oh, man, i am waiting for june. rick, thank you. >> you bet. >> thanks for being with us. see you again monday night right here at 7:00 p.m. eastern. if you can't watch live, use your dvr. good night from washington. tonight on "red eye." >> coming up on "red eye" behind the scenes of the 2015 auto show. we'll discuss if manufacturers have made a huge mistake with the super retro approach. plus, does the president think hollywood legend billy zane could be the next president? >> that's a possibility. i mean, come on now. it is 2015. god bless the united states of america. >> and finally, is powder chocolate a good substitute for cocaine? we will talk to one guy who had the guts to find out. >> none of these stories on "red eye" tonight. >> that story is fake. let's welcome our guests.

she files more briefs than lou daabs on laundry day. it is remi spencer. and one of the most trusted news men, joining me tonight is andy levey with a v. he is a real einstein. and by that i mean he will probably marry his cousin. it is will ron. and trust me his last name is very very accurate. sitting next to me rob long. tv writer and producer. i am trying to be creepy today. >> congratulations. >> are you the delicious founder of ricochet.com. delicious. >> thank you. >> a block. the lede. that's the first story. >> we will begin our nonstop coverage of brian williams. it will go into the next week. we are not leaving. we will be here for the next 70 to 100 hour. he was a distorter in the

french quarter. the brian wilson -- brian williams crisis is dying down. the account of hurricane katrina is being questioned as well as the network is investigating his lies about iraq. he said he witnessed a body in the french quarter area of new orleans. >> when you look out your hotel room window in the french quarter and watch a man float by face down, when you see bodies you last saw in indonesia and swore to yourself you would never see in your country. i beat that storm. >> they reported the french quarter was mostly dry citing a former city health director who claimed there were no bodies in the quart are. if i had a dime every time i heard that. now williams is laying low. at a new york rangers game with his good friend tom hanks.
12:03 am
i was at the same game with my pal, djj-qualls. the pilot who said the iraq story is correct has takentatement saying he is questioning his memories. what happened to williams' helicopter in iraq? video surfaced showing the alleged attack and added williams' own narration. >> we were in some helicopters. what we didn't though is we were north of the invasion. we were the northernmost americans in iraq. we were going to drop some bridge portions across the euphrates so the third infantry can cross on them. two of our four helicopters were hit. >> that was the best re-enactment of everything. cats make everything better. >> that was very vivid. i now feel like i was in the helicopter. >> you were there. you saw the paw coming at you. >> the weird whiskers. we don't know if he lied about the body, but there seems to

be a shakespear yen fall occurring now. >> the great play right? it doesn't look good. >> shakespear was a good play write. he wrote stories that made sense and people believed. everyone knows the trench quarter was built on high grounds. he should have known that. it didn't flood. there was a flood in the french quarter. it has been high ground since the french built it and that's why they did it. they are not stupid. i will go on record saying brian williams is lying seeing a body float by this the french quarter. thls it was on -- unless it was on balloons. >> do you think he thought he was in the french quarter and he was really in atlanta? >> then he is a terrible reporter. the reason he lied was to make himself be bigger and more important. at least dan rather lied about

the letter with george w. bush because he hated the president and he had a political ax to grind. >> this is for his ego. >> this is weird fantasy. >> he likes to be liked. >> he likes to be important. >> you know what could explain all of this, maybe he likes to do shrooms. he is in louisiana and on shrooms and like oh my gosh there is a body floating by. in iraq whoa. >> i like your shroom voice. you broke an interesting story this morning. explain to me the puppy thing. >> well, he saved a puppy when he was this high school. >> wait, wait. explain it. >> all right he says he wrote this thing in 2011 that he went to this building and saved a puppy while he was a volunteer firefighter in high school. for all we know that's true. when i saw this -- listen everybody is making jokes about brian williams. i had my shot too.
12:06 am
personally i know him and he is a good journalist and decent guy. i don't believe any of this is true. i go back with brian williams. we met in 1968 and were embedded together on a gun boat. we were going up river into cambodia. we weren't supposed to be in cambodia. this green beret colonel had gone bad. i will tell you right now about brian williams. >> thank you for that. sorry i tried to derail you. i was commending you with another story. remi you encourage your clients to lie about the crimes committed. if you tell a lie so many times the way mr. williams has doesn't it become the truth? >> first of all i want you to take back the preface of the question. thank you.
12:07 am
they can appreciate wanting to exaggerate a story. at a cocktail party you make yourself seem braver or the situation is scarier. we accept that. we are human beings. we give people that kind of freedom except when this is your job. your credibility is the full force of your importance. we trust him. he lass -- he has been a likable, trustworthy person for a long i'm too. i am a fan of his and i think he does a good job. if it turns out that he is lying or exaggerating about his own account. >> you will kill him. >> i think it is sad. there is a distinction between what dan rather did and they were reporting other stories. >> he was talking about himself. >> he was talking about himself. that's an important distinction. >> it is, it is.
12:08 am
>> well, you wanted to ask something. >> the problem is when you see in those videos, now you see him and he is like eddie haskil with the smile and the smug little walk and i'm so smart. you want to punch him really hard. every time you see the video of him telling the story you know he is lying and you know he is saying it -- man i was changed. i saw stuff that changed me. you know it is a lie. how do you come back from that? i would dig a hole and get in a hole and cover myself up with dirt for five years because i am so ashamed. >> i do it for amusement. the cold soil against my naked skin. >> it is the only way you can do anything. >> the worm is crawling along. sometimes they guest lost. one thing, you said something and eddie haskil you -- i

