we're not releasing her name. she's being held by isis. the japanese journalist kenji goto. the japanese government had been pleading release saying we don't negotiate with terrorists. catherine harris reports the interesting note. there's no time stamps associated with the video. they don't mention any ransom money. the video could be pretty old. >> right there is no time stamp or a newspaper or a mention of a current event so you would know when it took place. it does seem on point with the way other videos from isis has been the same british gentleman or at least a man with a british accent, as we've seen before in the black hooded outfit and the jump suit. we had deputy assistant secretary of defense under president reagan.

she said is is the new normal. isis is going to continue taking hostages and potentially executing them. >> it shows you can't trade, you can't negotiate with terrorists. you can't pay ransom for hostages. this is the new normal in the region. they have now got the momentum. i think we need to switch the momentum and seize the momentum and what we the west, is the american, the british, the japanese anybody who has hostages who are being held or has been be headed and say no more ransom, no more negotiations. here is the new deal. we're going to put money into a pool. we're going to raise $200 million and use the money as a bounty on your head. >> there are many european hostages being held by isis who have been released after their governments paid ransom. the united states holds out in refusing to do that. japan, apparently didn't do it, either. jordan this morning negotiating apparently for the

realization of one of its pilots shot down in syria in a bombing raid. he's a member of the one more in influential tribes. they're considering swimming him for a female suicide bomber. >> muath al-kaseasbeh and he's the first pilot shot down in the assault. the air strikes. so isis capturing the first aircraft shot down. they don't know if he's still alive. the jordanian government wants pictures, they want to see video confirming before they do any kind of a swap right now. and the question this morning is whether or not the drone strikes are working. isis has come out and admit they had to move out of certain towns as a result of drone strikes. but isis capturing oil fields overnight and workers and hostages. we could see more beheadings in

the weeks to come. >> one positive thing, though in the war in terror terror is a suspected drone strike in yemen killed two al qaeda. we have one of the first policy of the 2016 prshlesidential race. the des moines register polled likely republican caucus voters and asked who would you vote for if the election were today? the results were striking. this is without mitt romney. the poll taken before he got out of the race. he was not included in it. you're looking at a three-way tie for first place. the margin error in the poll is 4.8%. you're looking at a tie between governor scott walker within senator rand paul, and mike huckabee. i would be curious to see when you have the des moines register poll at this time of the year almost two years before the election, does it hold?

unbelievables in the west should be stuck in -- struck in their own country. another fox news alert. we learned whitney houston's daughter is in a millionly ly medically induced coma. she was found facedown in a bathtub. this comes almost three years to the day whitney houston was found dead in a hotel bathtub. overnight a daring rescue to save two hikers who fell 500 feet down a mountain. it happened in oregon. a woman broke both of her ankles. the man with her broke his leg. luckily a rescue group was training nearby and got to them quickly. battling fierce winds and ice to get them to a rescue chopper. another climber in the area also fell but not seriously hurt. and the seahawks richard sherman and marshawn lynch took

longer and find her soon. >> michael, what has been the search been like so far? >> been a lot of late nights, you know. just about everywhere we can. >> i know there are a lot of volunteers that are helping out. but you yourselves are driving around and looking. as you're doing that, how are you trying to survey the area? >> usually we try to canvas the area areas and search with as many lights and as many people as we can. get a very detailed search and make sure we check, you know, every thing we possibly can. >> i guess you're stopping getting out of the car. if there's any steep embankment you're looking down in the area in case her car may have gone off the road, god for bid. shanna what are authorities telling you? >> they are -- they've been

wonderful to us both arkansas law enforcement and oklahoma law enforcement. they've been really good to us. they are -- they've been very helpful. the only thing we've had to go on right now is where her cell phone pinged off the tower finding coordinates from her data -- from her phone data. coordinates where her phone was last specifically at. right now they have it narrowed to about a 25-mile search area, and this morning they are going -- the law enforcement are going to use their resources and really survey that area and just pick it apart. then our family and the volunteers for now will focus on, you know posting fliers, passing them out talking to people, and so many people already know. it's been amazing. >> we're trying to help you get the word out this morning. this is callie.

what seeps into the american psyche. one person single mom for instance will say i'll by my kid their mcdonald you buy my kid their veggies. this mentality seeped into our society because traditional family life collapsed. when you look at the numbers the majority of people on food stamps today, 86% are in single households trying to raise children. 48% of american children today are born into families with a single never-married mom. this is a problem. their life is hard. >> it's a smart point, richard. you heard what star said. those are not opinions those are facts. every sociologist agrees growing up in a single-parent household makes your life harder. >> i don't think it's about marriage or traditional family. i'm from a single-family

household and i managed to be successful. you have to have a policy that allows for them to get a chance to go out there and get work. >> wait a second. no. it's impossible -- >> since we know marriage makes people less likely to be poor and go to jail. why wouldn't president obama encourage people to get married? >> it's not something they can encourage. we need to create jobs in the economy. >> that's not true. >> wait a second, star. >> when you're talking about $900 billion in means tested welfare programs and we know the reason we have to enhance the programs is because marriage life has collapsed. people are having children in record numbers now outside of the traditional marriage. >> that's not how we fix the problem. >> we fix the problem by raising minimum wage. >> are you serious? raise the minimum wage and you create more unemployment. >> richard, why would the obama

