>> congratulations aztecs. now go win. new this morning, a twist in the las vegas road rage case that left a mother of four dead. anna kooiman is here with brand-new details. >> good morning. police are now saying there's more to this story than originally thought. the victim tammy myers, and her 22-year-old son went out looking for the suspect who ultimately shot her dead. it all started when an angry driver began yelling at myers and her 15-year-old daughter during a driving lesson. the man unleashed his fury after the teenager honked the horn because she says he was speeding around them. >> she was getting a driving lesson so she figured this person was speeding and they needed to be corrected. >> when the two got home myers picked up her 22-year-old son who had a gun and went out to find the road rage suspect. they eventually did find the car but returned home instead. that's when a gray

first a live look in louisville kentucky where snow is still falling at this hour. >> maria molina is there tracking the storm outside and its very next move. good morning to you, maria. >> good morning. we're looking at more snow today and another storm system that could hit parts of northern new england with very heavy snow, as much as a foot of snow expected across portions of the state of maine and into new hampshire. let's look at current wind chill temperatures this morning because this is a big story for many people across the country. in denver you're in the single digits, well below zero. in places like chicago rapid city and minneapolis it currently feels like 28 degrees below zero. you've got to bundle up and it's going to get cold into parts of northern florida and georgia. the southeast is also getting some of that action. look at thursday morning and friday morning. another couple of cold days. we could even be looking at potentially record-setting cold by friday morning across parts of the great lakes, midwest and into the northeast. there's a look at the radar. you can see snow swinging

interesting, compelling video that that jury will see. at times he's agitated. at times sleepy. but this notion that he recognizes that somehow he's insane, that he's feeling paranoid, that he's feeling schizophrenic, in my mind, that creates real questions for the defense about that insanity defense because typically -- i'm not a psychiatrist but i spoke to one yesterday. typically that kind of self-recognition i feel paranoid, i feel schizophrenic, i don't know whether i'm insane is not usually typical of someone who cannot recognize right from wrong. he appears to be recognizing right from wrong, problems in his life on that day. >> as we look at that video right there weren't there also stories that he was high on weed and he was drunk as well? that looks like a guy who was drunk. >> alcohol, weed is not an excuse for murder. it's not recognized under texas

that they're going to prevail and all those people will be given amnesty. from where you sit in phoenix, what do you think either the appellate court or the supreme court is going to ultimately do? >> the fifth air kit is where the case will go next. i'm very confident the states, a majority of states have always had the winning argument that the president does not have the authority to act unilaterally. whether you're a republican or democrat, we can not have a president, whether he's frustrated or disagrees with congress, basically acting unilaterally to create an entirely new statute or new class of individuals. >> there was a tweet by richard grenell, friend of this program of the he was the spokesperson for the ambassador to the united nations for a number of years. he said this: a federal judge in texas agrees with candidate obama that president obama's executive amnesty is illegal. that's kind of funny.

one of the things, though, that the judge down in texas said was that if this law were -- it's not a law. if this executive action were to go into effect today, it would cause irreparable damage to the states. you're in arizona. what sort of damage would it cause your state? >> the litigation pointed out is everything from the obama administration saying in the texas courts that states wouldn't have to issue licenses versus in states like arizona where they've taken a position in the 9th circuit where we do have to issue licenses, everything from benefits to providing social security numbers, to providing work permits, work authorizations to folks that are in the country illegally. those are all the unintended consequences or intended consequences that directly affect the state. once again, i want to make clear this is really broader than immigration. whether you believe in immigration reform or believe we should do something about it, the fundamental question becomes can the president act

terrorism. the u.s. has a jobs program for muslim youth? it's hard to see what the purpose of these tweets will be and social media postings until the administration comes up with a serious strategy. >> the president really used social media during his campaign when it worked for him quite well. he was real specific then. now there are so many terms that can't be used. you wonder if this is just going to undermine the overall effort and if we don't have strategy in place, is this just a hyper focus on social media on creating jobs, getting a club together for kids so they don't join isis here in minneapolis? what's going on here? >> it's a substitute for syria's policy. -- a serious policy. the administration does not want to admit who the threat is, so it's come up with this alternative. if we're not going to admit they were radical islam, like the president of france is, so he's come up with this alternate strategy of trying to fight isis through twitter facebook and youtube.

what do they respond to? >> the president's strategy seems to be underpinned on the notion that the american people will not support sending ground troops into iraq and syria. i think he's right. that's the case right now. but there is a lot that we can do. we can arm the kurds. there is weapons in baghdad that the iraqi government won't give to the kurds. we can start having the iraqi government arm friendly sunni militias who wasn't toughie's isis, but the government won't arm them. we can insist that iran get out of iraq. iran's presence in iraq is driving support for isis among sunni groups. we can intensify bombing of positions of isis in syria. there is a lot we can do to strengthen the kurdish and iraqi armies. we can't send in american troops right now. the political environment is not there for that. but there is a lot we can do to weaken isis if we would have a strategy to do this. >> we can't tweet our way out of it. we thank you for your expertise and insight this morning.
