twitter. be part of the segment we call your buzz. we are back next sunday morning at 11:00 and 5:00 eastern with the latest buzz. fox news alert to oh the grim search for wreckage and victims from flight 8501. authorities say they have discovered several large objects at the bottom of the java sea believed to be pieces of the missing plane. but more dangerous weather is keeping divers from reaching the wreckage. welcome to "america's news headquarters". >> hello everyone. despite the severe and unforgiving conditions, search crews are optimistic they can recover the black boxes tomorrow. that would help in finding the cause of the crash. this as we learn teams have recovered four more bodies now, bringing the toe tall to 34 of 162 vichose who were on board. david piperer has the latest

from thailand. hi, david. >> reporter: hi, eric. yes, despite the best evidents of the search teams they haven't been able to explore the body of this missing plane so far that they believe is on the ocean floor. it's now over 7 days since the airasia flight disappeared. more bad wetather stopped attempts to find large objects at the bottom of the java sea are parts of the missing plane. indonesian officials are confident the objects found by sonar a hundred feet down are major parts of the aircraft. divers weren't able to go down again today. there was zero visibility. the sea was too rough for a remotely operated under water vehicle to take pictures of the objects. search and reare kovry teams have now recovered four more bodies from the sea. the u.s.s. sampson brought three to shore today.

34 bodies have been recovered. the airbus went missing with 162 people on board last sunday morning. the indonesian agency says the initial analysis suggests icy conditions in the air caused the engines to stall. meanwhile a traditional church service was held today to remember dozens of members on oh board the lost plane. indonesia is a predominantly muslim country. this disaster hit the local christian community hard. the u.s. embassy in jakarta issued a warning to americans about a terrorist threat against u.s. interests in surabaya. some indonesians are believed to have traveled to the middle east to support isis. despite a government crack down it's believed there are some members of isis and al qaeda still in indonesia. >> david thanks so much. of course if the black boxes are recovered tomorrow, what could they reveal about the final moments of the doomed flight? in a few moments we'll speak to

aviation experts on what they expect to find if the black boxes are recovered. >> tensions still running high in new york city today as one of oh two officers assassinated in an ambush is laid to rest. many police officers outside the church in brooklyn turning their backs to mayor deblasio as he spoke at the funeral for liu. many blame him for the violence against their comrades because of his handling of the eric garnerer choke hold case. her's more from brooklyn. brian? >> good morning. we are an hour into the funeral service here in brooklyn for the 32-year-old officer, a seven-year veteran of the nypd. we have heard from fbi director james comy, bill bratton and new york city mayor bill de blasio and p many of the officer's family member s including his father and his wife.

controversy that's been in the city regarding mayor de blasio. dozens in my general area outside the funeral home of police officers and veteran nypd officers turning their backs during his speech. remember commissioner bratton sent out a memo on friday discouraging officers from doing so. they did it last weekend. yet many officers here at least in our general vicinity here in front of the funeral home ignored the request and they did turn their backs as he gave remarks. of course today is all about officer liu. an emotional day. a funeral service still ongoing. we'll bring you the latest on this very sad day as thousands -- thousands of officers from toronto los angeles, boston lining the streets out here as far as the eye can see for someone they didn't know but someone they consider a brother. arthel? >> indeed. so sad. thank you, bryan. the funeral services will continue. we'll be streaming them for this

fallen hero live on fox news.com. you can see it in its entirety. now to that astounding story of inspiration and hope and a heartbreaking and horrible turn for a little girl. she walked away from a private plane crash that tragically killed her family. the thags's thoughts and prayers are with 7-year-old saylor. she walked almost a mile in the cold dense kentucky woods for help after her father's plane she was in went down killing her parents sister and her cousin. will carr is live in los angeles with more details today. hi. >> reporter: the ntsb should hold a press conference any minute that may shed light into what happened saturday night. at the same time the community of nashville, illinois is expressing mourning over this tragedy. also they have sheer amazement in the fact that this 7-year-old girl survived. the plane crash over western