that it is unfolding but one we're going to stay engaged and fight. >> much of the criticism of the president has been whether or not he's engaged. this week this a opportunities to classify the taliban as a terrorist group and vailed to do so. we're going to get to the board. who are the taliban? are they a terrorist organization? >> yes. the taliban is a terrorist organization. we're talking the afghan taliban. of course, there's different remnants of the taliban but there's the pakistani taliban and so forth. but realize they're on the national counter terrorism center list for terrorists for the american people. it is nctc.gov. >> this is omar. the leader of the taliban. has been in place for a number of years. an is very resilient and effective and so he was the one that har board the likes of bin laden and others. he's a force to be reckoned with. >> and pakistani taliban, again, do not think of these as

connected branchs. they're distinct groups but they have relationships and depending on their agendas but they are terrorists and continue to be. of course al qaeda, bin laden and the current leader of al qaeda. they have a global perspective. think in terms of the afghan taliban is more regional and the haqqani network. the father and son run this. it's the most dangerous and resilient enemy in afghanistan. they control all the way to the pakistan border. they have capabilities on the afghan side of the border and pakistan side of the border. more regional but very dangerous. >> separate or connected to the taliban? >> separate from the taliban but there are connections depending on the agendas and their goals. >> unbelievable. bottom line, when the white house said they're not a

isis beheading japanese journalist kenji goto. >> testimony closet-- it comes after a failed week of negotiations. isis has more hostages at its disposal. connor powell is live in jerusalem with the latest video. dwoom. >> reporter: good morning. intelligence officials are trying to verify the latest execution video. it appears by most accounts to be a legitimate video. and already in japan they're beginning to mourn kenji goto. he was a renowned japanese journalist who was held by isis since the fall. prime minister abe called his death a, quote heinous act. japan said they'll work with the international community to help fight isis. the latest video is similar to the previous isis execution videos in the roughly one minute long clip which is a bit shorter. a militant with a british accent

good morning in an extreme weather alert. you're looking at views from milwaukee, wisconsin, another winter storm making its way across the country. >> grounding 19 flights today and tomorrow. let's check in with rick. he has the latest on this. it's going to be a big problem. >> it is. this will be the biggest snowstorm this near in the chicago area. big storms obviously last week in and around parts of the northeast. take a look at the weather map.

it's a very large expansive storm already seeing the snow moving into western p.a. but we have rain across the southern side of it we could see a couple of strong storms. it's to the north of interstate 70. i-80 you're all snow. some areas will be looking at really significant snow accumulations from this. we have winter storm warnings in effect across eastern nebraska from around and through omaha and chicago. it will bring your visibility down to less than a quarter of a mile. all the areas of northern jersey and upstate new york and new england dealing with the storms. winter storm warnings in effect. we've already seen big snow in chicago. possibly another ten inches. detriot another almost foot of snow and then farther off toward the east and we'll be talking about accumulating snow from new

>> oil workers starting their biggest strike since 1980. >> and the united states steelworkers union at 9 different sites across this morning. thanks for joining us. >> good morning guys. >> this is a bad time for a strike. oil prices way down. >> the bottom line is these guys and gals want security for their jobs. we're in a moment and time when oil prices are falling quickly, down 55% in the last seven months and there is no security here because the oil companies are saying we're getting so much lower revenue for our product right now because of the sell off in the price of oil we can't possibly give security out a couple of years for the unions when we don't know what the market is going to do tomorrow. if they do a full out walk out right now that's going to disrupt two-thirds of oil

production. if there's one thing that could start it this week, it's the threat of this upcoming walk out. >> what happens if i want to fill up my gas tank tomorrow? >> at this point people are anticipating that this could disrupt supplies and they may very well start raising prices at least a bit. the bottom line is there is a down side to falling oil prices and we have spoken about this. we talked about this last week. as oil prices move lower the one industry in america that has been the growth story, the shell revolution is getting dampened. they're seeing lower revenue lower product and lower production and cutting jobs. it's across all of the economy. new construction for houses drying up. restaurants having to close down because those people that build that economy around those jobs also dying out. >> 100% and the most job creation since the financial crisis of 2007 has been around

the energy sector so this is going to have negative implications. it's not a positive. we talked a lot about anticipating these positive ramifications of lower oil. people have not spending that extra money they saved on stuff. we'll see if that comes at some point. >> are the saudis part of the reason oil price versus dropped? is that true? >> the saudis don't want prices at these levels however they'll not give up on market share. they're saying if we stop producing one or two million barrels a day somebody is not going to pick up the slack. as a result if you don't take oil off the market prices will keep on falling. so the saudis are part of it although why think this is their agenda because they're hurting as much as the russians with the decline. >> who's coming up on your show this 340r7k? >> we'll talk about the economy and also the latest on the budget. the president is going to be unveiling his budget tomorrow. we'll talk about the head of the
