good morning to you. you are watching "fox & friends first" on this tuesday. i am heather childers. >> i am ainsley earhardt. thank you for waking up with us early. breaking overnight a catastrophic scene in ohio as an over pass collapses and kills a construction worker. it was an old i-75 bridge that was about to be demolished. >> hundreds of tons of concrete. they used air bags to extricate him from the rubble. a semi crashed into the debris miles after the collapse. a driver recovering from the hospital. police describing the horrific incident. >> it appears the workers on the deck during the demolition of the bridge something happened. we are not sure. that's what the investigation will tell us in the coming hours. >> the highway will be shut down for at least two-days when the road is cleared. we will be live on the scene minutes from çónow.

a oo an over pass collapses and kills a construction worker. >> megan o'rorke is live for us in cincinnati with the latest this morning. >> it is difficult to adequately describe the damage out here this morning. take a look for yourself. the overpass was in the process of being removed interstate 75 north of downtown cincinnati. it was around 10:30 the overpass collapsed injuring a truck driver slammed his rig into the wreckage. however a construction worker was killed his body buried for several hours before being freed around 3:30 this morning after crews used air bags to lift the wreckage offer of them. that victim's name not being released at the time.

homicide detectives are out here right now taking pictures and collecting evidence that has been ruled for industrial accidents. it is important to note the work was as scheduled. the removal of the over pass expected to take the rest of the week. we don't know how much has been completed or what may have compromised the integrity of the over pass. that is something investigators will be asking as well. initially officials told us the road would be reopened within 48-hours. it has been changed to indefinitely. how much debris and how much work still needs to be done. heather and ainsley back to you. >> enjoy it while it lasts. low gas prices might soon begin to sky rocket. loren simonetti net -- lauren simonetti is here with details. >> the president of shell oil

demolished when it collapsed. the worker was buried under hundreds of tons of concrete. they moved the heavy concrete off the man in order to free him. the driver is recovering in a hospital. witnesses say they weren't sure what happened when they heard the collapse. >> i was in the kitchen cleaning up the kitchen and we heard a big loud noise and the building shook. i thought maybe someone went into highmy house with a car. >> it will be shut down indefinitely until the road is the city advising drivers through twitter to plan ahead, leave early expect delays. one person on the ground saying this will be a mess. >> kelly wright. appreciate it.
