vigilant. >> the phenomenon of violent extremism this is a problem that causes great heart ache and tragedy and destruction. it is one that ultimately we will defeat. >> the president also issued a plea to europe to not respond harshly following one of the worst terror attacks on its soil. >> our biggest advantage major, is that our muslim populations, they feel themselves to be americans. the parts of europe in which that is not the case. and that's probably the greatest danger that europe faces. it's important for europe not to simply respond with a hammer and law enforcement and military approaches to these problems. >> let's start with that one.

we will get back to whether or not who called them islamic extremists. president obama right there said don't respond with a hammer recommending europe not respond with a hammer. i'm shaking my head. couldn't believe he said that. >> i mean, it is a caution for these countries that have huge muslim populations that you don't want to have -- you don't want to just divide that community and force them to make a decision on which side they will be on. that worries me about this. these people are making head way to a point. now it is sort of stalled here. if they get more aggressive what are they going to do? >> they just had 17 people killed on their soil. >> how many have been saved? >> we don't know. we know there is a mass attack that they may have had information to stop and didn't. would you recommend the president make that analogy don't use a hammer?

>> not necessarily the words i would have used. i think he was trying to say to europe we have done a better job in america of assimilating our muslims. you need to do a better job of that. i'm not so sure that is the case. the scale of it on the numbers are very different than a number of muslim americans is much lower percentage wise than france. also france and the rest of europe have programs and outreach and ways to try to assimilate and assimilation is also a choice. it's not that the french people haven't tried. i think the immigrants have decided that they want to remain kind of close enough to unity. i think the president was a little too harsh on europe there. >> too harsh on -- >> suggesting -- i think he was too harsh suggesting that europe has not done enough to assimilate. i think assimilation is a

choice. >> be more like america. i don't know. no? >> i am saying the muslim population are making a choice. >> greg, it feels to me like he is just too soft on terror. >> you shouldn't like accuse europe of responding to this with a tool because they are not the ones running around with axes. he is saying europe has to do better to assimilate them. it avoids the elephant in the room, the cowardice of the establishment in confronting the danger because they have this huge fear of upsetting the radicals. they are worried about this idea of a backlash. muslims burn down christian churches and shops run by christians a real backlash that you don't hear about because it doesn't fit into the assumptions of the media. the backlash is supposed to be

us against them but it is not. it is them against us. and until you actually admit that maybe president obama should talk to bill and consult the mindset of a terrorist and find out what makes them tick. >> if he is saying you shouldn't use a hammer in europe i would be okay with it as long as he said you shouldn't be bull dozing these people into obolivian. i am shocked he stood up there and showed the difference between the two. you want to talk about that or the fact that cameron said islamist extremist terrorists. >> i don't want to get caught up in the rhetoric. president obama said they should use a hammer. they should use an ak 47. david cameron and others and the leaders before him have turned the cheek because of political correctness. now, it is a bit different than the united states what is happening in france and germany and belgium. a lot of these countries in

northern africa that are seeing the rise of islamists were former colonies. they asked these countries to send workers to come into the society and work there. they haven't become assimilated. they decided not to do that. they are also getting checks from a very socialist government. they can go back and forth. they are not working with unemployment in france above 22% for young people. they are right for radicalization. they can say whatever they want radical, islamist. it is the policies and the immigration policies in the uk and france. until cameron and others have the guts to do something policy wise they are not going to fix this problem. it is only going to get worse. david cameron this was a big campaign commercial for him. unlike president obama the reason he had harsher rhetoric is he knows people in england want to hear those words. that's why he went through the

laundry list of getting the spice girls back together, bringing beckham back, finding a wife for prince harry. what else did he tout himself doing? >> do it the way we do it here. we don't do it well at all. look at new york city. >> president obama was saying look how we do it. >> the muslims are concentrated in one neighborhood. we know that is true about virtually every post world war ii immigration movement in this country have assimilated or lived in the same area. they live with each other. that's where they feel comfortable. >> i'm not saying we are doing it right. i'm saying president obama said we do it right here. >> the reason why he said that is because so far the response to terror has been a reactive one because his priorities are not in order. he spends more time demonizing a pipeline than pipe bombs.

when you ask about this he has to down play it as though we are always getting around to terror on the list of things we got to get to. there is the environment, climate change and all of this other stuff. >> this is a great transition. president obama addressed negotiations with iran with a warning not to iran but to congress. >> why is it that we would have to take actions that might jeopardize the possibility of getting a deal over the next 60 to 90 days? if this diplomatic solution fails then the risks and likelihood that this ends up being at some point a military confrontation is heightened. i will veto a bill that comes to my desk. we'll see how persuasive i am. if i am not persuading congress i will be taking my case to the american people on this. >> he said he has his priorities and spends too much time demonizing the wrong people.

