for a couple reasons. he refuels to identify one of the main security threats by name. eric holder says we are not in a state of war. you have the state department saying we are not going to kill our way to security. these barbarians killed over 100 school children, they are killing editorialists when they don't like their cartoons. this president is more intent on telling us about the crusades. and when he smits a military request to congress he puts an arbitrary time line. a three-year deadline. we know we'll be done when we hunt down and kill these terrorists. then he bars the list of ground troops. we need a list of our military members. we don't need a president trying to be politically correct.
6:16 am
he won't even name the enemy we face and now he's refusing to give our military the tools they need. bill: you were in the room for 90 minutes with him yesterday. did you tell him this? >> we have been in these rooms before. it's more of the president talking to us than a real dialogue. we heard the president tell us he's not interested in back away from amnesty. he says even if the supreme court rules against him he's not interested in revisiting the obamacare issue. this administration is not giving the military the tools they need aviddifying islamic terrorism. we didn't -- bill: what he would argue is

this is what isis wants. they want to be able to tell the world that the west is at war with islam. they want to use that message and recruit more fighters. that's what he would argue. is he right on that point? >> no, he's wrong. the president continues to say we are not at war with islam. that's obviously true but we are pat war with radical islam. you hear other foreign leaders say, the president of egypt and the president of france. the way we deny the recruiting tool is to hunt them down and kill them. this political correctness is hurting our aability to win this -- hurting our ability to win his fight. 15-minute. bill: you would support american ground troops, is that right? >> i think we need every option on the table. i'm not suggesting that's our first option. but we've need to go to our

6:34 am
i don't think he needs a primer on whether we are at war with islam. the question is whether we stigmatize the entire faith. martha: people are being killed in bigger numbers than any other religion. so they know they are the victims of this more than anything. we are now in our fourth secretary of defense. a lot of people look at that and say there has been differences of opinion in the pentagon of how to deal with taking on this threat. that the president has been clear enough in his strategy that they have plans ready to go, that they want to arm the kurds and the syrian rebels for the past two years. so i guess what is the president's real strategy for defeating this enemy? is it changing? his his mind change on that? >> i'm not there and i'm not part of their policy discussions

but let me say i think one of the strengths of the president and you may disagree that he always asked the question, what next? what is the first step, the second step, the third step. it's important to think about where we are going here. if we send in large numbers of troops, for example, what are the up reply cases of that. how long are they going to be there? how do you establish -- we have seen in iraq if you don't have an understanding between the different sects to coexist how do you instill some of that. there are questions that have to be asked. if you are the commander in chief and you are in charge. you were the commander-in-chief what would you do? martha: a couple years ago he said assad must go. weep watches hundreds of thousands of syrians pouring

was driving the tractor trailer stopped on the tracks for whatever reason. once the train hit that truck, the driver fled the scene, was found about a mile away and has been taken into custody. one thing to note too, bill you notice the train is on the side. we've covered a number of crashes in southern california the last 10 years and when we have a major accident with the train, you'll see a lot of damage to the train itself. in this case, if you notice you don't see anything damage to either end of the train so that suggests the train was not going as fast as it could which is towards #90 miles an hour. investigators will tern all of that. as you look at the train, it may have potentially saved lives, the train may not have been going as fast as it could but you can see the damage to the truck is basically destroyed and in multiple parts along the railroad tracks so bill the scene still shut down here. you imagine the commute from northern parts of ventura county all the way to l.a. is a mess right now but we're told no

fatalities and two in critical condition. >> interesting story about speed. it could have saved lives. we don't know whether or not this truck had broken down or that it was left and the driver made a run for it. >> we don't know. we have driven across that crossing a number of times. you can cut from the 101 over to the p. p.c.h., pacific coast highway that way. those crossings, a lot don't have guards. we have someone there, a local fox reporter i know who has tweeted out there was a rail guard there. we don't know if that's the case or not. we don't know how the truck broke down or if it did break down, if it stopped there purposely or not, if it got caught there. there are a lot of things going into this investigation. what we do know is the truck was on the tracks. train hit the truck at 5:45 local time. that's a very high commute time in southern california especially from this area which is about 60 miles or so north and west of los angeles. a lot of commuters now getting off the highway and taking this train into los angeles. it eventually goes over the

hills into the san fernando valley and on into downtown if you were to go that route. so it's a train that would have been filled this morning, bill right at 5:45 a.m. very similar to new york and other metro areas. this is the way a lot of people get into the city and thankfully, at least at this hour, no fatalities two critical and 28 others injured according to ventura county. >> stay on it and i know you will. adam live in los angeles on that. >> is it a looming crisis for homeland security? as the spending bill goes down in the senate what's being done to prevent a shutdown as lawmakers face a deadline that's now just a couple of days away. major: ok fitness class! here's our new trainer ensure active heart health. crowd: yayyyy! heart: i'm going to focus on the heart. i minimize my sodium and fat... gotta keep it lean and mean. pear: uh-oh. heart: i maximize good stuff like my potassium... and phytosterols, which may help lower cholesterol. major: i'm feeling energized already. new delicious ensure active heart health supports your heart and body, so you stay active and
