the news deck. the islamic state's realm of terror is snowballing, expanding beyond the middle east and growing its ranks of vicious terrorist by the thousands. that mouthful from the cia director himself john brennan now that isis forces joined forces with boca hardam. a move that expands the islamic state's reach into new territory. boca haram operates mainly in though jeer ya but the group has been launching attacks in nearby countries, and if you count the affiliates isis and both -- they have made their presence known from the africa. >> this phenomenon has ÷c&o a lot of appeal so we see boca haram inside of nigeria, pledging allegiance to isil. different franchise, whether in libya or south asia, other areas in egypt, that are trying to get

on the band wagon of this phenomenon, and so this is a worrisome global movement andphone. >> boca haram killed an estimated 10,000 people last year alone. the group got worldwide attention when it kidnaps hundreds hundreds of school girls almost a year ago now. some escaped about hundreds still missing. both haram has been losing ground lately. hundreds of mercenaries from south africa are playing a key role in the fight in nigeria. the mercenaries using attack helicopters and armored personnel carriers, night vision goingle and other stuff to take back the towns and villages from boca haram. a nigerian government spokesperson says his country is getting help from soldiers in the region as well as other individuals whomever they may be. but the spokesman claims the help is limited to technical training and support.

catherine herridge is live in washington. analysts say it would take years for isis to accept the pledge here. >> that's right. the fact that isis leadership accepted boca haram in days not weeks is another indicator the group in iraq and syria wants to support and reinforce affiliates. a counterterrorism analyst confirm the use of video is more evident isis is taking significant security precautions because the spokesman on the tape there on the left, traveled in close proximate equipment to the isis leader al-baghdadi. as the cia director noted they're the driving force behind the group's bankrupt ideology. >> isil demonstrates a very worrisome development because it has basically been phenomenon that has snow baled and have had

philippines and indonesia, so they're moving towards the idea of a transnational caliphate. >> there's no good if they can't communicate. you would thick there would be a way for us to get in the middle of that but apparently there isn't. >> it's challenging. the bad guys keep evolving whether it's the way they communicate on/ecátwitter or on youtube and facebook or in the deep web in the dark net. so the role of threatening intelligence and being able to pick up communication going on through nontraditional channels is becoming very important for the intelligence community. >> mitchell silver, thank you. >> thank you. >> three guys from brooklyn accused of trying to support the islamic state went to court, all pleaded not guilty to terror charges. the feds arrested the suspects last month. two of these guys bought plane tickets to turkey and were planning to go from turkey into syria. the third defendant accused of helping one suspect pay for that flight. the feds say that one man even

handed the fbi agent a written statement claiming he would kill president obama if isis ordered it. defense lawyers claim the fbi's paid informant encouraged the suspects to make their plans. laura ingle at the courthouse in brooklyn now. >> reporter: all three men sat in the jury box together, each handcuffed and shackled around the waist, listenpum who made sure they all understood the charges against them before they entered their plea. the alleged terror trio a 19-year-old, 24-year-old, and a 30-year-old, were ordered to remain in custody for now. prosecutors allege the three conspired to join up with isis and say they have evidence, some through confidential informants, showing there were suggested plans to blow up new york's coney island shoot the president and gun down police and fbi agents, all attorneys waived their clients' right to

patrols near the air space of foreign countries last year than at any time since the cold war. tenges have been running high between the kremlin and the west over the deadly crisis in eastern ukraine. meantime, president putin is set to make his first public appearance in more than a week as kremlin officials are trying to shut down the rumors he is bad sick. they say on monday he will meet with a country's president. he last appeared in public last thursday for a meeting if italy's prime minister. analysts say it's rare for him to go even a day without a public event, and he has postponed an upcoming trip and yesterday missed an national security meeting he typically attend. kremlin officials say images show president putin at this week's private event. they say this shows him meeting today with the president of the russian supreme court. they say another image shows him at a woman's day event on sunday but a local newspaper

up with one world leader but he is operating under the assumption that the russian leader is alive. earlier this afternoon the state department deflected questions about mr. putin's whereabouts. >> there was a report that russian president vladimir putin has not been seen in public for a week. does the state department have any idea where he is, what he is up to? >> i believe the kremlin has spoken to this, so i would point you to that. >> you don't have any reaction. >> i don't have information no. >> in the meantime, the rumors about why mr. putin is m.e.i.a. is rampant, everything from plastic surgery or having a stroke and the strongest rumor is in fact he has been at a swiss clinic where his russian girlfriend has given birth. there is strong rumors about this. we just found out that a spokesman for mr. putin is strongly denying those rumors. >> it's my favorite rumor. if he has this hot little girlfriend and putin had a baby, that would be awesome.