kentucky somehow she came out relatively unscathed. authorities say it's a miracle. she walked through rough terrain for almost a mile and knocked on larry wilkins's door. >> i went to the door. i seen this little girl about 7 years old. nose was bloody. of course trembling, crying. she told me that her mom and dad were dead and she had been in a plane crash. >> reporter: authorities say her parents marty and kimberly died in the crash along with her he 9-year-old sister and 14-year-old cousin. all four were from nashville, illinois. the f.a.a. said the plane was going from florida to illinois when marty reported engine trouble in the small twin engine plane. that's the last time air traffic control heard from the family. friends say he was a seasoned pilot with a passion for aviation. >> he loved flying.

you didn't have a conversation with marty without him talking about flying. >> reporter: she was released from the hospital yesterday. a family spokesperson has come out and asked for the nation's prayers for the family and especially for sailor. >> our thoughts and prayers are with her and her family at this difficult time. will, thank you so much. >> that's for sure. meanwhile, rescue crews saving all 25 crew members of a car go boat that ran aground just off the southern coast of england last night where the 51-ton ship was heading from denmark. crews are assessing the stability of the ship to see if it can be salvaged. new report that is the radical islamic terrorists of isis are seek ing to expand further saying the terrorist group wants to secure bases inside of lebanon. according to reuters isis wants to control some villages in lebanon to try to shore up support for the fighting

is it at all possible to prevent this? >> we could have done a lot in the early days. it's been six months now since isis really burst on the scene defeating the iraqi army before mo sul. during that time the american response has consisted of air strikes from time to time. not really in a coordinated way but looking at a target of opportunities. we have no real strategy. we are not arping the kurds effectively. the notion of training the iraqi army that failed earlier, i think, is going nowhere. the free syrian army is dissolving in front of us. all this time isis is consolidating andle controlling. you heard about the iraqi army about the move on the offensive. the kurds have done well themselves. purely in a defensive mode. i'm afraid time is slipping away from us. i have said it br. the longer this goes on, the harder, the costlier it will be in terms of lives to defeat isis

and stop them from accomplishing what they say they want to do to create a radical islamic state out of two previous countries. >> it seems they have created the caliphate and they are expanding. do you think it is possible to stop them, when they talk about arming rebels and training them at least a year away? >> it's possible to do it. you can't do it without a strategy, without resources and without leadership from the united states. none of which we have demonstrated adequately to date. i think the arab states of the region are extremely worried that if isis takes hold there if the radicalism that embodies will be turned first against them. that's why the attacks on the yzitis, kurds arab christians are important. the conflict between al qaeda on one hand and isis on the other is that al qaeda accuses isis of too much concentration on her ticks in the muslim world and not enough on the main enemy --

this morning the sports world mourning the loss of espn's stuart scott. he lost his battle with cancer this morning. he was an anchor for the flagship show of the network "sportcenter" and continued to work while battling the disease. he leaves behind two daughters. scott was 49 years old. okay. we are back now to the grim search for wreckage and victims from flight 8501. bad weather hampering today's recovery efforts. this coming as we learn airasia was not given permission to fly the route it flew over the java sea before vanishing from radar and crashing last sunday. how exactly does this play into the investigation into how flight 8501 crashed. weighing in now is an aviation

attorney doug loto. i want to start with with this. i'm sure you read the same thing that the transport ministry said the air line didn't have a permit to fly on sunday. but singapore's civil aviation authority said saturday from its end the airline had been approved to fly the route. what sort of questions does this raise for you? >> most importantly, it raises insurance issues. and what impact the insurance coverage will have with respect to the airline flying on a day that it wasn't authorized to fly. apparently they were allowed to fly on four days per week. for some reason they were given permission to fly on saturday but not on sunday. will the insurer use the fact they violated regulations to deny coverage and compensation to the families which would be tragic. >> as you know the news today is they are saying the black boxes, they are pretty sure they will find them tomorrow. how will this open up the investigation? >> critical. the digital flight data recorder, the cockpit voice recorder will tell us what

