jordan shooting down a claim by isis that kayla mueller an american hostage being held in syria was killed in a jordanian air strike calling it all part of their quote, criminal propaganda. the united states says they see new evidence to back up that claim either. welcome to inside america's news headquarters. i'm in for kelly wright. >> good to have you here on a saturday. you don't look a day older. >> trust me i am. >> i'm julie banderas. moving on to the news as we wait to learn more about that

american being held by isis, jordan still reeling from the horrific execution of a captured pilot. vowing to wipe the terror group off the face of the earth. jordan's air force meantime carrying out a large number of isis targets in both syria and now iraq as well. connor powell is live in amman, jordan. are we getting any word on the fate of kayla mueller? >> reporter: well, it's been 4 hours since isis made this claim that mueller was in fact killed by a jordanian air strike in syria. there has been no evidence, there's been no proof to verify that statement and in both washington and here in amman, there's a lot of skepticism about whether or not that's true. both the cia and the state department said they're working to verify the claims and investigate and here in amman they're calling this claim that it was jordanian planes that killed mueller a simple criminal propaganda. a lot of skepticism in both

places, however, it is being taken very serious because she has been a hostage held by isis since august of 2013. so there's real concern about her fate. her parents released a statement last night and said they are continuing to pray and hope that she is alive and well. but there is a lot of fear that because she's been a hostage for isis for so long that the worst has happened to her. nobody knows for sure and again isis has offered no proof one way or the other about whether she's alive or dead. >> so then is jordan capable of continuing the current pace of its operations against isis? >> reporter: yeah, since their pilot was brutally murdered in january, jordan has stepped up their attacks on isis. particularly in the last week or so. launching a number of air strikes in syria, and reportedly also now in iraq according to jordanian officials. the question is can they sort of continue that pace of operations, and most people here
11:33 am
particularly u.s. officials say jordan isn't capable. they have a small but very capable air force it's only about 40 planes or so. so this type of operation where they're flying 12 jets a day and air strikes into syria it's probably too much for them. but they are part of this u.s. led coalition and the u.s. really is doing the bulk of the air strikes and the bulk of the coordination with jordan. we are also hearing that the uae is sending a squadron of f 16s here to jordan as well. so that will only boost the capabilities of the arab countries but right now, though, the real key is getting all of the arab countries together as part of this coalition. and as that develops and as that grows that is really the backbone of the overall coalition. not just jordan's air strikes. not just the united states but the growing coalition. >> conor powell, thank you. and three of the suspects

we'll shut the tap off. for now, look at the drought. yes, they can use every drop of that rainfall and they'll certainly get it through central california, southern california not so much. but again, especially across the areas that really need it across central u.s. we're dealing with spring-like temperatures so you're enjoying that, however if you don't like snow, cover your ears and go la-la-la, because here we have a train of storms moving in except for julie, she's a big skier. the big weather maker is going to be sunday through monday. we have this low off the coast, very cold air across the intergrorinter interior sections of the northeast and new england. around new york, long island, south of the city, that's where we'll get this wintry mix. so it will happen monday morning on your commute. just be aware, but north of that area incredible amounts of snow across new england. i don't know if that's good news for boston because they have received incredible amounts really within the last week. so there's sunday into monday as i mentioned that wintry mix

setting up around the new york area. so we'll be concerned here. boston, i mean you could get over a foot of snow on top of the 55 inches that you have received you know just within the last couple of weeks. so there's your current snow depth. a lot of the areas over 24 inches and then you'll get another jackpot west of boston, could get over two feet of snow. so there you have it. i expect this time next weekend gregg, it will be you and i. julie will be nowhere in sight on the tv. but she'll be -- >> sending you photos of me knee deep in snow in vermont. >> big skier. too bad you're not any good. >> first of all, we have actually gone skiing together. he's quite good. >> we went down the plummet together. >> it was -- >> double black diamond. >> so he would know how good you are, but how does she look in her snowsuit? >> let's talk about that. >> she's quite beautiful in a snowsuit. >> that's all that matters. >> in the chalet.

