it's almost super bowl sunday. but the deflategate is looming over the patriots -- heads. >> i would expect and hope that the league would apologize to our entire team. >> plus the big question of the day, straight ahead. the road to 2016 is heating up. prominent members of the republican party are starting to sound a bit presidential. many of the names gathered at the iowa freedom summit. among them, wisconsin governor scott walker. he got the crowd fired up with a pretty passionate speech. >> we need leaders in america who understand, who ultimately understand the measure of success in government is not how many people are dependent on the government. the measure of success in government is how many people are no longer dependent on the government. [ cheers and applause ]
7:02 pm
>> earlier today, scott walker took the very first steps toward the presidential run establishing a committee. the man himself, the governor from the great state of wisconsin. scott walker, you sound like a presidential candidate. are you going to run? >> well i'm very interested for very much the same reason that some five years ago tonnette and i sat down and ultimately prayed about the race for governor. back then we were afraid our sons were growing up in a state that wasn't as great as the one we grew up in. i'm proud to tell you many years later now because of our reforms, our state is better for them. i have the same worries about this country for my son that i had for my state years ago. we need new bold leadership from outside washington proven to take on the challenges we face in this country right now. >> in a blue state wisconsin you won three elections in four years. now you're maybe about to get ready to run again. which is very impressive. i know you have a record that's impressive as well. the question is, what's it going
7:03 pm
to take for you to make that decision? where do you make the leap? how do you make the -- what's the obstacle right now? >> well, part of it right now is this early stage, we got out and started -- i think as a state leader, we have to do things. not just in wisconsin. we see it in iowa and south carolina. we see it in michigan and ohio and other places where you've got republican leadership for the last few years. the ideas that are going to transform america aren't coming from people in washington, they're coming from our state leaders. we need to get out and talk about that. i think there's a sense out there, which i heard on saturday, that people want not just dynamic speakers they want people who have a proven record, who have actually done something, not just talked about it, who are from outside of washington. and i think they want fresh leaders. we'll take hillary clinton on. one from the future, not one from the past. >> the only criticism i've heard about you potentially being a national candidate is that you don't have the fire in the

7:05 pm
problems for the country. that deficit i want to be energy independent ent. what agenda are you going to run on? >> i think very much what i've done at the state. not just taking unions on, we passed statewide school choice, we'll expand that even more. we lowered taxes, we pushed economic growth, we pushed energy independence. i think in this country, what we need going forward is a pro-growth agenda that talks about how you help everyone live their piece of the american dream, not pit one group of americans against another group, doesn't put favorites in washington or anywhere else out there. and takes the power out of washington, puts it not only back into the states, but most importantly back in the hands of the hard working taxpayers. everyone in this country wants to live their piece of the american dream. we need leaders who understand that. the best way to do that is get it out to the people. >> what's your timeline for
7:06 pm
running, governor? >> oh i think by midsummer, any realistic candidate has to be in by this summer. my budget will come out next tuesday, for the fifth and sixth year in a row i'll lower property taxes. i want a few months to get that job done. i'll be in new hampshire and south carolina and iowa, and we'll be talking about these issues for the next several months. we're excited where we can take this country. >> who are the odds of you running? >> oh, i don't think it's ever been good to bet against me. certainly in the last three elections for governor in the past four years i wouldn't be betting against me in a race like this either. >> scott walker, thanks for being with us. >> thank you, sean. also at the iowa freedom summit this weekend, governor sarah palin of alaska. >> things must change for this government. look at it. it isn't too big to fail. it's too big to succeed. man, the middle class, americans

up to what's right and doing what's right. >> are you considering for 2016 a run for the presidency? are you thinking about it? >> i along with so many others on a deep bench no doubt are thinking about it. but it's much too early to say whether i, and i'm sure others would answer the same way, they would be throwing their hat in the ring. >> we do expect i mean come march, april, a lot of people are on the ground in iowa, you're in iowa for the speech. they're putting together campaign teams hiring people on the ground. are you talking to people about that? i mean, walk us through the thought process for you. in terms of what -- >> well, my thought process personally, and, you know you're near and dear to my heart heart -- you know, receiving the blessing from my family to go forth as first and foremost. of course, being a christian putting my life in god's hands, seeking guidance and inspiration
7:09 pm
divinely whether to run or not, that's top of the list. as for the practice logistical steps you take, yes, i have a small team. and that would expand if any decision were to be made to move forward. in the meantime, i'm going to continue to do what i'm doing, and that's helping find other candidates in other positions to get out there and do what's right for their cities, their states, for our country. because the middle class, as i said in that iowa speech, really is getting the shaft with policies coming down from in a lot of cases the state levels certainly the federal level, that are hurting working class americans. and the gop had better find competitors who understand how -- not just relate to and speak to the working class, but to implement policies that work and that they have a track record. a lot 6 conservative governors have that track record showing what those policies are, how they have implemented them proving their mettle. >> you also got criticized in the speech by a lot of people even in the crowd that tend to be supporters of yours, and then

deserve real hope and real change. and not more of the same. not more of the status quo, this old energy if you will. but we need new energy, new ideas. and as i say, very very important that we have a track record proving what works. but what i also made a point of in that speech, sean, and this is important is knowing what the media is going to do throughout 2016 and my prediction, hillary will be running, and she will be the knighted candidate on the left and with the media, knowing what the media is going to do, it's going to take more than a village to beat hillary. there needs to be unity, understanding that we have that -- conservatives have that strike right off the bat. even there on fox kind of a quasi, or consumed conservative outlet. we have listened in to the tease of bill o'reilly, talking about the commentary on his show

tonight. and that would be, all these gop contenders thinking about running for president, like donald trump sarah palin, and he named them off. he said, what a reality show that would be yuck yuck. the left doesn't do that. they take this seriously. because this is war. and hopefully the media, even the quasi right side of the media, won't be looking at this as some kind of reality show, a joke. because maybe they have theirs. they're taking care of it. the people of america deserve the best and competition through a gop primary, whether a bill o'reilly or someone else who assumes it's a reality show or not, they deserve that competition to surface the competitor to take on hillary or whoever it may be and win this country. >> when people ask me when i'm looking for in the next president, i believe conservativism works. we have nearly 50 million americans in poverty, nearly 50 million americans on food

fine with the spygate and loss of a draft choice. personally, indeed and this is a high bar now, if indeed the league can prove culpability by the organization by bill belichick of an organized movement to -- or action to circumvent the rules, i think it has to be north of the last sanctions. to that end, to me it's like there's tax evasion and tax avoid answer. we all try to minimize what our tax burden might be and do it legally. but if you have tax evasion and you actually cross that line that's the key here. everybody tries to get a competitive edge. but if you've literally crossed the line, the legal limits of the nfl, there has to be a sanction. >> coach prediction, who's going to win sunday? >> well, boy, i tell you what i can't remember a super bowl more of a tossup more of a pick 'em if i had to choose the advantage may go to the seattle