happened. everyone believes it was a weather related event. what impact did the weather have? did the pilots enter an aerodynamic stall? did the engines become ingested with ice which prevented them from functioning properly? it all depends. the cvr records communications in the cockpit and digital flight data record will tell investigators what the aircraft was doing will be critical and will give answers to what happened. >> i know the families will be looking for answers. of course you have litigated a number of aviation disasters. what are the attorneys for the families looking for at this point especially now with the new information you mentioned it may impact -- >> first thing is recovery of the victims. absolute number one priority. then get the black boxes so we can understand what happened. with respect to legal issues, that's a question for the insurance industry whether they will use this violation to deny coverage to the families. i understand that initially there was a letter sent out that

provided initial compensation to the familieses of $24,000 each, if they want it. that would say hopefully the insurance market is going to do the right thing and compensate the families. but that remains to be seen as we move forward. >> without that it changes -- not to focus on the monetary aspect -- but it changes how much they could get. singapore, indonesia have different compensation. >> absolutely. under indonesia law they were party to an old treaty which limits compensation to a smallment amount of oh money. indonesia -- singapore was the more mo attorney treaty. i think the insurance market will make decisions. they need to do the right thing and compensate the families. >> doug, thank you so much. >> you're welcome. >> thank you. the centers for disease control are describing this season's flu season as a bad one. it's an epidemic. spreading now to 36 states. coming up, we'll tell you how to protect yourself and your family

the deaths of at least 60 people. it spread to 36 states. how can you prevent getting the flu? does the flu shot work? what can we do to protect our family? this scares me. the one year i didn't get the shot , man, oh man i was out of it with the influenza. it's bad. >> this is a particularly severe nasty strain this year. the predominant strain in 90% of cases is something called an h3n2. that's the protein s on the surface of the flu. the flu molecule, the virus itself is a little package of rna, genetic material. it hops cell to cell and this flu can get you very sick. the last two times this strain depredominated we had twice as much hospitalization as we had otherwise. the very young and the very old are sus september able to this. the flu is an enabler. it knocks down your immune

response. next thing you know pneumonia, bronchitis, science infections. that's what lands you in the hospital. i want to tell people what to look out for. in the medical community we use a term called influenza-like illness. this is important. fatigue is number one. we used to call it the grippe. it makes you knocked down. >> you can feel it in your bones. >> one day you start feeling achy. >> muscle and bone aches. that's the virus. fatigue, headache, sore throat. those are the issues. a little bit of nasal congestion. if you're coughing up a bunch of crap that's not the flu. the flu is fatigue. >> tamiflu? does that help? >> if you catch it early i'm a fan of tamiflu. special in high risk groups. stay home. bedrest, fluids get the fever down. if you get sicker, see a doctor. >> if the current vaccine isn't work withing against the strain out there should you get the flu shot? >> that's a very good question. there is a lot of debate going

on. as a physician, every doctor recommends to get -- there is 160 million vaccine s out there. everyone is recommending to get it. i'm debating even among ourselves whether we should just recommend it to everyone out there. if you are a high risk one children over 6 months adults over 65, if you have lung disease, asthma, copd, pulmonary, kidney heart disease, those should be getting vaccinations. the complication of flu is a disaster. that can kill you. last year we had 109 kids that died. this year only so far 15. cdc for the first time apologized that the vaccine isn't working well. maybe around 40% to 50% efficiency. the problem with the flu is it's unpredictable. doesn't tell you what's going on. we have to predict in march what's going on in october. perhaps with ebola and other things the cdc didn't come up with the right formula. i think part of the issue with

flu is there are so many combinations. you have h and n. h is the particle -- you have 17 of them -- that binds to the cell and makes it spread. you have h1n1, h2n2. there is some mutation. that's the problem. should even get vaccines i think you should talk to your doctor and personalize it. the side effects aren't bad. there are cases of a neurologic disease. those are rare. i know people are concerned about this. most of the time the symptoms are just soreness. but tamiflu, if you have symptoms of flu in the first 12 to 24 hours, tamiflu, 75 grams works well and shortens the period. >> go to the doctor and ask for a prescription. then ask about washing hands. there is a study in an office. 80 people in the office. he put a fake virus on one surface. >> fake?

