heather childers. >> i am ainsley earhardt. thank you for starting your wednesday morning off with us. nearly 3 feet of snow falling in some parts of the east coast not in the clear just yet. >> while the west gets ready for rain. maria molina is in the weather center. >> look at the snowfall totals we picked up from a nor' easter very significant across parts of massachusetts and auburn. 36 inches of snowfall in connecticut 33.5 inches. parts of new hampshire also getting 30 inches. the storm system packing a punch significant flooding occurring across nantucket new england. it is still producing additional areas of snowfall. we are not in the clear yet. parts of maine picking up snow and parts of new england as well. snow showers will continue to linger. the other concern with this system isn't just additional

snowfall but also the risk for coastal flooding and gusty winds out there. temperatures are on the cold side. you factor in the blustery conditions out there and windchill temperatures are in the single digits teens and below zero for some of you out there. bundle up as you head out the door. many begin the cleanup effort across parts of new england. there's snow coming down parts of maine new hampshire and the boston area. out west we have quiet weather or expecting quiet weather for today. there is a storm system that will be moving in. this system will be bringing in areas of moisture and rainy specially parts of the rockies. higher elevation could be looking at snow. we will keep tracking the storm system as it impacts parts of the rockies. there's advisories across the area with coastal flooding. >> let's get right to the extreme weather alert. new england buried nearly 3 feet of snow falling in some parts.

and now this morning residents from long island new york to maine digging out while others forced to leaf their homes due to flooding. david lee miller in the car heading to marsh field massachusetts where the water is slowly receding. david lee? >> good morning from 93 south outside boston. we are heading toward the coastal communities to get a sense of how bad the flooding is there. you can see how well the traffic is moving. admittedly this is a little early from rush hour. cars are moving along at a good clip. you can see only blacktop on the roadway. that's a good sign. they have done an excellent job

first brought you yesterday the pentagon denying bergdahl will be charged with desertion despite tony schafer telling us his attorneys already received that paperwork. the army saying this, quote the reporting from fox news on nbc and fox news is clearly false. there has been no actions on the sergeant berg call investigation. colonel saferchafer is sifting through the news he first wrote. >> i stand by all of the facts if you look at what kirby said in the pentagon they don't deny the material findings of what i said is in the report. they are being carolful how-- careful how they pars their words. my understanding is that bergdahl's lawyer has been given a statement of charges, a charge sheet that says this is what to expect that we are coming. another part of this is a

they have been charged with murdering robbing an elderly couple who tried to buy a vintage car on craig's list. they found the bodies of bud and june runion in the woods both shot in the head. the suv was found in the lake about a mile from the 28-year-old's home. an illegal immigrant accused of gunning down a store clerk is out on bond awaiting deportation hearing. he is accused of murdering a 21-year-old as he was counting change for a backpack of cigarettes. he was released from custody two years ago on 10,000 dollars bond on a burglar recharge. he was issued two injunction charges. fresno firefighter saving three children from a burning apartment. >> where is she? how old is she ma'am?

the traffic conditions are. let's take a look through our roof cam you can see yourself how well this road has been plowed it is nothing but blacktop. along the side of the road you can see the mountains of snow. but our commute from boston to marsh field our destination this morning has been trouble free. that is not the situation in parts of boston secondary roads still in need of plowing. the situation has dramatically improved since yesterday. we have pictures and have ivideo that show you the damage by the storm yesterday. a good chunk of a retaining wall gave way causing damage to a number of homes.
