>> according to the polls, mitt romney is finding support in a possible third bid for the white house. cbs poll find says romney in the lead with 59 percent saying he is run and jeb bush 50 percent. and mike huckabee and sarah palin and chris christie and rand paul round out the top six. and talk about it with karl rove. we have a fox news contributor as well. is it a surprise that 59 percent said romney should run? >> no, not really. put it in perspective jon. it is an early poll and at this point in 2007 barak obama was an asteric. it is a poll of only republicans. and the numbers were among republicans and some states

independents and democrats can vote in the republican primary. it will be a highly fluid contest. i look at the poll and shoes that there is robust interest in having a broad field but be careful about reading to which in to it. what is interesting, everybody breaks down all of those names in four boxes. the first group are the people know upon them and they like them and want him to run. 59 percent would like him to run and 29 percent no. and 15 percent don't have enough information to make a decision. romney, bush and huckabee they like them and want them to run. then a group of they like them and don't know them. rubio 29 percent. and 54 percent don't know him. ben carson. 21- 17 and both initance they have right side up.

guys that are upside down and known. chris christie. 26 percent don't know enough. and rand paul 38 percent don't know enough about him and then the group that can shake things up. look like they are upside down. ted cruz. 21- 25. and the key is no one knows them. 53, 47 and 65. we have four candidates talking about running and upside down today and capable as they win over the undecided and make the race improve dramatically. we have three candidates that passed the bar of acceptable and bunch of others that could in the months ahead dependoth quality and nature of their campaigns. we'll talk about the candidates that are lower on the rung. ted cruz said we nominate another candidate like a bob deal or john mccain or mitt romney. same people who stayed home the

last time will stay home again. he is arguing for a more conservative nominee; what do you think? >> first of all, remember more people turned out in 2012 and voted republican than in 2008 which was 60 million and there are a million more people who voted republican. romney gets 107 of what mccain gets and barak obama got 97 percent of what he had in 2008. in politics it is easy tore define yourself by saying what you are not. it is a lot harder to define by saying what you are. and more powerful to define yourself by what you are. in 2012, winner is articulating a compelling vision of who they are and opposed to defining who they are. look in 1980, you think ronald

reagan won by saying i am not george. bush? no, he had a compelling vision and drew like a maginent people in his camp. and the same thing is true in 2012. marco rubio on the second tier on the list that 59 percent that would go for mitt romney candidacy and 50 percent who think that jeb bush would run, that is all because of name recognition and over the course of a longer campaign and obviously marco rubio expressed about in running for the presidency and over the course of a longer campaign name recognitions are going to it change. >> i think he is partly right. remember those are not 59 percent that say they will vote for romney. it is 59 percent who want romney to run. that number is in large measure. not simply name id.

but he's been on the stage and they think they know things about him that make him attractive. if you are down there with rubio. starting off want him to run and 19 percent don't want him to run. and 54 percent don't know him. the more people know about him and who he is and stands for better chances are for him to move. he and occurson are right side up numbers and they have a lot of people yet to know them. that is a good place yet to start from. >> a moment in the campaign when mitt romney was debating president obama, and the president tried to put down foreign policy credentials and i will play it and get your thoughts on the other side. >> governor romney i am glad you recognize al-qaeda is a threat. a few months ago you said russia, and not al-qaeda, you said russia and the 1980s are

biggest danger that europe faces. here in the the u.s. you have them identifying as americans. but you don't have that in europe. a muslim mayor went on live television that cursed off islam and he said pack up your bags and leave. >> do you get the crisis of identity in europe has to do with the muslim identity being so strong and the national i identity being week. you think that is something to do with that? >> on one hand you have the islamist ideology that breaks down identity and said the west doesn't have a place for you. and that conflicts with national identity. and then forces that want to marginize the muslim community
