i couldn't believe how tall you were. we had talked a million times over satellite but never seen new person. >> i hope it's for the full show. >> great to have you today. >> we have breaking news this morning. what's going on? >> this happening moments ago, breaking news now. president obama canceling the tail end of his trip to india. and we'll head to saudi arabia. >> molly henneberg is live in washington to tell us why this morning. molly? >> good morning tucker, anna, and peter. president obama is still scheduled to leave for india later this hour. instead of flying home to washington on tuesday he will instead leave india and travel to saudi arabia to pay his respects to the late saudi king abdullah. king abdullah died friday and succeeded by his half-brother. initially the white house had said that the vice president joe biden would attend the king's funeral but now word this morning from the white house that the president himself will be going over there. president obama still will

spend sunday and monday in india before leaving on tuesday. he will meet with india's prime minister and will also be the guest of honor at india's republic day parade on monday which commemorates that day in 1950 that india's constitution went into effect. but president obama will not travel to the taj mahal as scheduled on tuesday as he will be headed to saudi arabia to pay his respects to saudi's late king. back to you all in new york. >> thanks a lot molly. appreciate. the president cutting his foreign trip short because he has no choice going to pay respects to but also shore up one of america's last remaining firm allies in the arab world saudi arabia. this after one of our former allies yemen, falls into complete chaos. this will come as a shock to any of you at home watching the president's statements carefully. it was just the other day, figuratively, it was in september of 2014 this fall that the president described

yemen as a stout ally. watch this. >> this strategy of taking out terrorists who threaten us while supporting partners on the front lines is one that we have successfully pursued in yemen and somalia for years. >> they are a place where the american counter terrorism strategy that has been put in place by president obama has succeeded in degrading the threat that those organizations pay to the united states. and we intend to implement an analogous strategy against isil. >> my how things have changed. the rebels have control of the large portion of the capitol it and affecting our counter terrorism efforts there. what does this mean for intelligence gathering if things aren't looking googd. >> we suspended our counter terrorism operations now there now. which is a big deal because when we made the case, when president obama in september made the case we need to go against isis and it's going to work because it's been working in yemen. not working in yemen anymore.

>> had is important for two reasons. first of all chaos is bad when it breaks out. important for two main reasons we have real counter terror operations based in yes, ma'am machine. we have a base there. our predator drone flights have been shut down. second problem is yemen was our ally. you protect them. government of yemen took our side in terror. what do we do in exchange nothing? we sat by while the mob toppled the government? what does it say to the rest of the allies around the government. >> what are we supposed to do because these rebels are enemies of al qaeda i'm sure they would be happy to have us come in there and help them get rid of al qaeda. dismiss al qaeda. is that something that we want to do? >> they are explicitly anti-american iranian backed militia. we had an arrangement with the government of ally. we want more allies rather than few. that's what the president ran on we are going to

increase the allies around the globe it makes us safer. here we had an ally we did nothing to protect the government of yemen. why is a future ally want over say china when we don't have a record of protecting our allies? >> is this the first time that the president has acted in naive fashion and acted credit columbus no says florida congressman ron desan tis. he says the president has done this time and time again. take a listen. >> whether it's libya or his involvement in syria and of course now having cited yemen we are now looking at a situation where you will have iranian backed militants seize control of the government. the moderate sunni establishment who we had been allied with, they are being pushed out. that's going to actually give al qaeda in the arabian peninsula more berth to be able to operate. they are a very lethal group. this is going south very quickly i think the president was just naive back in september when he cited it as a success story. >> yeah and apparently we

had no idea this was happening. our intelligence services didn't know this was happening. this problem unresolved, there are many americans many hundreds of americans in yemen in the embassy u.s. military personnel. marine guards, a lot of u.s. citizens in yemen. they are there. should they stay? >> should we bring them home? >> can this become a hostage situation where they're trapped there. >> interesting when the white house answers that v.a. and the irs. they said we learned about this in news reports. >> of course. >> this is in the the first foreign government to fall where the white house apparently had no idea at all right up until the last moment. >> switch gears now to go to our janice dean covering extreme weather. right now a fast moving storm dumping rain, snow and sleet on the northeast and new england. it's the first major storm of 2015 hitting 16 states from tennessee to maine. some areas could see up to 8 inches of snow today. janice dean is tracking it all for us. janice?

