, we're pretty sure we do know what it says. >> yeah. and how many ministers -- i've heard so many preach and i know they've read the bible. there are even classes at many churches where you can -- >> i'm in a seminary right now. exactly. i've taken seminary classes right now and in my very first class in seminary many of these questions were answered. it looks like he never bothered to even reach out and get someone's opinion. other than people who already agree with him. it's very funny when go into something want to go disprove it, guess what you're probably going to do when you don't talk to people who might rebut you. >> what do you do in this situation? now that you're in seminary, i'd like to ask you, how do

christians face people ho don't believe in god in the new year? what's some advice? you don't want to turn them away from god but how do you love them and have honest conversations with them? >> no anger. at the same time keep in mind christ -- there are some people who just don't want to know. they want to disregard it, undermine the faith. i get the sense from this article that this wasn't written to honestly engage christians. it was written to but the tress those who turned against the church and don't like christians. i would say my lesson to pastors and people in church, you need to understand the facts of your faith. not just going into church on sunday and hearing a message from the bible, but you need to begin to understand how is the bible composed? where did it come from? who wrote it? and why are these seemingly contradictory things not contradictory? there are easy answers. we as christians should learn them. >> thank you so much. good to see you, eric. happy new year. >> thank you. happy new year. coming up, new york city's

this is the person who ran anti-cop campaign to get elected. shows he has no intentions resolving the matter with the police department. >> here is what the mayor's office has to say about this they say the story is false. the administration did not ask elected officials to attack anyone. we reached out to public officials that they stand with the mayor. do you buy that? >> i do not. obviously after the meeting with the different reps nobody came to resolve. nobody came in there and apologized. the police department deserved an apology. no matter what his words are we really need actions. i think the mayor has to take control and say i made a mistake. i should have handled this different live. the eric garner decision started this. >> let's dive into that. some people on air said he need to make public apology and need to make a speech on it. you say speeches don't matter, it is actions that matter. what specifically can he do?

multiple cop haters without bail including devon coley, a known gang member who made death threats to police hours after two nypd officers were murdered in brooklyn. police officials say de blasio's actions are quote completely hypocritical to his argument that he is pro-police. a helicopter crashings on the streets of las vegas sending tw the chopper had a problem in the air and forced to land in the neighborhood. no one on the ground was hurt. the officers are expected to be okay. the helicopter is one of five choppers run by the police department. jeb bush clearing his desk for a presidential run. the former florida governor given the biggest sign yet of possible 2016 bid resigning from all his corporate and board memberships immediately. a spokesperson said it is his natural next step as he evaluates the run for president. 2015 we may never know, the largest health care operator in

ones that you don't are doing something equally bad for their health, how do you weigh the two? so unfairly discrip nating against some of the recipients and not everybody. i think that is the legal argument going to be made when people try to fight this law. >> when you do take away food stamps from them, they are not able to buy food, how do they continue on with their life? >> in this problem at the thought about. that if you failed the drug test we'll refer to you drug treatment which benefits everyone. talk about the privacy issue. the legal standard as you know what is a reasonable expectation of privacy in the context of the program? but to sign up for a program like this you have to give up a bevy of personal information. medical information, financial information. you have to agree to home visits. all of which have been held constitutional. so i would argue that you have a diminished expectation of privacy just by joining a program like this and i don't think a drug test is really more invasive than those other measures that people consent to join the program. >> you know, i will say this. if you work at fox news they pay

my paycheck. they could go drug testing if they wanted to and i could lose my job as a result. in this situation you the taxpayer, you're paying for this, shouldn't government be able to do drug testing? tax dollars. >> that is a fair arguement but let's look at the practical portion of this. they pull your welfare benefits, instead of keeping benefits while you get clean and give you cutoff point. that would be a much better program to promote. you test dirty you have a certain time to get clean then you are cut off. who can argue with that. the other practical issue is, if you're cutting these people off you're cutting off entire families not just one person particularly. where do they get money? we'll have to see. >> michigan governor, governor snyder okayed the plan for one year. it is a pilot program. we'll have to see. then they will reassesses after that year is complete. >> right. >> thanks, guys for joining us here today. >> happy new year.