love the fact we say eddie haskil. when can we that longer say that and what generation will no longer know? >> the ones who are watching. >> he was the kid who is -- >> i have no idea. >> he was the brown noser in "leave it to beaver." >> he is the google machine you are using all the time. >> i want to touch on this. will wanted to do a sctick, but the puppy story is interesting because brian williams said he was a volunteer fireman in high school and saved a puppy. then i read an "esquire" interview because you broke the story where he claims there were two puppies. the thing that bugs me most about one or two puppies is he does this awe shucks, i am no better than the firemen. i am really no better than the troops, and then the interviewer is like i didn't realize how interesting brian williams is. his schtick is to blow your mind about how much deeper he
12:10 am

>> i don't think he is gone. he may take an extended leave of absence and may come back in another -- >> as a woman? like bruce jenner? >> we have seen him on the late night show doing slow jam. a blend of the news and comedy, sort of like a daily show type thing. >> this is all about the fact he didn't like his day job. he wanted to be letterman. >> he just signed a $10 million deal to a night job. you tweeted that the exact thing will happen. he will appear on all of his friends' comedies shows and make self-depricating jokes. he is a media uh kris -- aristocrat. >> i thought that up until today. but i think it has gone from being a mistake/lie that can be fluffed off by nbc and it is a full blown scandal. a couple hours ago and jake
12:12 am
taper said there were soldiers who were there when this happened and they say williams' -- original report was wrong and they used audio from a different helicopter from a different company to make it sound like he was in more danger than he was. if that is true he has to be gone and anyone involved with airing the report is gone or nbc is screwed. they cannot have that. >> i was in the nbc news meeting. i am not president of the nbc news, but close. they will not do it. >> how long before the i was doing x jokes run their course? the jokes based on lying. >> like what i just did? i am too old and my jokes are old. >> you did it with "heart of darkness." >> he did it for a longtime. >> and i did a whole monologue
12:13 am
on it two days ago. >> by the way what was the other point? tom hanks. again, small thing, but he -- what did he do? what was his lifeline? celebrity. if i have a famous friend and i am with a famous friend maybe this will all go away. >> that is taking it too far. they may have been frens and had seats to the game. pick on him for the stuff he deserves to be picked on. >> that's the kind of thing where they say you have to get out there. >> he should have gone to will ron and a crappy movie. >> doesn't it seem like tom hanks and brian williams have the same vibe?
12:14 am
>> now you are blaming tom hanks. >> how long before people don't know jimmy stewart? >> by the way, i wanted people watching at home to know we are an interactive show. tweet me and know who -- if you know who eddie haskil is. that would be cheating. i can see what you are doing in the gray robe. you have to tie it up. it looks like an upside down turtle choking. shall we move on? >> that was 72 hours. was chris' disc sexist? it is the topic of tonight's -- >> is this sexist? >> l.a. clippers point guard, that's basketball. chris paul is taking heat after going off on a ref for what he called a bad foul. he was hit with a technical
12:15 am
foul in the game against the cleveland cavaliers and had this to say something afterwards. >> there is no way it is a technical. we try to get the ball out she said huh-uh and i said why and she gave me a text. >> the referee in question is rocky lauren and one of two female who are resting in the nba season. the clippers say that the comment has nothing do do with gender, but the fact that she is a rookie. they both called it a bad look. the espn senior director has that tweeted, i can tell you what may not be for her sexist comments.
12:16 am
bet you are proud of that tweet. for more let's go live to "red eye"'s nba analyst. >> waste of stuff. he doesn't need a cup or a table. he is a freaking rodent. just put it on the ground. >> why can't rodents be classy? >> on their own dime. >> that was more expensive than our set. >> he could have played for that himself. >> that was a $12,000 set. remi the obvious question i have to ask is should chris paul go to prison? >> oh my goodness this story actually makes me angry. when people complain about gender discrimination when it doesn't exist it takes credibility away from the heel problem. >> if there is one but go ahead jay oh so funny.
12:17 am
the only issue i have with this is learning for the first time since i am not a basketball fan that there are only two female refs. not that it is not a discrimination, but why president aren't there more women? i don't think there is anything that can be said that is sexist about it? >> in the green room this is why we can't have women doing men's jobs. >> no. i know nothing about basketball and i don't care, but i am glad there is a basketball player named doc rivers. that's the americay grew up in. >> the white pork. >> the white america. >> i am glad he is there. is it different to treat women with more respect and deference? >> or using a pro noun like
12:18 am
saying her. >> it is about the thing that women get upset about which is tone of voice. the way he said it, it is not the words he said but the way he said it. it was right there on the line. that is basically being argued about for 10,000 years. >> that's why i am in the dog house. it doesn't matter what i say, but it is how i say it. literally i am in a dog house. using the word her is an issue. we are in a world where elites and academics are more concerned about pronounce than fighting terror. they don't care gays are being tossed or womens a being stone. it is her, the pro noun. >> that's a dumb point i don't feel like addressing. it is 2015. 24r* are two choices. either one he said was sexist or what he said was sexist. you have people saying it is a bad look.
12:19 am
that is obviously code for we know you are not being sexist, but we to lecture you so we feel inferior. what should have happened is paul shouldn't criticize a female instead of a male. >> that makes sense. >> you don't think you should behave slightly differently. >> he didn't do anything other than making a bad call. he didn't say anything he would have said about a guy. he would have said it rougher. he didn't call her any names you shouldn't call a woman. he did exactly what he should do. >> can we qekly note that greg gutfeld referred to everybody and hosts two television shows. >> i am the world's greatest populous. i am, i am. i take the subway
12:20 am
periodically. >> one way. >> one way. unless it is kind of cold and then i will take a car and service it some time. or if it is hot i will take a car -- if i don't like the people outside my apartment i am taking a car.

