at this hour. what can you tell us? >> correct. we had two helicopters two uh-60s. they were assigned to a louisiana national guard unit army guard unit. the marines that were on board the one aircraft involved in the accident were assigned to camp lejeune in north carolina. the aircraft or the personnel were participating in a nighttime training exercise which is a rather normal occurrence here. those organizations were using the eglin range complex which is a vast and expansive training range. the aircraft we sent out our search and rescue teams beginning around -- and they also found debris around 2:30 this morning central time. >> where? >> pardon me? >> where did they find it? >> if you look at the eglin area and look at the range map there is a navarre pass bridge.

classified material to anyone on my e-mail. there is no classified material. so i am certainly well aware of the classification requirements. and i did not send classified material. >> there is no way to prove that this morning because clinton says the server that she owns will stay off limits. that declaration is raising red flags with republican critics concerned that america's former top diplomat continues to make her own rules. >> if this is about yoga i have no interest in seeing it or the brides made's dresses or wedding cake. if it's a public record, you should have access to it, i should have access to it t. she doesn't get to make that call. we don't grade our own papers in life. we don't call fouls on ourselves in the nba or holding on ourself

because of discrimination events. senator, what bothers you most about this story? >> i guess it is discrimination we're discriminating against nationals who could go back to their home country and plot on destroying israel and us. that's valid u.s. policy. there is very clear u.s. law that says we're not going to educate iranian nationals who could help their government in these sciences related to nuclear engineering. that is crist al clear. >> the state department haven't responded directly to you but they said they had a conversation with the college. >> well the u.s. law is very clear, i quote it in my letter. in fact it does prohibit that when that education directly has to do with a nuclear capability.

for nuclear program. >> we have a role, that's our constitutional system. we thought it was important to educate the leaders of iran about how it works in the united states. and if they sign this deal with president obama, and it is not ratified by the senate then it will be a personal agreement, not a binding agreement for future leaders of the united states. >> not a traitor senator? >> absolutely not. this is about the survival of the west, our values america, and israel. iran is one of our most dangerous enemies right now. the issue is whether they're going to become even much more dangerous with nuclear capability. >> you got up early to talk about this important story and more. thanks so much more, senator. tennessee minutes before the top of the hour. this time a medical center va manager mocks the mental health problems of our nation's vets.

resource center on monday. we have 530 veterans on our campus. and we have zero counselors available to them. and the undocumented immigrants they have one counselor available to them and it serves 650 students. another issue is the fact that we have 27,000 undergraduates on our campus. we only have 11 advisors. that's the main issue the fact that the faculty and this administration wanted to allocate the resources and the funds to illegal immigrants instead of our veterans or our disabled students, instead of our actual students that pay taxpayer dollars for this. >> right. because this is partially funded from students who foot the bill to attend. what has been the reaction on

campus knowing their tax dollars are footing the bill for illegal immigrants? >> many are frustrated with this university, with the administration. the fact that they are prioritizing these students and not prioritizing the general student body population. and that's where a lot of students are fed up with this university. the fact that other students and the majority of students on campus are not getting the attention they deserve. that they paid for. but, yet, these 650 students will get a resource center to them. it's special treatment on this campus. they would rather serve this body of individuals instead of benefitting the whole student population. >> keep us up to date on what's happening there. thanks for joining us, we appreciate it. coming up on our show, this just in.

as stopping increases your risk of having a stroke. eliquis can cause serious and in rare cases fatal bleeding. don't take eliquis if you have an artificial heart valve or abnormal bleeding. while taking eliquis you may bruise more easily and it may take longer than usual for any bleeding to stop. seek immediate medical care for sudden signs of bleeding like unusual bruising. eliquis may increase your bleeding risk if you take certain medicines. tell your doctor about all planned medical or dental procedures. i accept that i'm not as fast, but i'm still going for my personal best... and for eliquis. reduced risk of stroke... plus less major bleeding. ask your doctor... if eliquis is right for you.

believed to have left seven marines and four united states soldiers dead. >> i can, unfortunately confirm we have had some human remains and debris from the aircraft that have washed ashore. we have been picking up debris on both the nort and the south side of the sound. it is a relatively large area we will be searching for. >> lieutenant general john mcinery served two tours. he says debris doesn't make a lot of sense. he joins us on the phone this morning. what do you make of this crash during that foggy evening last night? >> as in post of these, the initial assumptions are wrong. but the key fact that just came up from that last report was remains and debris washed ashore which tells me at that point santa rosa island can be anywhere in the sound there from
5:52 am
a mile to half a mile wide. it could have happened directly over the sound itself. what is confusing, is the widespread area, but it could be that it's the tidal flow that is moving it to both sides of the sound. >> so the indication we're hearing, the debris was found on both sides of the santa rosa sound. you're saying it could have been the water that moved it or do you believe that something could have caused damage in the air? >> well, that's a good question elizabeth. it could have been an explosion for instance. when you have a widespread debris area. and that's what i'm gessing. we don't know. having the debris field is going to tell us a great deal of information. i'm speculating now. but i'm letting our listeners and viewers know when you have a widespread area like that it means the airplane was probably high or there was an explosion or something. so that's the confusing part.
5:53 am
>> general how challenging is it to fly at night when the -- according to weather reports the fog was thick? >> it is very challenging. that's why i thought immediately it could have been a vertigo problem. they were doing probably an operation flying over santa rosa island there which is a restricted area. there were marines on board, so you expect that kind of environment. but because it is fairly widespread, i'm getting a different impression. but, again, it could be the tidal flow that is spreading this debris field out. >> you know this area very well general. you had three tours there. you indicated they were flying under visual flight rules, what can you tell us. >> on a night mission like that, they don't have radar watching them or anything like that. they are flying looking at the ground. they are in charge of it.
5:54 am
those vmc visual meteorological conditions. they are in charge of it. they don't have any air traffic control monitoring them. because they do very hazardous missions they fly low a lot to slip in under radar, et cetera, that makes nighttime a very difficult one. when you compound it with fog, it's extremely difficult. you can't do that unless you have terrain following radar. i doubt those helicopters had that kind of capability. >> we understand the other aircraft lost communication -- one of the two helicopters lost communication with the one that crashed. what do you make of that? why would that have happened? >> i think that's because the airplane crashed and they lost communications at that time. we don't know that for sure. but that is the impression that i'm getting because the normally the pilots are talking to one another so they have an appreciation where they are, particularly at nighttime.
