feeling that they're not getting a fair shake from the justice system. and i think that at times that's true. but, generally speaking, i don't think it's true. it's a false narrative. would i be wrong? i think the goal for everyone, the police officers and the civilians is to get home safely that evening. so, when these encounters happen, as you look deeper into each case, you see armed police officer. unarmed individual who just so happens to be black. you would think that interaction wouldn't result in to someone's death. when that continues to happen, and it's happening in the country that we did, unfortunately, have slavery we had segregation. so, these relationships take time to repair. but. >> it doesn't happen very much. it happens inpro-partial natalie. it doesn't happen very much. when lebron james and other athletes go out with t-shirts that say hands up,

to tell everybody that you in addition to your commentary, put your money where your mouth is. that you are trying to repair relations between the police and the the young black people in the city of detroit. just tell us about that. >> when i started the jaylen rose leadership academy a tuition-free charter public high school in my hometown, one of my goals was to put a police mini station in our school because a lot of times when that interaction happens, there is tension involved and you don't get to see the chance to see that interaction happen when it's friendly. so unfortunately, detroit doesn't have the funding for police mini stations anymore. the idea didn't come to fruition, it's very important for us to have that interaction when it's not hostility involved. >> all right. and your academy is funded by private donations? >> yes. tuition free public charter. we are state funded but our goal is to bridge the education gap through funding, through

somebody in their pajamas in idaho could be making up scientific studies. >> why do you think people believe -- i keep saying don't believe what you read on the net. a lot of partisan stuff money stuff, they want you to buy stuff. don't believe it. >> i studied the breakdown of trust in america, something i really focused on. we've lost faith in institutions, in government, in media, in politicians so we turn to the everyman and we think that we can find the everyman on google. and so we believe if there are two studies, one from a well respected scientific institution and one from a virtual nobody, they get the same amount of weight. >> of weight on google. because nobody knows, particularly kids, from the time they're 8 or 9, they're addicted to this thing and this is their whole life. then they come up and they say stuff, that's not true. they don't even believe the facts any more. >> they don't. they challenge their facts. you can go on to google and you can find whatever facts you want. pick any story out there give me 15 minutes on google i can
