as gruesome as this. the cops say the man killed his wife her 16-year-old daughter father-in-law and mother-in-law and 18-year-old family friend. this is the suspect. 26. 6'3", 190 with blue eyes and may be driving an olive green mazda tribute. the sheriff says thomas lee could be anywhere by now. investigators say the homeowners boss called sheriff deputies. the sheriff broke open the door and found the bodies inside. the suspect shot at least four of the victims. they are still trying to determine how the other victim died. the home is near the alabama line. tyler jones is a reporter for the lagrange daily news.

salesman that sold mr. lee a car several years ago. saw him in a store. described the suspect as polite, outgoing friendly. very out of his character. >> we will follow it. thank you, tyler. there is word isis is struggling to find more fighters and is sending soldiers as young as 15 to fight its battles. coalition air strikes killed some 6,000 isis fighters since august. they are replacing them so quickly. allied forces are not letting up. officials say they carried out more than 25 air strikes in iraq and syria in the last two days alone. there is no word from the pilot from jordan who officials say is being held hostage. yesterday militants say they cut off the heads of two more hostages. that word came a day after the

terror group released another video that seems to show the beheading of another japanese hostage. isis demanded japan pay andransom for the hostages. the group is also having trouble with twitter. islamic state leaders are upset with the way some of the militants are tweeting. from all that i just read t sounds like isis is on the way out and that coalition forces are gaining background. >> well, it sounds like they have a messaging problem. we were able to reduce social media traffic posted less than 12 hours of the execution of the japanese journalist was released. the writer warning the leader, abu bakr al baghdadi and the group's spokesman used only four web accounts to release their messages and nothing else could be trusted.

the translation reads that the two men do not have accounts on social media. nobody has the right to speak on the behalf of the islamic state. they told that isis leadership might be trying to take back control of the microphone before they released this execution video. a tweet eight days ago claimed both of the japanese hostages were already dead. over the weekend analysts noted that execution video was odd because it made no reference to the recent negotiations suggesting it may have been recorded some time ago. >> what are you hearing about the pilot from jordan? >> social media accounted linked to isis retweeted images linked to the date when the pilot was captured. they say isis is using the propaganda videos to further

taunt and antagonize the jordanian government. but the pilot may have died from his injuries or beatings from isis. earlier today the state department had little to offer. >> we have a range of discussions that are ongoing with the government of jordan. we don't outline those publicly given it is a ongoing situation and out of respect for their process, and as i stated many times before. >> isis also releasing a new video purporting to show the execution of a jordanian intelligence officer. it is not possible to verify the man appears to have been beaten badly and heavily drugged. that is a pattern we see with the group, shep. >> i heard people wondering if isis miscalculated here. it seems that there is anger boiling over in jordan. if the jordanians are really going to strike back from this.

>> well, one of the things that has been underreported, though we dealt with it somewhat here at fox, when they took that pilot hostage they bought into tribal issues. the pilot is a member of a powerful tribe within jordan. it wasn't only taking a member of the military, it was an attack on the tribe in jordan. the goal of isis was to threaten jordan and intimidate them and lessen their participation in the coalition. it might be having the opposite effect. >> i feel we are getting a sweet version of what is going on over there from the pentagon and others. it is not like isis is retreating or losing ground. they had a really big win over the weekend, unless the information i am getting is wrong. >> we have been working on new maps based on human intelligence reporting. information that is coming from

it is february and it is snowing in parts of the nation. wow. winter storm is pelting the northeast with snow and freezing rain. dumped more than a foot and a half on parts of chicago making it one of the biggest snowstorms on record. dozens of cars and trucks got caught up in a pile up this morning. police in nebraska say icy roads triggered a series of deadly car crashes. tens of thousands of homes and businesses in the midwest are still out of power. the rough weather is not over. that prediction from a rodent in

chicago. third biggest in detroit. we are getting a burst of snow for long island and new york up towards connecticut, providence and boston. they could get upwards of a foot when all is said and done. they issued these weather advisories all the way down to the atlantic. it will be very cold overnight. all of the slush and moisture on the roads and seahawks side walks. we are going to have a flash freeze. look at the forecast. this is why we are concerned. we have a lot of moisture working its way in. mostly a snow event for new england. but temperatures are falling rapidly overnight tonight. wet surfaces will freeze and ice over. that will be the big story. 16 in new york. 20 in philadelphia. 16 in boston. all of that snow of course will remain in place over the next week or week and a half.

