pay it out. if you owe money it won't go to your tax refunds at least for now. it is suspending a debt collection program in which thousands of people have tax refunds to recoup over payments that happened over a decade ago. there is a catch. the debts don't go away. when the debtors start receiving retirement benefits social security can deduct the debts from their payments. it had identified 400,000 people with old debts totalling $714 million about 4 r5 5 million debts of $1,000. some payments went to college students. the debts had disability benefits that were still paid even after the person's health approved. survivor benefits was for people who dropped out of school. it was on hold while officials hold possible changes.