>> i don't know what it was. within four hours half the office, they found the virus on everybody. when you go and type, touch the doorknob, pick up the telephone. how can you stop the flu virus from spreading? what's the best thing to do? >> that's a great point. although most of the time it's respiratory, from someone coughing and sneezing on you though you can get it by touch. washing your hands for sure. i'm not a fan of the other point you made which is should we stock pile tamiflu? no. then everybody will use it inappropriately. your doctor should tell you and hopefully there will be enough. in terms of the flu shot i believe in it. last time we had drift and the virus changed and mutated. it was still 40% effective. in a severe flu season, 40% is better than nothing at decreasing the risk of going to the hospital or seeing a doctor in an urgent care center. two days ago i brought my 9-year-old in to see the pediatrician. she said spell football.

he's busy spelling football and she's sticking him with the shot. he still tried to kick her. >> they should come up with a better vaccine. the technology of the vaccines are old. we need to do better than 40%. >> i agree with that. >> going back, washing hands is not only important but you touch your eyes. when you start rubbing your eyes that's when the dirt and viruses can get into your system. also sneeze in your sleeve or a handkerchief. >> the vampire. >> absolutely important. finally -- >> dracula. >> if you are sick stay home. you're going to contaminate everyone. that's the most important thing. >> bottom line except for those who don't need it, get the shot. >> to david's point, they have the ability to make a flu shot that will last ten years and will cover every strain. we need money in that. they better get it out here . >> we need better vaccines.

are you addicted to sugar in many americans say they are despite the warnings about its effect on our health. how much should we be consuming of the sweet stuff? is there an easy way to cut back? before we answer the questions i would like for the doctor to explain what it is that sugar does to the body. >> this is probably the most important segment of 2015. i truly believe in it. we know sugar is causing all the

problems that we have. heart disease, obesity. it's all the secret behind the issues that we are having. so the big question is how is sugar a toxic material? we never thought about sugar as a silent killer. it increase it is visceral fat. fat around the belly isn't as bad as fat around the organs. it loads up the liver so the extra cholesterol can get into the system and cause heart disease. that's how sugar affects us. sugar can increase insulin and growth factors which there are more studies coming from harvard that it may cause cancer growth and tumor. they can get in the receptor cells, attract sugar and cause increases in cancer. we are finding out sugar is addictive like heroin rock cocaine. it could be addictive. there are studies shown that when you take the sugary drinks

on mri, the reward sentcenter signals can go off. you build a tolerance like any other drug. sugar isn't good for you. the american heart association tells you that you should only take 6 to 9 teaspoons. we are taking over 20. this is a disaster. we want people to know. there are already 30 40 sugars out there. high fructose corn syrup, lactose, fructose, sucrose. they are all in our bread yogurt, everything that you may think is healthy. sugar is there. >> so look at the ingredients and say don't -- stay away from sugar? artificial sweeteners as an alternative? >> i want to start with that point. we need to know where the sugar is. it's not where we are looking for it. it's in bread. people say well, i can have bread. you can't. it has sugar, salt. soda pop is loaded. i want to give a shout out to a

little boy in montana who cut out all soda pop, all fruit juice, all kinds of drinks including water that has sugar water, fruit water, for a year. and juices. he made $500. if you did it with your kids give them $500 if for a year they don't have sugar. the fda has come out now saying if you are in a restaurant with more than 20 chain restaurants has to put on the label of the food exactly what the calories are, the sugar content, the salt content and alcohol beverages aren't excluded which is important. people don't realize full bodied beer, blue moon or sam adams, over 150 calories. light beer has under 100. >> one thing we talked about bread like wheat bread. look at whole wheat. some have sugar in them. others don'tment. >> you would never know because there is no label. the fda has new guidelines that