he is demonizing the american people in congress rather than the bad guys. >> for him it is never a partisan issue when he is making the point. when you disagree with him it is always a partisan issue. i think the problem for a lot of us is that we don't trust him as a negotiator. when you hear him talking about iran it is like you are watching the opposite of the world series of poker where you see the world's worst player get his clock clean by casual players who have been doing this for a while. you think he is going to give away everything including the white house. >> thoughts on this one? >> i think what greg said is really important. what is he going to give away. what is he giving away? i am wondering if he is willing to sacrifice his entire middle east strategy by perhaps working with iran. i wonder if there is a deal that has been done. we talk on this network about the time the white house has reached out. i'm wondering if he is trying to cut a deal with iran to try to defeat isis because he needs

their help. either he doesn't know how to do it so he is willing to sacrifice the security or some kind of deal with him by taking concessions off the table for something bigger. i don't understand what the incentive would be for iran now. they are running out the clock and taking a knee and saying he doesn't have the wherewithal to stop us so we will take advantage of them. >> you at this table for the last 2 1/2 years have said the sanctions against iran were working. obama pulled the sanctions and says he will warn and veto legislation that would put the -- >> we don't know whether the negotiations will work out or not. why not try? you want to bomb it right now? if we want to do that -- i understand that. we don't know the details of the negotiations. we don't know whether sanctions are having effect. we know the sanctions -- you have said the sanctions are having a massive effect.

>> i said it is having an impact. >> president obama vetoing a bill that came to the desk, putting sanctions back good idea or bad idea? >> in his foreign policy plan any deal is better than no deal. the best deal for him is the one that kicks the problem down the road for two years and the next president has to dealal with it. then he went on to say i will veto it and then you can bet that i will take my case to the american people. what bob said becomes a communications challenge. on the one hand we are telling the russians we are going to do more sanctions because we think they are effective. on the other hand we are saying to iran we will not have as many sanctions and maybe give you a break because we think that is effective. in the world of foreign policy that makes sense. if you try to take that case to the american people that is more difficult. >> tuesday night state of the union address president obama we heard maybe a preview of that

today. >> given that the white house communications office talked to politico in the last couple of days and basically said we are not really going to do that state of the union thing again and not going to try to lay out a big plan. he is going to use it as a messaging event. tune in. that will be great. >> i don't know what he will say because i think he knows what he wants to do. he doesn't want to say i don't care what you people think in the room. i am going to use my pen and veto it. i will see you in court if you don't like it. he will figure out a fluffy way to talk about the same stuff we have heard him talk about at every other state of the union. >> he has only vetoed two bills in the six years. >> why? >> because harry reid hasn't sent bills. >> i think he is going to try to find one or two pieces of legislation they can agree on. you will hear more about working

recent history. last year "12 years a slave" won for best picture. one of the stars won best supporting actress. her former co-star was nominated for best actor and a nomination last year for "captain phillips." affirmative action for oscar nominations? >> al sharpton can find racism wherever he looks. so we did a little study. who's who on the academy motion picture arts and sciences board. 51 members 39 of them are democrats only two are registered republicans. is al saying democrats are racist in hollywood? if he wants to make the leap that there is race behind who they chose for the nominations i will make the leap saying al thinks democrats in hollywood are racist. >> if you talk to people in hollywood they will tell you that hollywood can be among the

city urban area. you go to a rural area and start there a congressional race or mayor's race. you have to start at a lower end of what you might consider the lower end of the political spectrum. i would say go into a smaller race. work your way to a paying job. >> can we elect dogcatchers? >> some people do. if you are looking into a presidential year should you go to iowa, new hampshire south carolina? >> they have experienced people in those early states. if you are working on presidential race i would get one down the road where it is maybe a may primary caucus and go there where you have a better chance to rise quickly. >> great advice for people. what is your favorite meal? like red meat. where did you have it? your favorite meal you ever had? >> it had to be sushi.

where is the best sushi i ever had? believe it or not a small place in new jersey. you have to understand something. sushi is very expensive in new york city. sometimes it's not the best sushi in the world either. it is the place with the freshest fish and the people buying the fish have access to the docks. they buy the fish off the dock and bring it to the restaurant. sushi in small place in new jersey. >> what's it called? >> sushi lounge. >> it's above a pet shop.
