this is a place that could use a lesson in liberty. i am surrounded by students here more than a thousand of them who traveled to join students for liberty. here in washington life is dominated by democrats who want to take away economic lipberty and take away personal liberty but there are a couple exceptions to that. one is justin amash from michigan. >> these are unusual because he has an economics degree and he worries a lot about americans becoming bankruptcy. we are probably going bankrupt. how many students think when you are my age medicare will be here to pay for your heart problem.

media especially if he had exposed the same level of corruption rather than from the government. >> i think it might be treated differently. some conservatives say he committed treason. they may die because of what he revealed. >> i think he broke the law. i think he should pay for breaking the law. i think that's a requirement under our system that people take responsibility. but i also thought it was bad the way it is written. the law should be changed. we need to allow people on the inside who are whistleblowers to come to people on the inside like members of congress for example snowden and others like him cannot come to a regular member of congress like me. we have to go through the intelligence committee. that is outrageous.

they should be able to go to any one in congress so we can address it. >> i am crystal. i go to college in north carolina. we spoke about how our generation is financing social security and other things but yeah, we are just voting to spend the budget all of this money on nsa. how do you justify voting for the nsa and putting in the budget. all of the nsa and half of the fence you wouldn't touch the entitlement problem. the problem of course is that the largest areas of government are social security, military tending which is a very large area medicare and medicaid. you have to address those four areas to really put a dent into the budget problem that we have.

i think there are members of congress committed to doing that. but unfortunately the people who run congress right now have not been very committed to it. >> thank you. >> i am dna from new york-- dan from new york city and i go to school in binghamton. when you were talking to colleagues trying to make them take a more friendly stance do they debate you or try to brush them off? >> my colleagues are great. they are nice people. there are a couple that are a little nasty. most of them are very nice people. we have excellent discussions. you would be surprised how receptive they are to liberty ideas. a lot of times there are political pressures put on them. i think it is just a matter of gaining more courage. i am hopeful my last election gave them a little bit of courage.

[cheers and applause] john: we're back in washington at the students for liberty confer 9s 9s>> we are at the student for liberty conference. more than 1000 students came to advocate for a free society. economic freedom. personal freedom and intellectual freedom. a group called students for liberties voted 7 years ago by alexander mccull bin. today they include more than 1300 groups around the world.

where did you find out about students for liberty? >> it started in 2009 when wemy country went through a big crisis. under those circumstances i was trying to understand everything that was going on in my country and i started getting interested in political science and economic science. >> you went to youtube and you put in how does the economy work? >> that is right. i found the videos and a lot of liberty videos from the studies. >> learn liberty videos include four-way economists think we are all wrong. why does one percent of the history have the wealth? sex nomices they bury them. from this you learn that we know what makes a country prosper. they weren't doing it in honduras. >> i am a law student. when i started reading the