the order from the faa. the agency is now sing letters to people who post drone videos online. one guy in florida says he got a letter this week warning these youtube clips violate regulations because they use commercial drones for purposes without authorization. series -- seriously. but he insists he uses the device to shoot landmarks and not to make money. the faa considers youtube videos commercial because of those annoying ad that pop up over the video clips, the ones you never watch. an faa official tells us the letter made no mention of advertisement and that the warning is technically not a cease and desist letter. the official told news a statement the faa's goal is to promote voluntary compliance by educating individual unmanned aircraft systems operators about how they can safely operate under current regular layings and laws. -- regulations and laws.

around now because the missions they would have had to fly were done by drones?áqp t(q of helicopters or airplanes. same thing with civilian missions. news helicopters, many examples. >> you think they would want to promo this industry which would create jobs and opportunities, instead it appears they're trying to get in the way of it. >> if it had to do with safety that's different. i could take a helicopter some fly over my house and take pictures. now i put the helicopter pilot at risk, the photographer at risk people on the ground at risk, and the faa wouldn't have a problem with that. they would have a problem if i put a drone over my house and charged a dollar for it, and then they would come in and say you violated federal regulations. >> that's the best i ever heard it put. we can spend the $2,500 an hour to fly the helicopter, the news helicopter. we have lots of them you have to pay the photographer and -- or you can put a $1,500 drone up and just bring it straight back

more headlines. an american healthcare worker is now the 11th person to receive treatment for the ebola virus in the united states. health officials say the worker flew in from sierra leone and arrived at a hospital in maryland in serious condition. the w.h.o. reports the killed more than 10,000 people, almost all in west africa. a man who knocked out a referee during a soccer game killing him will go to prison for at least eight years. that is the ruling from a judge after the man reached a plea deal. he said he punched the referee in the throat during a game outside detroit last summer. the ref died two days later.

sponsoring this thing because they're both millionaires many times over. i'm guessing somebody has calculated what this would save. more than a thousand bucks? >> here's the thing. they have an actual score or cost estimate on the bill. it's tough to gauge how much it would save. the way it works is congress gets a set amount each year to try to pend on their office supplies, on hiring staff and on travel. they can spend it on first-class travel if they want to, but the amount that congress has been spending on each individual office's has fallen collectively by $100 million over the last five years so this would make a dent but if history is our guide i won't pass. >> president obama in phoenix today visiting the hospital in the middle of the veterans affairs scandal last year. the white house says the president will host a roundtable discussion with lawmakers and veterans on the state of the va.

least year reports revealed dozens 60 veterans died while waiting for care in this phoenix facility, and staffers at va clinics across the nation kept fake waiting lists to cover up the problem. about 50 protesters were waiting outside the phoenix va clinic today. last august the president signed a bill to spend $16 billion to overhaul the entire department. some[x;v lawmakers complain the va isn't making changes quickly enough. just u.s.a. today reported thousands of veterans are turn away who need help. chris wallace is live with us. turning away subsubstance abuse veterans. seems wrong to the core. >> it is. this is interesting -- the president was on a west coast swing -- he went to this va hospital, the place where the whole scandal started with vets having to wait for months and

some dying while they waited. the president went to phoenix in january, drove past the hospital but didn't stop. that was very controversial and he was criticized for that, and he is making a stop specifically there today there are bunch of issues. for instance, one of the other problems is that last august, at the height of the scandal the president announced a reform and what it was is that if you live more than 40 miles away from the va hospital, or you would have to wait more than 30 days and yet still hadn't gotten an appointment, and they put $10 billion into the kitty for this -- that you could get a visit with a private doctor, and in fact they even handed out 8 million veterans choice cards. only 27000 people have signed up for it and in the president's latest budget he is going to take some money away from the private choice option and put it back into the va so a

dozens showed up at a village toll play for place but just as the crowd gathered a pickup truck drove by with somebody shouting "white power." steve hair -- harrigan is in figure son. >> there's a real manhunt on for the shooter searching door to door by police and occasionally roof to roof. they brought to three paper of interest for questioning but right now no one is in custody. no arrests have been made. as farce the weapon we're not -- as far as the weapon, we saw police with metal detectors they've found at least three of the casings, three or four shoots fired. no word yet on what weapon was used. the shots fired from at least 100-yards away but the governor as well as the police chief saying it was clear the police were deliberately targeted by the shooter. as far as the two wind officers, both out of the hospital, resting. one officer still has a bullet
