let's take a look now at the president of the united states the first african-american of course to hold that office, walking across the edmund pettus bridge. barack obama of illinois leading a group of several hundred across that bridge, recreating those footsteps 50 years ago today that of course ended with the protesters, about 600 of them, marching for voting rights, bloodied and battered when they were set upon by the alabama state troopers. that of course leading to two other marches the final one led by dr. martin luther king jr. this action all leading to the birth of the voting rights act back in 1965. it is an emotional, poignant, historic and deeply meaningful saturday afternoon in selma, alabama, as the president along with the first lady and their

two young daughters walk across the bridge honoring and remembering and celebrating the progress that this country has made and honoring and paying tribute to those who went those steps 50 years ago. we just heard from the reverend jesse jackson talking about the meaningful tribute that he had and the people who were crying and walking up to him asking him, imploring him, thanking him for the civil rights movement of this country. just a few hours ago, mourners gathered in prescott, arizona to remember international aid worker kayla mueller. the 26-year-old was the fourth american to die in isis captivity. mueller was captured back in 2013 after leaving a doctors without borders hospital in syria. u.s. officials confirmed her death last month but have not verified claims by isis that she

right now that it can't get done, that is the main stumbling block? >> i think it's the iranians. the president is desperate for a deal. he came out and said no plan b which is the equivalent if you walked in a car dealer and said dude, i don't know what this is going to cost me but i got to buy a car. so in a sense the iranians are really in the driver's seat and they have three options. they can sign a deal, they can continue to string the negotiationout because the administration won't want to walk away and get some sanctions relief or they might overstretch and just -- and their demands are just something even the p-5 plus one couldn't credibly agree to. the likelihood everyone is just going to walk away from the table at this point because the administration has invested so much in this and said there's no alternative are kind of next to stooer zero. >> they are lowering the level of uranium enrichment but they are not taking apart the centrifuges, they aren't putting the stuff in boxes and crates and shipping it to the d.o.e. in

tennessee like gadhafi did. they're not taking everything down and allowing full access like south africa. so what are they doing to make sure they don't build a bomb? >> that's the key point that netanyahu made in his speech. they get essentially to run up to the line of everything you do to do a nuclear weapons program and there are no concrete assurances here that they won't build a bomb in the future. so to say well, we worked out the technical details, nobody really thinks the technical details are relevant because all the prohibitions are reversible. so it's just like holding the sword of damocles over the reej op region's head for ten years. >> do you think what they are allowed to do and allowed to keep, they would have the potential to build a nuclear bomb if they wanted? >> the deal as we currently understand it lets them run up to that line and stop. so then -- >> can they stop? do we have them stop or do they
1:44 pm
decide to stop? >> well that's the problem. first of all, they could renege the deal whenever they wanted to or they can cheat. in either case they can essentially have what they have now which is the capacity to go nuclear when they want to. people forget, the iranian negotiating strategy here is virtually identical to the north korean strategy which is stringing along people between a combination of cheating and accommodating, then abrogating and going nuclear at the point they felt was right for them. >> do you think we would know? is it possible we would know if they are going nuclear unlike north korea? >> well america's got a great history of this. we guessed wrong in every single power that went nuclear including our own, guessing when we were going to do it. our track record on this isn't really super awesomely great. >> finally, what about those who say look, any deal is better than no deal at all because if they have no deal, they can do whatever they want. >> they are either idiots or