it went above tough love. a missouri family, they have them there, arranged to have a 6-year-old boy kidnapped to teach him a lesson because he was, quote too nice to strangers. that's the title of my book. according to police denise asked a co-worker to kidnap her nephew to scare him. a plan the boys' mother and grandmother agreed to. the co-worker waited at the child's bus stop and then lured him into a pick up truck. it is always a peck up truck. that's all they needed to do to get their point across
12:24 am
right, lieutenant? >> he takes him out for a ride of terror which is -- you know, the boy starts crying that he is told he will never see his mother again and he will never see his house and then when he doesn't stop crying he shows him a gun and says he will be harmed. >> that's nice. that's enough for once. >> at some point his pants were removed and he would be taken to a sex trade at some point. the child didn't know what that meant. >> they must know it crosses the line. >> still they are in denial they did anything wrong. they felt their method of teaching a 6-year-old boy is through pure terror. >> not surprisingly they are in custody facing a variety of charges. now the latest on meet sells outbreak. >> steve is live.

>> years ago the measles was virtually eradicated in the united states. >> he is a stud. by the way that was his long lost brother. oh my god i found him after miles and miles of walking. he saw him and went like this. remi kidnapping. you are a lawyer. would you defend this family or just run from them and shriek? >> i believe in our system so i believe everybody deserves representation. i think i can predict what the parents' defense is going to be. our heart was in the right place and we chose the wrong people to do this. we never expected it to get carried away. i think that is the defense. but it is not a win defense. they are all guilty of child endangerment and terrorist threats. the list goes on and on. maybe their sentence will be lesser because there is some truth to their heart being in

12:28 am
as a libertarian i'm sure you argue it is the parents' choice and not the government of how they can raise tear child, right? >> it is their kids, man. no i'm kidding. you said before you don't know how you get four people to agree to do something stupid? you know how? meth. seriously i councilled a lot of co-eds. when you are older and you get married and have kids don't fake kidnap them and threaten to sell them into slavery. they wanted to teach him not to trust strangers and they taught him not to trust his family. >> that's the real lesson. stranger danger is no where near as dangerous as the -- most murders rapes orchid nappings, you know them. in a weird 2008 he -- everybody learned a lesson. it is the people you know you

have to worry about. >> he was rescued by brian williams i lawyered. >> the brian williams show. >> it is going to be called the williams joke. it will be used everywhere, wherever you go. >> not another williams joke. >> i am not paying you for a williams joke. >> exactly. all right, coming up, a dom -- dominatrix gets millions in a lawsuit. looks like someone took a beating. now to a word from our sponsor. >> tired of feeling shame for having awful ancestors? it is white guilt whiteout. it is not sold in stores because it is all in your head.

was he too frank about when to spank? pope francis, not his real name says it is okay to smack your children as punishment for misbehaving. during a homily about the responsibilities they mimic the act of spanking someone on the backside while explain quote, once i heard a father saying sometimes i have to smack my children, but never in the face so as not to

12:35 am
weirdly they are back to back. we know -- apparently for some people smacking your kid is too far. the thing is he is latin and from back then they still do that down there. they do it every play south of -- >> really? i don't leave my apartment. all of the parents who inoculate their kids also smack them. >> that'senting. >> as a budist i was surprised the pope condoned violence. >> i don't understand any of that question and it is not accurate. >> i like how you destroy every question. >> i will answer it anyway. actually i kind of like the pope's answer. i am sensitive about taking care of children but people do smack their children on the hand and on the tooshy.
12:36 am
people do these things and i am not sure when it went from being okay because it is certainly legal by the way. you can do a lot worse to your child without breaking the law when it went from being okay and acceptable to people get horrified if they see you smack a hand. >> 1970s. i am not that old and it was acceptable then. it started with the after school specials and the more you know and the kids were like precious snowflakes. i am afraid they will accuse me of doing something i had nothing to do with. so it is okay according to the pope to hit kids, but not to draw mohamed. remember he said like you know you don't want to tick off people because then you will get hit. that's what he said two weeks
