[ gunfire ] >> gunmen on the loose in paris. at least a dozen are dead. masked men armed with automatic weapons stormed a satirical newspaper that published cartoons of the prophet muhammad.

[ inaudible ] >> this vicious terror attack is a reminder that we must always be vigilant against the enemies of freedom. >> today's deadly terror attack has everyone on edge. standing by is fox's own catherine herridge. >> french authorities are confirming they have identified three of the suspects, two of the men are brothers and french nationals. fox news has independently learned that the french i kwif lent of an all points bulletin was released shortly after the shooting identifying the men giving their ages as 18, 32 and 34. fox news understands their names

have been shared with the fbi. >> we are working with them, we will do everything we can to help them bring to justice of the atrocities that happened in paris. >> at this hour celebratory chatter on jihadi hash tags of twitter accounts. fox news has confirmed that u.s. investigators are reviewing the databases of known terror suspects including those who have recently traveled to syria. that process includes the review of video footage from the scene security camera footage as well as physical evidence from that crime scene. what is striking to current and former intelligence officials is this level of premeditation, the skill and comfort level with the weapons. and the cell's ability to extract itself suggesting reconnaissance was done in advance on the target. >> this was extremely well coordinated. it was very deadly. the terrorists knew exactly what

they were doing who they were after. and to me the question is was this organized entirely within paris, or was there any international involvement as far as the preparation for it. that to me is the key. >> and tonight government sources confirm they are exploring the likelihood the cell was connect today a known terrorist group, possibly al qaeda in north africa or aqim al qaeda in yemen or a group based in syria. this was a small cell attack and a clear departure from the lone wolf operations we saw in ottawa and sydney australia, sean. >> catherine thank you tonight. also standing by on the ground in paris is fox's own greg palkot. greg, what's the latest? >> reporter: sean, french police are confirming more details about these suspects. they inspect confirm to us the reports are accurate that says at least one of them already had a terror conviction, that he was involved in sending french young men over to iraq a few years ago

to fight against american forces there. this all went down just after or around noontime wednesday paris time when those two gunmen stormed into the offices of the satirical newspaper here. one thing they said in in addition to alla akbar was, we are avenging the prophet. because that newspaper had printed cartoons of the muslim prophet muhammad. after they left they left a scene of carnage. 12 people killed including two police. 11 people injured including four critically. there was another shootout with police. one policeman was executed. and another shootout and then they were gone. 500 added reinforcements are now with police searching for them. and also according to french president hollande guarding the various public facilities here in paris and across france to make sure this doesn't happen

again as this french country grieves. ask my cameraman pierre just to shoot what we are standing next to. it is a makeshift memorial that has been building hour by hour. you see the candles, the flowers, the messages. there have been big rallies here and really across europe because not only have people been killed, but the idea of freedom of expression that you can put whatever you want in a newspaper and put it out there might have been injured today in the attack as well. the people here are saying no way. there will be three days of national mourning beginning on thursday. back to you. >> all right. greg palkot in paris and the assassination of 12 and including the policeman. catherine field joining us. >> good evening. yes, i think the one person that really stands out has been the man who is editor of charlie

hebdo. now, he's really been at the forefront of what charlie hebdo has been about these last couple of years, which is really to just sort of poke at the islamist faith and willingness to get to not publish pictures of the prophet muhammad. they've been publishing cartoons of the prophet muhammad for several years. the french government had been saying please stop it please don't make things worse. now the editor in chief was saying he will abide by the laws of france on blasphemy and press freedom. he wasn't going to be -- what he should and shouldn't be done at charlie hebdo. he gave an interview in 2012 which he reinforce thd desire to uphold -- and he said at the time it might sound a bit

pompous pompous, but i prefer to die standing than live on my knee. >> thank you for joining us. now joining us with response to today easter's terror tack, ed henry. a lot of criticism? >> he was, sean initially. ask then josh earnest sort of amended that and said, yes, it was a terror attack. and the president who by the way was caught off guard as well he wanted today to be all about an event where he was cheerleading the economy in detroit the rebound of the auto industry. he had to pull together top advisers and the vice president secretary of state john kerry and the oval office to say, wait a second this was indeed a terror attack. interesting though because the president also in his comments spoke out on behalf of freedom of expressions specifically this newspaper and their ability to publish these anti-muhammad cartoons. but it's interest fg you contrast that in an address to