the momentum towards the united states getting more involved in another war. the white house is reconsidering whether to supply ukraine with lethal weapons as vladimir putin's russian backed weapons continue to advance in the east. president obama argued that financial punishments imposed by the u.s. hurt the russian economy in a big way and that was enough to stop putin. other officials tell the "new york times" newspaper putin hasn't backed down. sending new high-tech lethal weapons to the war zone and repeatedly violating the agreement of a cease fire in ukraine. officials are looking at the possibility of ukraine being the epicenter of a new european war.

the news comes as military experts say president putin is racheting up the war. the fighting as killed around 5,000 people since the spring of 2014 and forced over a million people from their home. jennifer griffin is live at the pentagon. is that right? >> shepard, as the atlantic council moments ago eight former top national security advisors to president obama urged the president to reconsider his decision to not provide weapons to counter the continued march of russian-backed separatists through ukraine. they have taken the airport and are fight to overtake a strategic railway down in the east.

>> former top advisors conclude that only if the kremlin knows the risk and cost of further military action are high will it seek to find an acceptable military solution. the west has the capacity to stop russia. the question is whether it has the will. three former secretary of states were on the hill last week. >> what is the reaction from washington so far? >> neither the white house or state department is confirming the report. >> we take into account events on the ground and events that are ongoing. i am not going into details of internal policy discussions. but we do continue to assess how to best support ukraine. >> john kerry plans to visit kiev thursday. sounds like a report about arming the opposition. >> jennifer, thanks a lot. let's bring in general wesley clark, the author of a book

"don't wait for the next war." sir, nice to see you. thank you. >> thank you. >> does this feel like a trial balloon to you to test the political will out there? and what is your position on whether we should arm the ukraine? >> i am glad to see the atlantic council report. i know the people that did that study. many were my colleagues years ago in the pentagon and in the state department. frankly, it has been a year of a courage us diplomatic effort by president obama. the atlantic alliance has held together. russia's economy is being hurt. but it is insufficient. after a year it is time reassess that policy. you can't get diplomacy unless you have enough military strength to force mr. putin.

the casualty figures are no doubt understated. i have been five times to ukraine. i would say there are between 8,000 to 9,000 russian troops. they have the most modern russia military equip nmtment in there. i am talking about unmanned aerial vehicles massive rocket launching system. the linkage between the two. modern armed tanks that will defeat most anti-tank guided missiles. it is a real fight. in one period in august the ukrainian military lost several thousand troops, captured, killed or units that were decimated. what you have got is intensive warfare this. is new future tense. this is not will there be war in europe. there is war in europe.

the question is is the united states go to stop it or going to allow it to expand and engulf other countries. this is the time. >> what is the argument for not sending the weapons to ukraine. our ally ukraine. what is the reason to not send them so far? >> they are not really an ally. they are not a member of nato. but they are fighting for their right, which we supported for hundreds of years. the argument for not sending has been that you might provoke russia. we tried that argument for a year and it did not work. i thought we learned in the balkans, that you can't tell people they shouldn't defend themselves. in the case of ukraine, at first we told them give up crime yeah. russia took it. i am not sure if we said it in those words.

we were maybe worried that we could get away with it if we didn't provoke putin. this case is part of a russian strategy. russian objectives have been announced. it is just the matter of watching it unfold. it is whether you believe it or not. it is not akin to the syrians. it is more like what happened in world war ii, prior to world war ii in europe. this is a plan that has unfolded. the time to stop it is early and that time is now. >> gorbachev expressed a concern that it might spread. your level of concern if we do arm the ukrainians, that our nate oi nato allies in that region get involved and we are drawn in. >> if you arm the ukrainians now, you can stop it from spreading. mr. putin is still playing a game with his own people at

home. he is denying that russian troops are even there we have clear evidence of that. they died by the hundreds. he covered up their funerals and so forth. so this is still for him deniable. and if he is given a sharp wrap on the nose by the ukrainian military i think he would seek a diplomatic way out of the conflict. but if we let it fester and succeed and if we let ukraine crumble, the problem is magnified and russia grows stronger. this is the time for the administration to reassess their policy and provide substantial military training and assistance to ukraine. >> we are led to believe that debate is on now. general wesley clark, thank you. >> thank you. here at home the white house and center for disease control prevention made a new pitch for americans to please get your measles vaccinations as the

just into the news desk a judge rejected a massive proposed settlement between the nfl and its players in that class action concussion lawsuit. the judge put the $765 million settlement on hold unless and until the nhlfl makes changes to enhance the fairness. the judge says all living retired players that are qualified for concussion tests should get one no matter the cost. 5,000 players have sued the nfl. people in boston are stoat brave the snow for tomorrow's parade honoring the super bowl champion patriots. last night bill belichick and tom brady held off the seahawks to win their fourth super bowl together and it was a close one. we have pictures in our slide show. we have all said it all day and talked about it. it is time to stop talking about