sleeping a helicopter crash has left two marines dead. this happened during a training exercise at a base in southern california at this hour. the marine corps is not releasing their names. no word on what brought that chopper down. a suspected terrorist charged with murdering five u.s. soldiers will face a federal judge in new york today. faruq mohammed is accused of organizing the 2009 attack at a u.s. base in iraq. five servicemen died when a truck full of explosives blew up at the base's gait. he is a canadian citizen. he was arrested there four years ago but was recently extradited to the united states. sarah palin for president? the former alaskan governor telling reporters at a las vegas charity event, of course she is interested in running. she will be joining other possible candidates later today at the iowa freedom summit. and those are your headlines. yeah a couple dozen republicans.

proposal by governor scott walker? >> i don't understand the consistent fascination that politicians like scott walker have to do with the urine of poor people. drug testing people for public assistance has been proposeness other states. consistently at best it will prove to be unconstitutional as it has been in other states. at worst it will be unconstitutional and a waste of taxpayers' dollars. other states that have tried this very few people ever turn up with positive drug test. not true that poor people use drugs at higher rate. they have less rate. >> that's apples to oranges. that's a completely different issue because the people who may be on drugs who aren't taking government handouts aren't subsidizing their habits by the taxpayer you and me, right dr. murray? >> unfortunately i think the guest is inaccurate in what the studies have shown. there is the issue of the higher prevalence rate amongst the poor, the unemployed, and the people who are assistance. studies at health and human

services and the national survey have shown drug rates at least twice that of the regular population and some instances young women 18 to 24 if they are receiving aid for families with dependent children as many as 37% of them have dependency problems with drugs and alcohol. >> about yeah but the department of health and human services looked at this program in different states around the country and did not find that it yielded any positive results. when tennessee put this policy into practice they got one positive drug did test after. florida the cost of the program itself it's not free and fighting it in the courts spent over half a million dollars. it wastes taxpayers' dollars. there are very few. the other states it will be handful out of maybe 1,000 or more people who get tested. it's really not effective. all it is a way of politically posturing with something that's meaningless. >> the way governor walker explains it the state will offer free treatment and free job training for anybody who does tests

it was here in new york they closed up an investigation a local corruption investigation. the feds came in and said we are charging. they have a right to do that. there are different laws. there are federal laws violated and the feds can prosecute if the state doesn't. it's okay for them to do that in fact, i am happy there is another agency overlooking. but the problem was in this case really the state came in and insinuated that there was wrongdoing and that kind of fed the fire that was already being fed by the you know racial profilers. now they have gone through it all. i could have told you from the beginning, in fact i did say in the beginning there is no federal violation. now they are saying there is no federal violation. we have had rioting and looting and buildings burned down. the officer's shooting in my opinion as a former police officer was justified he would have shot him whether he was white brown, hispanic.

argument, somehow chris kyle's life was political, the movie is political. is this inherently political? >> it makes no sense to me at all. chris kyle was doing his job as a volunteer american army, and then he volunteered to go into the s.e.a.l.s and volunteered to be a sniper the most dangerous job out there, so there's nothing political about this at all. the guy's a hero. i don't know why they would plitt politicize it at all. these men and women who have been over there fighting for our country and freedom for a long time it shows how difficult it is to transition back into civilian lifestyle and so many of them doing that it's an important story. i think that's one of the reasons it's resonating this people. >> you wonder how the left can see chris kyle as bloodthirsty, faced with killing a woman or

you got to look at your political headlines this morning, the up official kickoff for the race in 2016 for president. nearly a dozen republicans considering a run for the white house and testing out their messages at the iowa freedom summit. speakers include senator ted cruz of texas, governor chris christie of new jersey and former governor mike huckabee of arkansas and sarah palin told charity supporters "of course" she's interested in running for president. we'll get details as they emerge. democrats announced their party will host the 2016 national convention the week of july 25th, that's a month earlier than normal and a week after the republican convention. democrats are still deciding where that convention will be. reporters, as always, rooting for new orleans. >> tucker, thanks. 25 minutes after the hour. is it ever okay to have a

together. to have the financial conversation discuss what your goals are and what you want to do with that money. also, you need to be on the same financial page it comes with talking. if you're not going to be listen the same financial page that's when you start having this mistrust and you know, financial infidelity that goes on here. >> is there a best way to do it, like having a certain amount that each spouse gets to splurge on or should you have separate accounts and one account that goes toward the bills? >> right. >> what's your advice on that? >> i tell people have one account that you have the overhead costs where you take both overhead costs out the mortgage payments, the electric bills, and then you have your two separate accounts. but again, you need to talk about the splurge account. you always have to have a splurge account, have that as another secondary together account, where you take money out of that and make purchases. but again always make sure you're on the same page in terms of what you want to spend.