the u.n. general assembly you'll remember in september 2012 just days after the benghazi terror attacks, the president wasn't quite as aggressive about speaking out about freedom of expression in these kind of cases. >> a universal belief of freedom in expression is something that can't be silenced because of the senseless violence of a few. the future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of islam, but to be credible those who condemn that slander must also condemn the hate we see in the images of jesus christ that are desecrated. >> now, you'll remember in that speech the president blamed benghazi on this anti-muhammad video though he did note he would not ban the video because of free speech in this country. but a week earlier before that u.n. general assembly speech the then-white house press secretary jay carney said that the french newspaper had the ability to publish these

anti-muhammad cartoons. but interesting he questioned their judgment in publishing them, sean. >> all right. where does this stop? ed henry at the white house tonight. ed, thank you very much. i know it's cold out there. thank you. >> thank you. >> so are today's events in paris a wakeup call to the world about radical islamists? here with reaction fox news military analyst lieutenant colonel ralph peters. lieutenant, good to see you. it seems if you watch in recent years it's not just france but all of europe there's been a major influx, immigration, people from muslim countries. they've even -- and not assimilated, they've separated. they have no-go zones. if you're not muslim, you're not allowed. not police or fire department if there's a fire. sharia courts have been allowed to be established. prayer rugs in just about every hotel. is this a major mistake made by france, europe in general? are we making that mistake in the united states not insisting on assimilation?

welcome back to "hannity." at least 12 people are dead following a horrific terror attack against a satirical newspaper in france. the attack carried out against a heavily armed hooded gunmen. radical london imam a guy by the name of imam chaudhry, took to twitter at the slaughter tweeting "freedom of expression does not extend to insulting the prophets of allah, whatever your views on the events in paris today are." he also tweeted muslims love the messenger muhammad more than their parents, children and even themselves. why don't people understand.

you sound like you basically support what happened today. >> no, what i'm saying is these things need to be put into context. these people are talking about a french government who refuse muslims to build mosques now in paris. they are engaged in muslim and -- >> you're making -- you're justifying this. they went in and slaughtered a newspaper, a satirical newspaper makes fun of the pope and catholics and all religions and politicians and everybody. but you do have in france many no-go zones where non-muslims are not allowed to go and fire departments and police departments are not allowed to go. you do have sharia court. you're characterization is not completely accurate about france. >> well, i think the political landscape in europe has in fact shifted. many right wing organizations are now allowed to aspouse their

let me start with you. he says that is the true islam, do you agree? >> first of all, with god's name the most gracious and merciful i want to offer my condolences to the families of the victims of that terrible cowardly murder that took place in paris. and the quran is the correct islam, sean. not what mr. chaudhry thinks. islam makes it crystal clear that no compulsion, no matter what the situation may be in islam, islam offers freedom, justice and equality. >> does it really offer freedom as practice under sharia for women, for gays, for lesbians, for apostates? as it's practiced in iran and saudi arabia, is it really freedom? is it being practiced? because that's not the case.

welcome back to "hannity." so france is on high alert after today's deadly terror attack that left 12 people dead. investigators are working around the clock to put the pieces together. so could a similar attack happen here at home? joining me now terrorism expert steve emerson. i want to talk bt the growth in population of people moving to france from muslim countries. you have these no-go zones. you have sharia courts that they've allowed. i assume the french they wanted

to be accepting and accommodating and not insisting on assimilation. has that played a part in this? and is that something we have to be on alert now? >> perhaps, sean. when i was in brussels a year ago when i asked police to take me to the islamic zone or the islamic community area they refused. they said we don't go there. this goes on in sweden and netherlands and france, it goes on in italy. it goes on throughout europe. so there are no-go zones. >> hang on. no-go zone means no non-muslims no police, no fire their own court system. so basically these countries have allowed muslims to take over parts of their country, entire portions towns. >> these are semiautonomous countries within countries in which the federal governments there have basically given up,