11:46 am
sorry, with saudi arabia, in syria, and iraq, with saudi arabia and jordan taking the lead. not the united states. the boots on the ground cannot be ours. >> all right. i'll come back to that in a minute because i'm not sure the jordanian military is up to it, but dee dee, let me move to you, because there are divisions among republicans especially those who are aiming for the oval office in 2016. you have on the one hand, rand paul very much an isolationist versus ted cruz with an expansion message to isis. what does this do to the presidential hopefuls? >> well, it's interesting you say that gregg because it's historically happening again. look, we have a carter again. we've got president carter obama, worse than carter. because remember the hostages, at least they survived. what president obama -- with president obama we have hostages dying. in fact, we have a woman who knows what happened to her. there are videos and the beheadings of americans. but this is a woman. think about it, what these men do to women.
11:47 am
i fear that next week if there's a video of how this woman was killed, probably stoned to death, we don't know. we cannot take these terrors lightly. what is going to happen, obama is going to continue to lollygag. he may give a nice speech to congress, but will he do anything? probably not. what's going to happen? the vacuum of carter is going to come back and we need to find that reagan to get rid of the terrorists and the bad guy. >> you said this should be handled regionally, maybe jordan and saudi arabia. jordan has three squadrons of f-16s. they have one squadron of covert choppers and 400 british may tags. they're a small country with a tiny military force they're not up to taking on isis. >> i'll tell you though, if they put together a regional group of people saudi arabia, jordan, some other countries, they can handle it. clearly, the united states boots on the ground in iraq. look how many people we had there. look over how many years we were
11:48 am
not able to do the job. this has got to be done regionally. the united states -- >> well isis has taken over large parts of syria and northern iraq, including mosul. had we not pulled out of iraq without a status of forces agreement, ellen. >> well, listen we went in and pulled out, but even when we went in, i remember going in to iraq and with jim pinkerton and i also remember our military correspondents saying to me before we went in, that she was told we would not be able to tell friend from foe and that's exactly the problem. >> yeah. dee dee -- >> a great history -- >> let me go back -- >> can i say a great history of moving forward. >> go ahead. >> sorry, gregg. very passionate about this, because look we have done nothing. we dilly dally. the red line was cross and the president did nothing, so the world is more in danger. >> but the president said that the war on terror was over. he said that may 23, 2013 in a big speech. war on terror is over.
11:49 am
does that now in retrospect given all that's happened seem rather naive if not foolish? >> yeah. tell that to the family of the beheaded americans. i mean give a break. these people mean business. they're probably the worst terrorist threat we have had since 9/11. something has to be done and the president of the united states needs to step forward and be strong. but unfortunately he probably won't do that. so we need to take back the white house and handle these folks and let's hope and pray that no bad comes to this -- >> we have to leave it there. fresh out of time, but good to see you both. dee dee sorvino and ellen ratner. >> welcome back, gregg. >> thank you. by the way, anchor bret baier bringing us the early contenders of the presidential election. go behind the scenes as potential candidates position themselves for the long haul. check it out, tonight, 10:00 eastern and tomorrow at 8:00 p.m. eastern on the fox news

us about this. this latest accusations, this claim that isis killed yet another hostage is different this time. they're saying they are not responsible, so they're not bragging and dangling her death in the view of others. however, there is zero proof at this point that the american hostage kayla mueller is, in fact, dead, it is conceivable that could be the case but what is highly skeptical is the manner in which she died. how far fetched are there that the jordanian air strike killed nor injured no one but her? >> right now terrorist analysts are pointing to the painful conclusion that claims of her death are very credible but claims about how and when she died are not. >> right. >> the u.s. government for its part is really focusing its efforts on intelligence collection and intelligence analysis in order to decipher the ground -- the ground truth here. but what is known right now is that all efforts are -- are sort of like all hands on deck.

we're working very closely with our alhighs slyies in the region. >> when isis killed a jordanian pilot happened to be a religious muslim it basically declared a whole new kind of war with jordan. what has isis gained, then, by blaming jordan for the death of an american? >> nothing. and i would add that at the strategic level isis has grossly miscalculated the effects of these recent astrosties would have on the international community. they perpetrated these executions of most recently jordanian and japanese hostages with the intent that they would be a recruitment tool for others. but what's happened here is actually the reverse. they've managed to galvanize the u.s.-led anti-isis coalition as well as our arab allies in the region like jordan and saudi and the uae which just now has rejoined the military campaign. >> and king abdullah everyone

12:44 pm
how should isis be treated differently from al qaeda and how does that dictate how we should engage it? >> well, there's a number of sort of tactical differences. differences at the tactical level so to speak between isis and al qaeda, but at the end of the day we're talking about two organizations that share this radical militant sunni demographic as well as a core agenda that's hell-bent on destroying as many western targets, ie, american citizens as possible whether that's here on home soil or abroad in other countries. >> how does the united states send a message as strong as the one that jordan did? i'm not saying go in to gitmo and kill every terrorist but some might say hey, why not? or other guests have come on this program and said, hey why don't we put a bounty on the head of every isis militant taking the lives of innocent hostages. why not go there. they clearly need money, they need hundreds of millions of dollars to exist every year.