if you are a restaurant over 20 branches you have to put the amount of sugar, amount of calories on the processed food out there. >> exactly. >> the problem with sugar is it's hidden in a lot of food. fat was a huge problem. over the years we took care of fat. so the trans-fats in the restaurants are going down. sodium is a problem. we talked about sodium and the american heart association is doing a great job getting sodium out of the food. i have said many times don't add salt to your food. this is another recommendation. get rid of oh sugar if you want to live. >> club soda and that sort of thing. >> love that. that's a substitute. >> polar is based in massachusetts. they have incredible flavors and no sugar. >> that's really good. you can do the substitution thing at home. that's where it works. a. p. diddy a survey and found americans want this information. over 50% of americans want to know at the restaurant what is the calorie breakdown.

they don't care about vitamins and minerals. they care about sugar salt and fat. get it out of the food at the restaurants and the grocery stores. we have more information at the grocery stores than the restaurants. but americans want to know even more. >> i would love to know what the content is. i love it. >> that's the battle of the obesity epidemic. >> a lot of it has to do with high fructose corn syrup. that's the way the food becomes tasty. once you take the fat out, it becomes like cardboard. by adding this it's addictive. so read about it. i think that's the way we'll get rid of obesity. it's difficult to be self-disciplined if you have all the sugar around. certainly don't add. when i talk about drinking coffee i have said don't add sugar. remember that. >> drink black coffee. >> i treat diabetes high blood pressure and heart disease. they all come from obesity which is because the sugar is converted to fat in the body. >> too sweet.

different things. number one nighttime. when you don't really stretch your legs as much as you would like to. you wake up in the morning with cramps. one third of people as they get oldercramps. one-third of all people as they get older get leg cramps. the reason for that is they have less electrolytes. you got to watch out for calcium, magnesium potassium, phosphorous. if you're on diuretics you're more likely to have this problem, if you're on birth controls, you are more likely to have this problem. pregnancy causes this problem. people who exercise a lot tend to get this problem. so when you stop exercising, stretch. stretch before you exercise and use those drinks like gatorade that have a lot of electrolytes in them. >> the stuff you mention, if you take a vitamin -- >> no, it has to be a liquid. you have to hydrate. >> i agree, that's the best way, the combination of the liquid and electrolytes. when i go mountain biking they give us jelly beans and these fluids. it is all about this cramping.

>> it really depends on the kwaus cause of what this leg cramp is. dehydration is number one cause of leg cramps. number one. the first thing you want to do is just drink water. that could take care of this. another reason, as you run or as you walk you start having leg cramps. when you stop, the pain goes away. that could be a vascular disease. you can have some sort of atherosclerosis or cleft ralcholesterol black in those vessels. if you're taking medications, that could cause muscle pain. the genel pain you get from statens is more proximal -- >> what do you mean statens? >> meaning it is a general pain above the knee. once you stop the medication, it goes away. this leg cramp could be from liver disease, from thyroid disease. >> or kidney disease. >> or kidney disease.

the night restless leg that marc is talking about that probably would wake up your wife. that's most likely genetics. we don't have treatment for it. it is good to get massage, warm bath sometimes and just rest. a lot of times when you stretch in the middle of the night you maybe pulling on those messles and you get a real knob. i'm sure his wife is not happy about that. >> differentiate between benign causes and some of the other causes like vascular disease and kidney disease. you have to see your doctor about these things. dehydration is number one. i also want to clarify, the reason my wife wakes up in the middle of the night is because i snore. not because i have those leg cramps. >> if your mag neednesium or poe taz yum is potassium without your doctor's recommendation