surrendered their autonomy and goes against the entire grain after world war ii was to integrate everybody into not socialist democracy but pluralistic and worked. everyone was supposed to be equal. what has happened however with the migration of muslims -- it's not all muslims, but domination of muslims within countries particularly in france has been by radical islamic groups, the mosques, islamic centers and theyin fuse the islamic population with a militant strain of islam that teaches them the infidel has to be killed and the crusaders like the french and jews and americans have to be killed or punished like today. and this goes on and on and on. and the reaction unfortunately as we saw this morning from the president or the prime minister of france or from cameron of

britain is this has nothing to do with islam, this is just a simple act of violence and that islam is a religion of peace. when they say those things they exonerate the leaders of islamic communities throughout europe and the militants themselves are given a free pass. >> so when you point out -- the next logical question then, steve, is, okay, what about visas for people coming from muslim countryiescountries? what about people that come to america that are muslim? i'm sure the average american believes in freedom of religion, they don't want to discriminate they don't want to be called islam o phobic. how do you balance the two if people are coming from muslim countries, how do you determine if they hold radical views, if they want sharia implemented in america like this guy chaudhry i talked about? >> well, you raise a very good question because that's the role. you know, there are dhs officers planted, placed overseas in u.s. embassies in certain countries

that have produced disproportionate numbers of terrorists like in egypt or saudi arabia or elsewhere. their role is to collect the -- on the visa applicants coming to the united states. the problem has been under this administration that dhs has specifically instructed dhs agents overseas to basically not do their job, to not collect this intelligence. and when the intelligence has been collected, to show that the applicants coming to the united states with the visas in hand have radical backgrounds either connected to the muslim brotherhood, connected to the taliban, connected to even isis. they've been told to look away. i can tell you that personally having discussions with dhs officials and other agents from dhs who operated an environment that's orwelian. >> do you think france can get control of their country again and take over these no-go zones, stop sharia courts?

i know prayer rugs are in just about every hotel if you go to paris. i have a friend of mine that travels there quite often. do they have the ability now to stop this? either assimilate or you have to go? >> that's a great question. i think they've reached critical mass frankly. i've said this before i think europe is finished. >> you think it's finished? >> there's a point -- >> a number in france actually support isis, over 1,000 french have gone to join isis. so you're saying you don't think they can recover. that's there's too many radical islamists that have taken over this portion of that country and it would be a war to take it back? >> they wouldn't take it back. they refuse to take it back. sweden just engineered this artificial political coalition designed to stop any type of immigration prohibitions until

agenda. why not handle it that way? why do it this way? >> conservatives who think he's done a lousy job of speaker. as a matter of fact, sean, those 25 patriots who didn't vote for him are in line with the vast majority of the republicans. as you know by profession he's a pollster, 60% of republicans in this country obviously outside the beltway, do not want john boehner as speaker. and about 85% or 90% of the republicans in the house do. and several of those freshmen who said they would not vote for boehner as leader did. very cynical. let me just tell you this, under john boehner he has adopted nancy pelosi's policies. the members don't get to read these massive omnibus bills 72 hours in advance. they're not putting legislation through committees and subcommittees so they know

what's going on and the american people can participate in the process. the entire summer while he was leading these re-election efforts and so forth and so on, he was working a back deal with obama to pass the biggest spending dea in american history and to fund every penny of obamacare. do you know what the boehner legacy is right now, sean? in the last four years he's been the biggest spending . >> it seems that the message is if you listen to your constituents and you vote your conscience, which i thought republicans would that there is going to be a heavy price to pay. is there a way to rectify this? what do you think? >> yes, well, it's too bad he and 4, 5 others didn't follow the lead of the 25 patriots because then boehner would have gone to a second round and maybe

not conducting himself this way. here is the problem sean. what do they do? nothing. we go back in 2014, and give them a bigger massive majority. here is another problem we control republicans and conservatives. more state legislators than any time in modern history. they go back and make these republican members more comfortable so we get more of the same in washington we think we're voting to reverse course and stop obama, to embrace the constitution, look at what is going on. what is boehner doing today? has he given a thought on how to reverse the constitutional conduct? about the debt that is so high it's unbelievable? c$wex01"t vá)jju$e
